Knew all the answers to all my questions 3.Empathic since she has 5 kids of her own (She does not look like she has 5 kids) But the Child center was great for all these reasons. 1.Welcoming and colorful. (This was my 5th daycare tour in Rockville/Gaithersburg 2.Kids were all happy when I came in for a tour. 3.They have a huge play ground area 4.They offer classes like cooking for an additional small fee. 5.They give 10% off discounts to a list of companies. 6.Teacher student ratio is 1 to 10 kids. AMAZING! 7.It didn't smell like a dirty diaper when I walked in. 8.Security window and door. Love it! The pricing is a little on the higher end of my budget honestly but you get what you pay for. At least you know your child will be in good hands. I am have this on my top two and will make a choice soon. The kids are all lively and sweet and engaged-- I was a little worried about preschool crushing my son's spirit but Family Academy really seems to follow the Montessori idea for real and created a real curiosity and love of learning in my 2 year old. It is so fun to watch him color and wash dishes and it's clear he enjoys it. The school buildings are a little dilapidated, but I think that's because the staff is focused on quality teaching for the kids rather than expanding and looking fancy to attract more parents. When my son was younger and still potty training I got updates when he used the potty as well! I also loved the safety they had. Every room has a camera so the director can see what's going on in each classroom. Both the door to enter the building and the door to go to the hallway to get to the kids have a code on it, double security so not anyone can just get in. You get a lovely tour of the place and on the holidays they do special crafts and parties. They do before school and after school care and pick up kids at school too.
