The technician who arrived was very knowledgeable and thorough in his evaluation, pointing out a couple of things that contradicted the original evaluation by the first company. Although the AF technician indicated the furnace was a bit undersized for the square footage of our home, he said the furnace was in reasonable condition for being 11 years old. He recommended a thorough cleaning of the furnace in the spring before committing to purchasing a new furnace. After 90 minutes of assessment and merely installing another wire nut the Tech. informed me he "didn't know why the fuse didn't trip. AND for that I paid $536! WHAT!! I asked for a bid to install one 240 outlet (which another company did for under $1000) and they gave me a proposal to replace the breaker panel ($13,000), all the upstairs outlets ($6700) plus $2000 for the 240 outlet. Total $20 grand!!! By the way my house is only 25 years old and we have had zero problems with our electrical system.
