Ok this is a regular key food or food town with a slight Italian accent. Every thing is just ok nothing that will overwhelm you as far as products. It seems the main reason to go there is the deli counter now here's the rub they have 2 competent deli people and the rest are an autistic group of bumbling idiots that take an abundant amount of time to screw up simple commands. The problem comes on most weekends the line gets about 15 -20 deep and you will stand on that line up to 30 mins for some cheese or ham wtf!!!!! Do something about this please!!!!! read more

La Bella Marketplace (Brooklyn) -- Sold Spoiled Chicken, Refused Refund On the evening of January 16, I bought Bell & Evans organic chicken for $15, with an expiration date of January 23. It was stored properly in my refrigerator. When I opened it on January 20, it had a strong rotten egg/sulfur smell and was clearly spoiled and inedible. I returned it to the store on January 21, but the manager refused a refund, citing a 24-hour return policy that is not printed on the receipt and was allegedly posted somewhere in the store (I did not see any sign at the entrance or outside the front window). Instead of acknowledging they sold bad chicken, the manager talked down to me, suggesting I needed to "air it out" or freeze it--absurd advice for spoiled meat that was sold refrigerated and still within its expiration date. I wasn't returning food I didn't want; I was returning unsafe food. I lost $15, my dinner plans were ruined, and the store took zero responsibility. I've shopped at La Bella in both Brooklyn and Staten Island many times, but this experience has completely turned me off. Think twice before buying perishable items. read more

In response to Brooklyn A.'s June 3, 2025, post, LaBella Brooklyn has always offered Orzo, specifically the Orzo Bimbo brand. It is stocked in the Italian coffee section, bottom shelf next to the Italian chocolate milk mix. See attached photos. It may not be a currently popular product, however, it has been sold by the Brooklyn LaBella location for years. I have personally noticed it. As a long time customer of LaBella, who travels from another part of Brooklyn to shop at this location, I have always found the staff extremely professional, friendly, and helpful. I am also extremely impressed with the variety of authentic Italian products that I have personally noticed sold in many supermarkets in Italy. To my knowledge, there is no other store in Brooklyn which offers the varity of fresh authentic Italian products at reasonable prices. Another reason I travel to LaBella Dyker Heights is for the fresh, daily made, mozzarella and latitcini products. Always fresh and well made. read more

Like most specialty stores, you can find lots of goodies and treasures and prices can be higher or lower than competitors. I enjoy coming to La Bella for the ready made foods, deli counter, pizza dough and the general left side of the store lol It's always fun to see what they have and what's on sale. The store is a medium size, but packed with lots to choose from including fresh seafood, produce and even pizza and pastries. I'm not so close by so when we come, we go a little ham. The staff is nice and lines go quickly. I'm a fan and enjoy that I can come to get some specialty Italian goods when I'm in the mood. read more

I go here specifically for the crumb cake, it's spectacular! Cake is moist and soft, crumb is sweet and delicious. Beyond the crumb cake, I have tried their made pizza, which is on a thicker bread, presumably focaccia. Also great. read more

I was always curious to why there are cars always double parked by this supermarket so I decided to go in and check it out. They are located in what use to be a primarily Italian neighborhood which is definitely diversified now. The have a full line bakery and fish market on premises, carry a large selection of Italian specialties although they are a full service supermarket. The place is clean, well staffed, the workers were friendly although did not seem to go out of their way unless asked. It's always very busy. They require masks and have the correct signage for social distancing for COVID-19 while it's around. I would say the store seemed to have more customers in it at one time for safety and I was not their at a busy time. Overall great selection, fair prices and I would recommend them. read more

Worst supermarket and management I don't recommend anyone to shop here everything is marked up twice the original cost and they sell everything expired and poultry I bought chicken yesterday and this morning when I opened my fridge it was dark black color they change the date of actual expiration to make people sick and send you to the hospital they are looking for lawsuits... the manager is another story I caught her on many occasions fighting with customers and chasing them out to the parking lot she follows people to their cars and harasses the customers I don't know how she's employed and very unprofessional. Disappointed.. unfortunately the Italian markets aren't what they used to be & the ones left in Bensonhurst & Bayridge you can't seem to find an actual Italian either running it OR working in one. The reason I say this is because I've been to a few (like La Bella marketplace many times, even recently) looking for a typical Italian item "Caffe Orzo", NOT the pasta, it's an Italian coffee alternative, I used to see sold in every Italian market especially when there were more Italians here & recently it wasn't here! How are you going to be an Italian imported goods market & not have THAT?! I've asked the workers (they were all Hispanic, before you get your panties up in a bunch, there's a reason I point this out because they were looking at me like I had 10 heads & didn't know what I was talking about). You need an Italian there to know what your customers, who are also Italian (especially in THAT market) ..are looking for! I looked VERY CAREFULLY everywhere, especially aisle 3 where it should have been with the coffee & ovaltine..it's similar to ovaltine but better & healthier. A big problem is that during a pandemic, half the employees aren't wearing masks properly (ex. they're often so loose that they're constantly fall down to the mouth, then the employee plops it back over the nose, over and over again), and they don't tell customers who have their masks on their chins to fix their masks. Literally 5 out of 5 visits, I saw someone who DID NOT wear his/her mask. Usually an elderly person. Great selection of foods for American and Italian tastes, though I don't think they stock zucchini noodles anymore. I didn't see ground pork either, but there were LOTS of ground beef variations. Not great if you're looking for even a few Asian products, but I noticed they now have Panko breadcrumbs! Personally, all the cashiers I've encountered have been friendly, albeit a bit slow to do things. I also find that price tags are sometimes missing, which is annoying. read more

If you live in Dyker Heights and are in need of all things Italian, then you must try La Bella. I was in need of a few goodies so I stopped in a left with more than I needed. My first purchase was fresh Mozzarella. I purchased some Little Neck Clams, and a box of Barilla Linguine. Some fresh Basil was nice too. I grabbed a few Beef Steak Tomato's as well. Let me put this store on your radar, you'll thank me later. My family has been coming to this store for years. Back in the day, it was part of the C-town franchise but the owner gradually incorporated Italian specialties into the stock. Little by little it became the store locals know and love now. As someone who grew up traveling back and forth to Italy, I can tell you that this place is the real deal - fully stocked with all your basic grocery needs PLUS all the Italian specialty foods, bath soaps, deodorants, baking goods, and even cleaning products that us Italians know and love. In addition their cold cuts are the bomb and they make the BEST sandwiches. Their imported stuff is LIFE. Catering from here is also amazing. I've catered parties from here multiple times and everyone has raved about the food. Everything from their pasta trays to heroes has proven to be a crowd pleaser. You really cannot go wrong catering from here. The people working here are also super helpful. You may find yourself getting lost during your first few trips here (I still get confused when I shop here so don't feel so bad) but just ask around and someone will definitely help you find your way. Just try not to come here on a Saturday afternoon, as it will be packed and you'll need to play bumper cars with your shopping cart. read more

To whoever stumbles upon this review, and you are planning on shopping at La Bella, PLEASE check your receipt!! And I'll explain why. I usually buy lots of groceries and my receipts be lengthy so I don't bother checking them (it's bad I know). Then a few months ago, I only bought about 5 small items and my total was $30. I paid, but I was puzzled. I checked my receipt quickly afterwards and realized the items that were on "sale" marked as 2 for $4, ended up charging me the original price at $5 each. I brought it to their attention that these items said it was on sale. The lady went to the aisle to check and I was right. it indeed said it was 2 for $4 so she fixed it and gave me the refund. No problem there. I went in 2 more times a few weeks after and the same thing happened both times. I was charged the original price and not the sale price... I wasn't mad or anything, I just assumed that my La Bella club card wasn't working (even though I opened it in the summer, but oh wells). I just thought that was the case. They fixed the discount for me both times. Then about 3 days ago, it happened again. The bacon said it was on sale for $2.99 , but I was charged $4.19 for it. I know its like a dollar difference, but its just not right. Its not ethical. And the dollar differences can add up each time. I asked the cashier if my club card is the problem and she said no ur membership card went through, the discount should've showed. Which led me to believe that La Bella put these items up for "sale", but will charge you the original price knowing people don't check their receipts. Unless they forgot to change the discount in their computer system?? But this happened to me 4 times in a row, so there are absolutely no excuse to explain why each time the discount wasn't rendered into the system. And the cashiers have no idea about this so it's not their fault either. I suggest putting the sale items and discounts in the system BEFORE listing them up for sale to the public. Or maybe they just never planned on doing that. Please be careful. Check your receipts. Or stay away from La Bella. Very ashamed and disappointed in the management of this establishment. read more

Cute place. I love that it's all elderly people. I think this might be my new spot for once and a while because I like the vibe, but the prices are a little bit too pricey. Being within walking distance to La Bella Marketplace is both a blessing and a curse. A blessing that we can walk there any day of the week without having to worry about parking, and that it's stocked with all wonderfully fresh Italian specialties. The curse is that you NEVER leave there with only the items on your shopping list! I always get suckered into getting something that was just put on sale or is a weekly special. They must see me coming from up the block. The ideal time to come is really just when they open on a Sunday morning. You get in, and you get out. This place really packs them in, especially around holiday time, and is not meant for the claustrophobic. My only complaint is that it's really hard to navigate the little aisle with a big cart versus the smaller carts that they have. Sometimes there isn't a smaller cart to be found, and you are driving around like a bull in a china shop. If you're looking to look past all that, they really have a great deli counter with hot and old options that make planning meals during the week so simple and easy - especially when someone else does the work! They have a great meat selection, and even imported Italian goods to get a taste of home. Sucks they don't have a parking lot, but if you go off hours, this place is a real gem to shop at! read more

To Brian, the "manager" of Labella: Obviously you are a confused individual, to the point that you did not realize you were at work talking to a customer. To be hired as manager with the ZERO skill set you possess means that you are related to the owner or titled manager at minimum wage. YOU embarrassed yourself at your job, by mistreating a customer in front of other customers. YOU made yourself look like a complete idiot, and I am sure it is not the first nor last time. A manager or an employee does not speak the way you did and certainly does not wave their hand in another person's face. That behavior may be allowed in your community however that disrespectful behavior on the street will get you hurt, so please try it on the wrong person. At best, your mannerisms earned a laugh but I was also embarrassed for you over your classless, unprofessional and mixed up demeanor. You clearly do not know how to interact with the public. As a manager, whether $15 an hour or not, you are supposed to deescalate a situation and not speak badly to, yell at or disrespect any paying customer. Did you forget that you were at work and not on a reality show acting like a diva for ratings. Did you not hear Alissa say she acknowledged she owed me $7, so why did you walk off with the drawer to count it. Then when I walked over to your booth to see what was going on, you are sitting there texting and you slam the door in my face. You are disgusting. And if I could file a police report for being touched by your employee and for her taking my money out of my hand I would because that is what she did. The transaction was finalized. The discrepancy, which was not even a discrepancy because Alissa admitted she gave me the wrong change, was not the $70 so what right did Alissa have to take $70 out of my hand 45 seconds after she gave it to me and then Brian walk away with my other $7 in the drawer. To the customers that shop at LaBella Marketplace I did not wake up in a bad mood. I was totally disrespected and screamed at by Brian and Alissa, PAID employees of LaBella Marketplace. And while I am at it, how many times have you been overcharged because I can tell you that every single time I shopped there I was overcharged $1 - $3 a trip. And let's be reasonable who is going to drive back, hunt for a spot and get annoyed trying to tell the child running the store that they were overcharged. So $1 here and $1 there times 1,000,000 times equates to $1,000,000 of our money. I'm done with your nonsense Labella Marketplace ... the community has been loyal and made you rich and time and time again, your staff disrespects us. The aisles are much too narrow for my liking - as in if they have promo display or there's a cart on one side, you have just enough space to pass with your cart. There's no minimum on credit cards. Watch out for stale and spoiled products! Visiting from out of town, spent over $55 at this store. Basket cheese with an expiration date 10 days from the date of my purchase. Spoil, yellow inside, notte milky white. AttempTed to return it next day. Misplaced receipt, so they said they couldn't take it back. I used the same club card I've had for a decade. They said they had no way of checking, the manager is not in. This was after 10 am! The deli guy, Alex, insinuated that I had left it out, unrefrigerated. So much for customer service, trying to humiliate me in front of other customers. PS: When I returned a few hours later, they were able to retrieve a copy of my receipt, No apology from them This is the same store that charges 50 cents PLUS TAX for a bag, This store charges employees for small bottles of water! Today is Tuesday, I went there on Saturday afternoon. I purchased cold cuts and meat, which ended up in the garbage. I threw out a pound of ground veal that cost me $9.67 because it was rancid. I threw out Shadybrook Farms Turkey breast, date of expiration is Oct. 3rd, out in the garbage today (today's date is 9/28). I never smelled turkey breast that bad before. I nearly vomitted. I threw out a pound of Boar's Head freshly cut chicken breast yesterday, 2 days after purchasing it. I threw out 2 more packages of meat, Bell and Evans chicken cutlets expires tomorrow. I also threw out imported Buffalo Mozzarella half molded. This store should be ashamed of themselves and is a disgrace!!!! The price gauging and not abiding by sale items once at the cash register is the biggest scam that I've ever seen. I called the store, as I don't live nearby and the customer service rep stated that there is a 24 period to return meat and deli items. Was here today to purchase some basic items. The store was well stocked and it was not very busy since I went in the afternoon. However, the cashiers were painfully slow. There were five customers total in line, and 6 open registers. One cashier decided not to take any more customers while he stopped for 2 minutes to have a water break. When it was finally my turn to go up and pay, I asked to buy a plastic bag (since I forgot to bring one) and to my surprise they didn't have any for sale.
