The next day they're cleaning the grill. Another day they're only taking cash. At this point, I'm convinced the restaurant's primary business model is finding creative reasons not to serve food. I never know if I'm arriving at a fast-food restaurant or interrupting a team-building exercise. The employees could probably write a bestselling book titled "1001 Reasons We Can't Take Your Order Right Now." When they're actually open and functioning, the food is fine. The challenge is successfully navigating the side quest required to place an order. If your goal is to eat at this Jack in the Box, I'd recommend bringing patience, backup dinner plans, and perhaps a priest to bless the drive-thru before attempting entry.

I ordered at the front counter and had my meal delivered to my table. I ate in the larger dining room (the one on the left as one enters the building). My chicken itself was dry, but tender, with a distinct Mesquite flavor. The rice was ok and the beans were delicious. The three thin flour tortillas were also melt-in-your-mouth buttery soft. I had leftovers. Chicken is the only meat protein. You can buy a full chicken bundle for $31.99, or a half bundle for $17.99. Sides are either rice or beans (no greens). Pepsi products are sold. A small cup is $2.49 and a large cup is $2.75. There is also Lipton ice tea. Fountain drinks are refillable. Bottled water and other canned drinks are also sold. The ambiance is akin to a fast food Mexican eatery. Walls are yellow and red. All the light fixtures desperately need cleaning. It was a bit chilly inside. I used my credit card so there was an additional 3% surcharge. Total for my meal was $22.93 for a half bundle and large drink. The place got busier as I left. I walked in late on a Friday afternoon and ordered the Chicken Fajita Combo. The employee told me it would be a 15-minute wait. No problem. I saw three cooks in the back busy filling orders. My food came out as expected. It didn't look like much, but it was more filling than normal. The fajita mix is inside a fried roll, cut into four pieces, with peppers, onions, spice and lots of cheese. The double-fried fries are spiced. I got two meals out of this. Lots of gooey cheese in the mix! They have several meal specials for fish and lots of side orders.

The sandwich came out promptly. The young man recognized me from the local high school and we chatted a bit since no one was behind me. His manager also recognized me. Oh vey, is there anyplace in town I can be anonymous? The sandwich was pretty good. Bread was warm and there was plenty of fish on it that wasn't drowning in tartar sauce.
