In the passage of my travels, my family and I succumb to purchasing fruits. Amid Circus Fruits does have a good selection fruits and vegetables, I prefer Three Guys From Brooklyn whom is a 24/7 open-air market with an emphasis on fruits & vegetables, plus a full range of grocery items. We decided to purchase kiwis and strawberries. The strawberries were delicious. Customer service is non-existent as the staff as robotic stolid circus-style cashiers, but if one who requires assistance as attaining an very high elevated item outside of your reach - no one can assist you. Circus Fruits is usually less crowded unlike their rival Three Guys From Brooklyn. Ergo, I have been to the circus in Brooklyn today to purchase fruits! However, this circus does not contain animals nor clowns who entertain customers, but are apathetic and stolid to the core. I went here about a week ago and I was surprised by the variety of produce there. Everything is organized outside and the pricing was reasonable. Inside is just like a regular grocery store. I bought some eggs, bread, and snacks. There are only about 3 cashiers, which made the checkout process slower. I will be shopping here more often for produce! read more

Offers a cold cuts deli counter which is a plus. Unlike Three Guys on 65th Street, the inside of the store is more aisle friendly for the customers. No maze like path to go thru just to get to the cashier. Although the freshness of the fruit and vegetables aren't always as fresh as Three Guys, you can still find good sales here. read more

I was especially glad to come here and get an extremely hospitable service, right after the most atrocious experience at the grocery store right across the street. The lady behind the cold cut counter was about to close but she made the extra time just to cut me a half a pound of fresh honey turkey breast. She asked if I wanted something else also but I told her she was already kind enough to go out of her way and we exchanged pleasantries and I saw her with the kids at least two times right after and once again, said thank yous and goodbyes. If not for any other reason, I and you should come to this store for the friendly and kind employees that treat each other and their customers with care and attention. read more

Amazing fresh produce and foods. The price is pretty similar to 3 guys, but Circus Fruit is usually less crowded. However, the customer service isn't as amazing as my experiences at 3 guys where the individuals make an effort to speak to my mom in Chinese as the surrounding area is Asian. It just made her feel very welcome. There is also more parking or spots to pull over and wait as well. I love the baguette like bread they sell here, it's delicious. Their fruits are also always competitive with the Chinese Asian supermarkets I usually visit. I usually have had a great experience here, however, I can only speak for the bread and the fresh produce that is outside around the store. tl;dr - great fresh produce and prices, more parking available than the market a couple blocks down, but the customer service is not on the same level. I had a bad experience buying from here, it was nighttime, and I was trying to buy some fruits off the shelf outside. The worker was refilling the self, and the fruits on the shelf were old and nearly spoiled. I asked if I could pick from the new case stacked on the cart, and the employee responded, "That's Fxxking for someone else." I understand you don't want to sell the new inventory and you want the customer to finish the old stock, but you already brought the new product out. Then why are you making it obvious and refusing to sell right in front of my face, and Why should I put up with your attitude from this employee? This long standing fruit and produce market has been my go-to for all my grocery needs. Store opens 24/7 which is a sure plus in my book. Depending on the time of day they roll out fresh groceries and the price is decent too. Many fruits and produce are placed outside, staff aren't picking up fallen fruits and its being walked all over by customers making the walkways super cramped and dirty at times. Tonight I went shopping at 10:15, I encountered a cashier who is super rude and throws me the money ! This is not the first time, it has happened many many times... I've been a big fan of Three Guys and Circus Fruits. How lucky am I to be able to access both of these 24/7 supermarkets with these amazing prices? My friends in the city spends $6-7 compared to the $2-3 dollars items I spend here! The store takes up the entire block, 59th to 60th and Fort Hamilton Parkway to 10th ave. Outside, fruits on one side and vegetables on the other. There's an entrance and an exit, some people have to learn how to use the proper one ... I love the different fuji apple selections they have, they carry honeycrisp apples for about $1.29lb, huge variety of apples and pears. I love their calavo hass avocados for 2/$1, romaine lettuce is always reasonably priced, $3 pineapples, $1 strawberries at times, $0.59lb bananas, 3/$1 cucumbers, and my favorite $2 kale and tuscan kale. ETC. HOWEVER, the customer service here is DISGUSTING by the way, mainly the ladies inside, absolutely terrible! They often punch in the wrong prices then act like they're completely right. They would argue with me, check their notebook of prices, ask each other in a different language as if I don't understand. Yes, I'm Chinese and yes, I do understand Spanish if you're talking about me. Now, you may NOT apologize to me, roll your eyes and suck your teeth at me as you change the actual sale price. (as I said) They like to team up together to tell you that you're wrong too. I don't mind them giving me attitude because their job sucks but I really had enough of it when they gave my mom an attitude for asking a simple question. Other than those times, It would be a silent and easy transaction that will just get the job done quick. The guys outside are hard workers. The day time workers annoys me sometimes, let's not get into it of how or why. The night time workers are extremely helpful. Sometimes they'd stop stocking the item they're working on to offer me a fresh box produce of the item I'm picking at. One time, they even helped me select a nice juicy watermelon! Since we're still coming out of winter, a lot of fruit and veggies stands are still somewhat limited in selection due to the season. Not Circus. It was abundant with herbs, fruits, veggies. I counted at least 7 varieties of chile peppers, one of which I've not been able to find anywhere in NYC. A huge bag of them was less than $2. Due to their location - a real crossroads of Brooklyn - I think you could shop here and be able to cook many a dish, from Middle Eastern to Asian to European and Latin. I kinda wish it was easier to get to from my place. Damn Greenwood Cemetery. But such is life and I'll make the trek. read more

Circus Fruit - Fruits & Veggies Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

I shop here regularly, several times a week, since it's so close to my apartment. The quality of the produce is great, and cheap--when it gets cheaper, it's because the quality's gone down, so depending on when you go, you may not be able to get quite what you're looking for. But you can still get a good avocado most days for a dollar or less, which is far better than most grocery stores in the city. The produce selection is varied and includes some great Mexican staples that may be tough to track down otherwise; for instance, there's usually a wide variety of chiles, tons of tomatillos, and epazote. The dry goods are pretty good as well. There's a lot of variety, but it changes often, so again, you may not find quite what you're looking for depending on the day. There are a lot of different ethnic foods: you can get cheap corn tortillas, chorizo, and Mexican cheeses in the refrigerated section, or you can find Russian candies, European biscuits, and Italian risotto rice and polenta on the shelves. There's also a deli counter, but it's only open during the day until about 6 or 7 pm. There you can get a good variety of what you might find at a supermarket deli, like standard sandwich meats and cheeses, but it also leans towards Italian specialties, so you can get fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, dried sausages, etc. They also keep the bacon back there, which is a pain in the ass if you're shopping late at night for breakfast the next morning. The lines suck. It's hit and miss as to when you'll end up waiting in a long line, but you'll usually do better late at night (it's always open), or when the weather is bad. If it's raining, you could be the only one around. The 3 Guys a few blocks down on 65th St is comparable, but I don't think it's got any different level of quality. The differences between the two are minimal, but they do offer some different things. 3 Guys has a cheese case, so it has a better selection of cheese right out in the open, while most cheese at the Circus is behind the deli counter, so that has to be open for you to get it. The Circus tends to have more dried goods, like more varieties of pasta. read more

They have a pretty wide selection of fruit and produce, but it's definitely not as fresh as Three Guys. The fridge storing the eggs is not working. Eggs are just stored at room temperature which is not safe. Did not buy. Wanted to stop by the deli counter for a few items. Didn't notice anyone behind the counter so when I looked around, the deli guy was simply chatting with another staff member who was working. Did the deli guy see me? You bet. Gave me eye contact and proceeded with his conversation. It was only when I left the counter that he slowly came back. Went to Circus for the first time even though I had seen and heard about it for ages. Its fresh selections and deals seem on par with my going to Hunts Point and getting the produce myself. The fact that it's open 24/7 is an extra bonus. I like fact that there's parking albeit on the street. I'm glad I finally tried this place and that I have more options than the higher end places in my area like Whole Goods, Union Market and even Fairway. There is little or no organic produce though which for my cooking goals is okay. If there were more Asian fruits and vegetables, then it would be ideal. read more

I must say, not bad, not bad. Their produce is fresh and top quality while also maintaining very low prices. Circus Fruits is the place to get some cheap fruit and vegetables. The establishment is larger than the average vegetable/fruit vendor establishment, and therefore, there is also a large inventory of fruits and vegetables. It's just primarily fruit and vegetables. I'm not saying that's a con, I'm just saying that they don't have meats or whatever you can think of that doesn't qualify as fruit or vegetables. Don't walk in here asking for some ham or pork or cold cuts or whatever. If you like this place, I'm sure you will like Three Guys From Brooklyn. It's a neat grocery store that supplies more than just fruit and vegetables, all at a comparably reasonable price. I may have not rated Circus Fruits 5 stars, but that's just because it comes really, really close to it. Just a fifth of a star away. I deducted that tiny amount due to the infrequent difficulty of finding a place to park. 4.8 out of 5 stars. So close! It's seriously a challenge to spend more than $20 here. I've walked away with bags of produce and not even cracked $15. The quality is a bit below 3 Guys down the street, but as long as you pick and choose you'll walk away with better bargains. Along with great deals on produce, the Deli counter is excellent if you shop the sales and the spices are about 50% off grocery store prices. While the lines can be long on weekends this place is open 24-7 and the cashiers are extremely fast. read more

I would give this place 1 star but i will admit that the prices are cheap. My issue is with the cold cut department. The person who cuts the meat is an a**hole. I just asked him the price of the cold cut because their use to be a board with all the prices but they took it down so i didn't know what was on sale. He gave me an attitude. The other time i came here, he had a cold, he blew his nose with a tissue in his pocket and was handling the cold cuts. Really REally unhealthy. If you see him, don't buy from this guy. He has a big nose probably russian. also, i came in looking for soymilk but the cartons were all bloated. When it's bloated you know they are bad and bacteria is releasing gas. This is my bus stop waiting and shop kinda store after i get off from work in the morning, they're open 24 hrs so it's convenient to everybody! the veggies and fruits and fresh mostly unless you opt for really cheap priced ones. Prices overall is very reasonable, i'd say more resonable than pathmark's down a few blocks. they sell all sort of veggies, herbs, dry foods, breads, dairies, variety of fruits. This is located on the corner of 60th street and fort hamilton parkway. I love this place because they have so much stuff to choose from. From fruits to vegetables to bread to dairy products! This place is HUGE! The best thing of all is their cheap and affordable prices. I usually buy a pack romaine lettuce (comes in three) in pathmark or walbaums for about $4.00 a pack but at Circus Fruits, they have a HUGE stalk of romaine for only 59cents! I always come here to do my weekly grocery shopping and for one weeks grocery for four people..it comes out to be $25.00!! Ahhh... who doesn't love a circus? Well besides elephants and what not. This place is pretty awesome because: A) There is rarely a place with cheaper fruit/veggies B) They are right near a bus stop and the subway C) They have "exotic" stuff like cactus pears for crazy prices like 4 for $1 and Quince for $1 (4/5ths of the cities grocers don't even know what a quince is.... so that says a lot) D) Who doesn't want to buy parsley 4 for $1 and freeze it. I am an adventurous eater who changes the menu at home quite often. I tend to buy what is nice and ripe and either 1) freeze and use later or 2) cook it up right away. This store meets all my demands as far as that is concerned. However, if you are looking for a specific list of ingredients it may be hit or miss. I do like that you can pay with debit/credit card or food stamps if you have them and there is no minimum and there is no hassle. On a recent order I had delivered the food quality was mixed. The avocados were so soft and mushy I had to throw them out, as were the tomatoes, luckily I salvaged them and made sauce, about three tomatoes were able to actually be sliced. Most of the cucumbers had large parts of them that had to be cut away and discarded. Half of the apples I ordered were missing stems so they were mealy. On the plus side the cold cuts were fresh, so they get two stars. I would say with Circus Fruits, your much better off actually going there and picking your own fruits and vegetables, like I used to do, than getting delivery, If I ever order from them again, I will check all items closely and give back to the delivery guy and deduct from the bill anything that is rotten or poor quality. read more

I go here for my weekly groceries. They have a weekly special on various deli meats and cheeses, which is always good. Swiss/Cheddar/Meunster for like $4/lb, and Provolone/American for $3/lb, as well as turkey and other meats for good prices. I love this place for the deli section, actually, never-mind the produce...Veggies are cheaper than at my local fruit stand, and of better quality. My only complaint is how crowded the lines can be. Good selection of produce, with the weekly circular available online. Went on a weekday afternoon, was able to find on-street parking with relative ease. The store can be a bit disorganized but I was able to browse / find most of what I needed. The canned / non-perishable section pretty much matches bodega pricing, but the produce is definitely fresher and cheaper. They have a good selection of packaged breads and alright selection of olives by the pound back near the deli. The crowd can be a mixed bag, not as rude as other places but definitely won't think twice about pushing your cart out of the way. My cue to leave was when two customers started shouting at each other in the checkout line, one for moving slowly. Oh well, such is the price of affordability sometimes. read more
