Miss their show years ago when it was under the tent. Was able to catch it with kiddos this time at Chase Center. The setup was wonderful. The balloon act was very interactive. She swings by right in front of us and my little ones were thrilled to see her being pushed back to the stage. Awesome performance. Like the rest of Cirque Du Soleil shows. It was nicely designed and executed. the lighting, the set up, the music, the performance and the acts were fascinating. Don't mind watching it again in the future! read more

We paid $90 per ticket Jan 2024 and with taxes 3 tickets were $367. We saw it in the Climate Arena in Seattle. It wasn't worth the money. At best, I'd only give them $20 per ticket for what we saw. They sold tickets waaaaaay too far up in the arena. You couldn't see a damn thing that high up. And you certainly couldn't see $90 worth. FWIW, that arena is pathetic. The temperature where we were sitting was at least 85 degrees. Everyone around me was complaining it was stifling. The acrobats were impressive, but all the clown show schtick was stupid and not the least bit entertaining. Cirque du Soleil has gotten massively watered down from the first time I saw a show 25 years ago. I'm never wasting my money on a Cirque du Soleil again. And even if I got free tickets, I would have to be desperate to fill my time. read more

We went to the Saturday show in Seattle January20th. Acrobats are amazingly talented. The stage set up (circle with only one part on each side viewable) and the storyline made it difficult to follow and the the clown shtick was not my brand of entertainment but the real downer to the experience was the audience and Climate Pledge staff. Times are clearly given (doors and show start time) yet there were SO MANY people trickling in late and walking in front of us that we missed much of the first 15 minutes. The ushers were SUPER unhelpful with seat location direction that many people were using their phone flashlights to find their seats in the dark theater. Several screaming babies were never taken out of the theater. Just screamed for a good portion of the show. The mother of the (about 9 year old) child sitting next to us never once asked him to quiet down or stop flailing his arms and legs so he was kicking us and the poor guys head in front of us (we were in the rail seats). I had to ask him at one point when he was banging on the metal bar in front of us so loudly it was vibrating. The usher standing and leaning on the bar right next to me never once assisted anyone or asked one of the MANY people recording the ENTIRE show on their lit up phones to stop. She was on her phone on FB herself for much of the show. Will be hesitent to spend money on frivolous entertainment like this in the future. I just saw this show at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas. Let me preface by saying I have never been to a Cirque Du Soleil performance. So I really have no point of reference to compare nor contrast their different shows. However to me this shouldn't matter, an event succeeds or fails on its on merits. My understanding is that each Cirque Du Soleil has a storyline which ties together the elaborate sets and acrobatics. Corteo, influenced by Frederic Fellini's "I Clown" has a simple plot: it's a clown's fantasized specifics of his funeral. While I did like the idea of the performance's plot, my attention was lost by the second act. I must say the first half of the show was initially compelling and easy to follow. Basically the first part is told from the perspective of the clown from his death bed. Thus angels are levitating from the arena's roof, scantily claded performers swing from chandeliers and a big oaf provides some of the night's comedy. One minute your gaze is fixed on someone swinging or attempting a death defying feat. The next, someone is doing moves even Simon Biles would be jealous of. Since there is very little spoken word except some monologue in Spanish the acrobatic, an assemblage of a storyline. While I did enjoy the first half of the performance I felt its simple aesthetics, in lieu of elaborate ones lessened its impact. In my opinion at this level I feel going "Over the Top" is more warranted than playing it safe. In addition ever so often during the show I did notice the audience's awes changing to yawns. Were they anticipating more? Pyrotechnics? Does having this event in the same venue where big acts perform create a set of expectations? Fortunately the choice to counterbalance humor against the increasing one-up manship of feats kept me interested. After a brief intermission the second half of the show came tumbling in, so to speak and everything went awry after that point. What made the first half enjoyable was disregarded in the second part. Sequences thereafter were lacking in imagination. For example the scene opener had an obligatory tight rope number I've seen a million times. Interludes were piled on one another without any context And the piêce de resistance a random "Romeo & Juilet" skit that didn't fit at all within the performance, had me throwing my hands up in resignation. Even the final sequence of the show felt tacked on. The goal of an artist should be to move us in some way, even in disdain. Boredom and banality should never be the desired effect. Many years ago I saw a ballet at The Carver Theater. It used extremely intricate dance numbers alongside the music of Billi Holiday to explain a story. It was absolutely fantastic. I think Corteo was trying to do the same thing. Unfortunately the clown car was on "Autopilot" rather than "drive" that afternoon. read more

We went to see this show based on our experience of previous Cirque Soleil shows in Las Vegas and seeing previews of this show on the internet looked good. This show is nothing like any other Cirque Soleil shows we've seen it's like a opera. Horrible show don't waste your money. I felt like I was watching AGT on TV. And the biggest problem we had came in the second half of the show they announced there was a technical difficulty issue with the show and the lights came on and everyone just started to look lost twenty minutes later still no show or any announcements people started to leave and so did we. (this is for the arena tour - sort by date on here to see reviews for this particular performance as the previous version of Corteo in the tent was definitely better) - Despite having its moments, and some great costumes, this show isn't even on the same planet as other Cirque du Soleil shows. The show is obviously trying to be a nod and throwback to classic circus acts more than the other contemporary circus shows, but it falls flat. The ho-hum circus feats are spaced out between very ham-fisted skits and sloppily done acts that range from unimpressive to cringeworthy. Definitely won't be doing this one again, and may have a tough time convincing the family to go to Cirque when it comes around next time. When you pay that kind of money for a performance, you expect a certain level of quality that just isn't in this show. read more

Corteo was disappointing for us. However, we've been attending Cirque productions for over two decades and are quite particular. Corteo felt slow. We would have liked to see more acts in place of the skits that we couldn't understand and didn't enjoy at all. It's hard to say any cirque du soleil show is bad, however compared to their other shows, and even if this is your 1st cirque du soleil show. It misses the mark. We saw this show in Sacramento. I saw one reviewer say they left after intermission. I can unfortunately say I understand where they're coming from. But pleaseeee don't leave after intermission. After intermission it gets wayyyyy better. Just a few tweaks here and there could make it so much better. 1. Floating angles? Come on have them in the proper clothing with wings and do some acrobats in the air maybe even on a ring doing slow twirls. 2. The intermission skits 2 in Particular were more comedy driven. However be more creative and funnier. There were 2 that I just thought were lame. Don't want to give too much away. You didn't hear too much laughter or clapping in the end. 3. Skills, grandeur it just was missing the mark. With the girls flipping in the air they used a closer flipping method. Come on a huge stage like golden 1 center. And bigger platform you expect a bigger performance. It wasn't impressive. 4. Theme of the death and storytelling a little bit boring. It needs to be a little quicker like comedy even though death theme. 5. The jugglers again missing the mark. Impress us. If juggling have 4 people juggle between themselves on stage. Literally just 2 people juggling very basic. Then the ring tossing again lame. Unfortunately same sentiment with ladder guy. Lots of hype for a small short balance act. POSITIVES 1. Love the actors and acting! Especially the star dead guy. Everyone on the cast I think is fantastic! Energy acting positivity. 2. At golden 1 center. I watched this show in Mexico City many years ago. It was performed in a big top. I decided to watch the arena version and I was kind of disappointed. I am a musician and I recognize good songs and good musicians easily. I remember I was impressed with the guitar player on the big top show. He was powerful, virtuous and perfect. On this arena version there's a girl talentless making the guitar sound the child version of my son's ukulele. The pole act where she should play as a professional, she look dumb and lost and I even thought that was a track playing instead of being live played. Shame on you, cirque du soleil. The rest of the band is clearly talented but the show did not need this cheap version of a guitar player. I'm sure you guys can find waaaaaaay better playing on the streets. read more

Do NOT buy section 200 seats. This venue isn't great for this unless you are sitting maybe towards the bottom. Our tickets were in section 200 on the 6th floor yes that's right 6th floor ..so we were VERY high looking down at this tiny stage. there were very limited acrobatics - it was mostly the not-funny clown gags in between. Not sure if this is due to safety concerns since a acrobatic performer died not long ago during a show or what but it was absolutely not worth $122/ticket . AND The seating area was SO dark we couldn't really see where we were stepping and it made me feel uneasy ( I fell and broke my wrist in May so on I'm very uneasy climbing steps and get in and out of seats in dim lit areas) read more

This review is for the Corteo performance in Denver during the week of August 17 2019, at the Pepsi Center. I have seen at least 30 live performances of Cirque from Orlando to Vegas, Denver to New York. By far this was the most disappointing, nay, the ONLY disappointing one, I've ever seen. I was a diehard fan until this production. Perhaps it was because of the venue; the Denver Pepsi Center is home to the Nuggets and the Avalanche (basketball and hockey) and is terrific for a concert venue. But when you pay over $150/seat (which would have been a terrific seat in the Big White Tent), but in the Pepsi Center you find you're in the nosebleed section, it was a vast disappointment. Too far away to see the stage and there were no overhead acrobatics like in every other Cirque I've attended. This was, by Cirque standards, not a particularly thrilling ohmygod experience like they usually are. This was more humdrum and more representative of a local college aerial gymnastic production. Honestly, perhaps because of the rotten seating at the Pepsi Center (where MOST of the seats are bad), maybe that's why it was so boring. Or maybe it was just because the production itself was tired and unimaginative. The music was great, the Master of Ceremonies' traditional symphonic whistling was terrific, but the rest? Two Stars seems kinda harsh for a Cirque fan like myself -- but remember -- two stars on Yelp = meh, I've experienced better. I have. Your average Cirque show is better than this. It didn't stink, it wasn't as boring as some are saying -- but it wasn't something to recommend others see... which likely explains why a shocking number of seats were empty on a Thursday night. The Forum offered a handful of WOW seats on the floor. These were the nouveau CRAMPED SEATING SEATS facilities are introducing. Seats I hope one day are erased in a class action lawsuit. If the place was packed and I had fatties on each side of me, I'd ask for most of my ticket price back or threaten litigation. Back to the lack of attendees. The Forum wrote it off as a weeknight problem. No, the reason why the place was half empty is because word of mouth likely destroyed the seat values. Based upon what I saw I'd say floor seats should have been $100, close balcony $50, distant balcony $25. Sure, if weekends were selling, charge what you like, but it's an insult the performers to break the necks before a half empty audience. The show itself? I'd seen it on video years ago. To bother to bring this show back into its new form demanded a clarity of the story. Cirque has this terribly annoying tendency to PRETEND to have a story instead of DELIVER one. To be fair most of their shows would be damaged by forcing a story upon it whereas CORTEO would have benefited. You could almost FEEL what's going on and so why not actually pull out a painter's brush and draw us that picture. The show's balance of acts was mostly okay. Yes, I've seen more thrilling acrobatics before in other shows, but because of the incident at KA I have a feeling lawyers went threw all these shows and made them %25 safer. I believe the dude on the bike was supposed to be on a high-wire, not a glorified string puppet. The only painful act for me was the Romeo and Juliet crepeola. It ran REEEEAAAAAALLLLLLYYYYY long and then -- in a most twisted sense of sick humor -- the 'director' announced 'Act Two'. Shakespeare typically runs in five acts -- and so it's as if the show became self-aware and promised that this asinine nothing of a nothing would run the remainder of our lives. Cirque has this really stubborn history of sticking with something no matter how obviously terrible the choice is. I'm certain of two things. One, any person with any theater experience whatsoever could concoct a better comic to replace this appalling sequence. Second, if Cirque were handed the best idea of 100 said people, they wouldn't do it to save the lives of a thousand baby kittens. The best moment of the show happened someone left the stage altogether. That's kind of a bad sign, if you think about it. That whatever else was on stage was just okay. read more

Last Saturday, I watched the Cirque du Soleil show Corteo at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, CT and I thought the show was great. I took the drive out from NYC and the drive was about an hour a half because of traffic, the drive back was only an hour. This was my third Cirque show and I am hooked for life, I love the aerobatics, the humor and I love the costumes and all three were displayed in Corteo. The show was so entertaining for all age groups, I saw a good number of kids but I also saw a good number of older adults in attendance. The show was a little under 2 hrs with a 20 min intermission in between. I highly recommend. read more

Usually I am blown away by the athleticism and courage of the performers, but this time it seemed more like a training show. The gymnastics were pretty lame (looked like merely a warm up) and the acrobatics were okay but again, nothing exciting. And, it was very expensive. I'd skip this one and wait for them to put something more compelling out there! read more

We have been to a couple of these shows in the past but in smaller venues and never cease to be amazed, truly awesome shows. So we were expecting something similar, if not even more impressive, on the big stage at climate pledge arena and it was anything but that. It was beautiful as always, although the story was hard to follow and didn't make much sense, but most of the awe inspiring athleticism was missing, all about tumbling and doing some flips and some silly clown type activity. Not knowing the arena very well we made the mistake of getting tickets on the second level. Absolutely do not do this. It's terribly expensive on the first level but you're super far away on the second level, much, much higher than the highest performer being dropped in from the ceiling and any of the pieces of the set, you just lose the perspective entirely of what the show is meant to be. Cirque Du Soleil tried to do something closer to an actual circus show with the presentation of Corteo. The show was interesting, spontaneous and fun, though slow at points. The story involves a clown who watches his own funeral taking place in a carnival-like atmosphere. It's setup as a real "outside looking in" situation. The joyous procession is a festive parade imagined by the clown. As you begin to discover this mysterious space between heaven and earth you get to know the clown and consider the humanity of us all. There were many acts in this show compared to other Cirque Du Soleil offerings but I have a few favorites. The Adagio Duet, Cyr Wheel, and Paradise were the more memorable. The Adagio Duet is a duet where ballet dancers use contortion and hand-balancing to enhance the routine. The duet of "little people" did majority of the act on a vertical ring set into a pivoting platform. The Cyr Wheel features four artists that perform group and solo routines on a large metal hoop. It was a very detailed and upbeat performance. Paradise was a high flying and bouncing act that constantly keeps you gasping. It was a mashup between a trampoline and high-wire act. My wife and I had a really great time and were not let down by Cirque Du Soleil. read more

I've seen several Cirque du Soleil shows, in Austin and in Las Vegas. All of them, except Corteo were spectacular. While there were a few impressive acts, overall Corteo was a disappointment and did not rise to entertainment level of any of the other shows done by Cirque du Soleil. Most of the acts seemed goofy and a bit disorganized. They reminded me of slapstick acts that weren't really funny or entertaining. The Moody Center, as a venue, was great once you got inside, but parking was extremely difficult and there was no traffic control to facilitate/expedite parking. In fact, all but one of the streets reasonably close to the parking garage were simply barricaded off resulting in extremely long lines and delays. If you attend events at the Moody Center I suggest that you do not prepay the $49 for parking in the adjacent garage. Instead, I suggest parking at least a couple of blocks away from Moody Center so that you're not stuck in traffic for an hour like I was. read more

Only the last portion with several high bars and several performers came close to a usual Cirque performance. The costuming was not complete as there was lack of total makeup and full coverage effects. Music was good as usual. Would not recommend. read more

my 3rd cirque show... i really like this one ... i understood the storyline this time. i love most of the acts. the chandelier swinging was wow. Another reason i like this one a lot is because this one had an interactive moment where they set off this little woman in a big balloon and the audience gets to push her up in the air and pass her around the seating area....that was cute. read more

I saw Dralion when it came through in '00 or '01 and I was mesmirized. It was one of the most moving, beautiful things I had ever seen. It also made me think of the human body in a new way. For Corteo I splurged and got the VIP treatment. Yes, the Tapis Rouge. It was great. Parking (up close) is included, and once inside the special tent you wander around indulging on all the wine and hors d'eouvres you want. The lighting is dim and sultry, the couches and chairs are comfy, and the whole atmosphere feels just the way Cirque du Soleil should. If you can afford it, you should try it at least once. Even if you can't afford it, consider trying it. I was broker than a mule piggybacking an elephant, but I felt absolutely rich and luxurious for a few splendid hours. The show itself was of course wonderful. The tiny woman being bounced around the crowd made us all nine years old again, but I think I liked the choreographing of the bed acrobatics the best. This year I plan to take my children, who are 10 and 13. It's expensive, but such a wonderful thing to see and to support...an art I hope is never lost. To give you an idea of how thoroughly this show entertains, I brought my older child to Dralian we both had our eyes and mouths wide open most of the time. And that was a six year-old. On a practical and yet philosophical note, it is so important to support theater and human circus shows like this one. There is life beyond cable and video games and even the internet (gasp) and there are some things that can touch us and remind us what an incredible thing it is to be human and to be alive. I'm a closet Cirque fan. I go whenever I get the chance. Vegas or when they're in Portland. I have to say I was disappointed with this showing. It had some potential but the costumes were not as great as other shows I've seen. And the acts were just not as good. When the guy with a ladder, the people with large hula hoops, and the 4 women hanging from chandeliers are the best acts....they could've lost a bunch of acts as they were not impressive at all. For reference I've seen Ka, O, and Varekai live. I've also seen Alegria and Dralion on TV. read more

With eyes wide open, an orgasmic visual feast of angels, harlequins and colorful human acrobatics...the orchestration of human artistry amazes me. With eyes closed, a mlange of French, Spanish and Italian voices amid the sounds of operatic whispers, drums and Spanish guitars...absolutely intoxicating. The violin solo weeps tears of celebration that makes my heart come out of its shell and into the open air. The show, filled with mysterious spontaneity of flying bicycles, bouncing beds, dances in air, helium balloons, illustrates simultaneously a timeless dream and reality. The festive cortege reminds us that there is beauty that comes with death. Long live Corteo!!! After that evening, even I want to quit my day job and join the circus. I better start training myself on doing the splits. Tips: As an alternative to the onsite parking, there is also a parking garage about a block away and it charges a flat $7 all night during the weekends. read more

Bought tickets for my sweetie and I to go see Corteo for Valentine's Day. I've seen several performances of theirs on television, but never live. The set up is great, you go into the entrance on your ticket, and are immediately in the shopping/food tent. Obviously, they are trying to sell their merchandise, it's everywhere and kinda pricey, even for souvenir stuff. But, of course we bought stuff. Getting to our seats, we have like the best seats ever. Center of the circle, and about half way back with no one in front of us. The way the stage is set up, everyone has a chance for a great seat, the stage is two sided and rotates in a circle. The anticipation of the show starting was great as well, with performers running through the aisles keeping us all entertained. The show itself is two and a half hours with a thirty minute break in the middle. (For merchandising, of course.) I love the show and everything about it, especially since I had no expectations. Parts of the show transported me to my childhood, especially anything that involved effortless flying. A jumbo grin and eyes wide open waiting for what was coming next. The performers are incredible, and the mere thought of producing this monster blows my mind. The tent is split up into sections, so even though the venue holds over 2500 people, it didn't feel or look like there were that many. Separate concessions, merchandise tents, and restrooms keep the experience a little more managed, and not the chaos of normal events of that size. We had a fantastic time, and would not have changed the evening for the world. read more

Usually, I have to fly to Las Vegas for Cirque du Soleil Show. I feel so lucky this year, after their last year tour in DC, Verakai. The Cirque de Soleil is come to me! To Washington DC one more time! And this time is a lovely performance Corteo! I got my self three of Corteo coffee mugs, DVD and the CD after the show. That showing how much I love this show! I come and see them at their first day performance! Just want to let you all know, that they will be in DC until November 26th! So hurry up and get your tickets and don't missed this amazing experience! One of my favorite part of the show is when the 'tiny lady' bouncing around with a big balloons to the audience and make a funny sounds and expression like a little girl. It's hilarious! Also those beautiful angels that moves gracefully, spread the sparkle that flowing down to the stage! And those lovely dancers that swinging, spinning, hanging and flying amazingly with a big chandelier on the sky! Breathtaking! I can't stop admire how awesome and amazing they are! I'll bet they had very hard discipline, intense practice and training for all that complicated and risky moves! I am telling you! You don't want to missed this lovely performances! I was so amazed and speechless in awe! All that exciting acrobats! The enchanting music! The drama! The dance! The juggle! I'm a big fan of Cirque du Soleil, I will go a distance to see a show... so this past Saturday we went to Rockford IL to enjoy Corteo... and it's not what I was expecting. I'm not talking about actual acts, as usual they are professional and skilled, but the scenes in between..?! Honestly I just wanted to skip many of them, for example the scene of Romeo and Juliet... what was that..?! Complete waste of time and interest... Yes, some shows are better than others but usually very well coordinated, one act flows into another... I understand this show is about "clown's funeral" and the appreciation of life in general but again why do you need so many "angels" hanging from the ceiling without any real purpose or entertainment..?! This show was absolutely amazing, and this was my tenth Cirque du Soleil show, but boy was it amazing. I saw the show when it was in the tent. It was good, but could have been better. Now that the show is in stadium touring form, it is much more grand, less fill ins, much more gymnastics, and TONS of acrobatics, all to be complimented by outstanding live music. The show is nothing short of amazing. The story line changes so no two shows, unless they're doing the same one, are the same. Our show, although difficult to follow and understand, was an incredible production. The circus folk, or stars, or whatever the generic name for a person who does all that crazy stuff in a circus is, performed stunts that were so much fun to watch. Some of the things these people are able to do are utterly amazing, most of it bordered on absurd. There are no lions, tigers or bears (oh my), but there are all sorts of props that tease your imagination and tickle your sense of reality. The music is beautifully performed, the show is amazingly choreographed, and the production is brilliantly executed. Cirque Du Soleil is fantastic. read more

Corteo was adorable. I took my sig other to see it for our anniversary. I got us front row seats and it was really cute. Not as showy as the non- traveling shows, but really good nonetheless. I saw the show in San Jose. They had a tent for VIP-ers with strawberries and a chocolate fondue fountain, champagne, etc. It was really cute. Afterwards, we went over to Melting Pot for a late night cheese and dessert fondue snack. mmm, yum. :) Ops, getting off track-- overall, great show (and great night)! read more

The show was totally amazing from start to finish, and the story line ...... beautiful. I would see this show again.
