This experience was booked as a surprise from my spouse and I can say I enjoyed it! The lobby takes advantage of the historical significance of the building itself (take a tour for more info, won't give away spoilers!). The coffee was a nice treat before we went around the different business floors. It was awesome to learn the history of the radio and recording portions of this - seeing some of the studios in person was also fun for me as a musician. The tour guide was awesome and made what we saw more significant, thank you for offering this as a way to learn more about the history and brand. It was awesome to see the record press area and learn about the market today and just how much demand there is for this lasting media medium. Will be back next time I'm in to see the factory in action (they were out for holiday, understandable)! Plan this if you're in the area!
An innovative jewel in Asheville's crown, Citizen Vinyl is part record-pressing factory, part history lesson, part cafe and part kick-back lounge. Loved the vinyl playlist, loved my Curried Cauliflower Bowl, loved the friendly service and easy vibe, loved looking around at years of time and music distilled into one inimitable concept. I waited too long to experience this place - don't make the same mistake.
I was SO excited for Citizen Vinyl. It was one of my only non-negotiables in visiting Asheville. Was a bit disappointed to come in and realize that the food is not served daily (when we'd planned to visit for breakfast) and also there was something wrong with the AC, so it was so hot we chose to not sit too long. It's a gorgeous space, and super cool concept being a record store and cafe. It would be my favorite place to sit and work if I lived in the area! I'd try again next time I visited, for sure.
Half the reason we came here were for a music filled atmosphere and some drinks to sip and chat with. I will be dramatic for a second and say this is the best latte, coming from a coffee snob, I have ever had. I rarely receive latte art from a cafe, so I was so excited to see they poured in some extra love for our drinks. I'll highly highly recommend to you the housemade honey syrup they make. It's not so much the honey flavor, but the soft sweetness it brings to the coffee without even tasting like syrup at all. It was beautifully frothed on the top and came in the perfect cup to sip from. Absolutely phenomenal. The vinyl selection was small but very intimate. They have a small selection of gifts and merchandise as well. The tiny restaurant/bakery was closed the day we came, along with the vinyl are as well (we came during the weekend) but it was so so cool to see through the clear glass wall the production area of how they create vinyl. Heck they have their own recording studio available there as well. Such nice folks too!
The sort of thing you would expect to find in Asheville, this is a retro shop that prints vinyl records and also has a large cafe. I missed the tour, but stopped in for a quick bite. Their chai was heavily spiced with an intriguing flavor and only a hint of tea aftertaste. The pastry they had on display actually wasn't that great, but I took a nice and chewy chocolate chip cookie to go. The cafe was large and would be a nice place to sit.
A neat spot, but not what I expected. You can watch them press actual records through a giant window, which was VERY cool! They offer tours, but only for 8 people at a time twice a day. We wanted to get a tour, but not had spots left for days we were available because they are so small. If you want a tour, book in advance! They have a record store in the building as well, but it's very small. They do sell cool merch and also decorative vinyls that they press themselves - no music, simply for display. They're very pretty. A neat experience overall, although a bit underwhelming.
In the same shared space as Sessions Cafe, this little record shop won our hearts. You can find used records and records pressed in-house, They also sell merch and have artwork that is printed on-site as well. We saw someone hard at work making records...was pretty cool to watch. We picked up a print and a record -- and they picked up a family full of fans. We love this place and will definitely come back next time we're in town.
What a cool place!! This is a vinyl record store, coffee/pastry shop and cafe all rolled into one. It is a large space with plenty of seating, so when you are finished looking at the records, you can take a minute to grab a coffee, or eat a sandwich with a friend. It was great for me, because I was able to work on my computer while my husband looked at the records. Another thing that is super cool about this place is that they cut vinyls for musicians.
I can't believe I've lived here this long, and didn't know the spot existed. Close to downtown, on a little side street, resides, citizen vinyl, and session Café. This is the perfect spot to browse records, listen to some classical music, and have either a Coffee Or Cocktail. They are pretty active online, so you can always see the schedule and hours there. They tend to have a few classical music happenings, as well as some poetry reads and other community art events. The space itself is very beautiful. Open, but somehow still cozy. At the session café, there are some light breakfast options, but they are pretty pricey. They have muffins and cookies that are affordable, but quiches and parfaits that are on the more expensive side. . Everything looks delicious. Since it was afternoon, I opted for a cocktail. They have a small menu, but don't let that deter you. It is still very diverse, and uniquely tailored to the space. The cocktail with espresso was the name of the tropical depression and I loved it. Small and not sweet but full of flavor. Also not cheap but definitely good quality. The service was wonderful, but there can be a long line at times because we weren't instructed to order at the bar regardless of cafe or cocktail. I got some beautiful jazz on a Sunday afternoon and was able to read my book at a cute little table. There's plenty of space whether you are meeting a friend or solo.

Came to Hot Springs at the end of May 2025 and was very happy to find this gem open! Parking is located on the end of the block or on the main road and easy to find. It is a small space with only a few tables and a small bar with windows facing the street/sidewalk. There is also a small register and window to the outside that you can walk up and order to-go. I walked in and ordered a small pizza salad with chicken added to the Caesar. The two came out in separate containers and when I got to my Airbnb I put the salad on top of the pizza slices and ate some side by side. The pizza was thin and flavorful with the pesto and mozzarella. The Caesar had fresh lettuce, but the chicken wasn't my favorite. I played it safe this visit with my order, but will definitely be back and maybe pick a local favorite! read more
Such a magical space. I love the ambiance here. This would be my #1 pick for a spot to work at in Asheville. I love that I can have a latte when I start work and a whiskey when I am ending it. The space is so chill, feels like a nice hug and bonus for all the record and nice tunes. read more

I had the opportunity to tour Citizen Vinyl. It is located on the first floor on the Asheville Citizen Times building, across from the Grove Arcade. The tour included the building's history. The three story building was home to two newspapers and a radio station, WWNC. I enjoy architecture so learned that the building was constructed in 1939 out of concrete, granite and limestone and is Art Moderne Design. 20,000 glass blocks allow for light into the building. Citizen Vinyl also has a recording studio has taken the space of the former radio station. Photos were not allowed during the part of the tour we were in the factory as they may have some unique methods on the way they press records. They offer colors and patterns instead of just the typical black records. If you get a chance take a tour here or just go to the cafe and store and look around. read more

Went to a Pop-Up on June 14th at Citizen Vinyl, Sessions Cafe. My first Pop-Up experience and it was awesome!! Uncle Thom and I ordered all three of the offerings and some wine, of course. Our favorite was the pork belly dish, ya'll these pork belly bites were amazing!! Never enjoyed pork belly until Chef Paul Cressend's preparation, bit of a crunch and local honey. Thom hogged the majority of the mushroom toast, while I enjoyed the Jambalaya. I was able to steal one slice of the mushroom toast and it melted in my mouth with the whipped ricotta. Looking forward to more Pop-Ups with Chef Paul! read more
This spot is SO COOL. What's better than cocktails, coffee and records all in one place? Nothing!! Very welcoming and lots of records to choose from. They even had art from local artists and old refurbished record players and radios! read more

I love this place. It's in a gorgeous 20's building, has great coffee, lovely breakfast sandwiches, incredibly friendly staff, and just a great overall vibe. The record production area was closed when we were there, but was interesting to look through the glass regardless. The outdoor seating is on a really nice section of a small street, across from another beauty of a building. We'll be going back, whenever we're in town. read more

Such a cool and cute place. Loved the plants and muted colors that decorated the space. Stumbled upon this place 15 min before they closed on Christmas Eve. The staff still served me with a smile and it was a delish cup of coffee. read more

Amazing chill spot to relax, have a coffee, try a pastry or something on their lunch menu. It's so quaint and love the old school feel of it. I have the jerk pork sandwich and it was amazing. Came out piping hot and seasoned so well. Great to pop in after a day of shopping and take a load off. read more
This place has a vibe unlike any other. John Lennon playing over the speakers, cold brew in hand, vinyl records as the decor...what a place! I stopped into grab a coffee and I wished I would have allowed for more time here. People were at the presses in the back but I didn't get to stop and see what they were up to-don't make the same mistake! They have performances in house so be sure to check the wall of albums of the day and to see what events are happening. read more

I love the ambiance / vibe better than I do the food/coffee. I have gotten chai tea (too sweet for my taste), and a cappuccino before (good Capp!!), and a breakfast sammy. I love the vibe here, it's very casual and a great place to sit and talk- lots of seating and good art / decorations. read more

Thanks to Esquire magazine's Best Bars in America 2022 for pointing us to this gem, Session, within the record shop. Our visit was a relaxing experience, with friendly service for a late day cocktail after shopping. It was so enjoyable we went back the next day as well. Session serves up a delightful Negroni, but my personal favorite was the Cultura Revolver. As someone who is not a fan of tequila, I was pleasantly surprised to find a drink with tequila that was so good! Take some time to peruse through the collection of records for sale to enhance the entire experience. Although we didn't eat there, a local shop owner advised us that the food is also good. Will have to grab a bite next time we visit.... read more

This place is so freakin cool. The coffee and pastries are so good, the space is big with tons of places to sit and hang or do work, the playlist rocks, and the staff are friendly. Great for dates, casual work meetings, or just a place to go decompress. CANNOT recommend it enough. Wish they were open all day! Also they have the best cold brew in Asheville (in my opinion). read more
One of the last 30 locations that does vinyl work. Whether its making brand new vinyls, or transcribing modern music to one, they do it all here in the historic what used to be a radio tower. Theres a free tour here as well that takes you behind the scene and is a must have if you are visiting! The vibes and ambience is very chill, I love the lighting and decor. The food and drinks cater to anyone and everyone. Vegan friendly. Grab a cocktail or special drink and sit down and relax! read more

A fun vintage modern esthetic. Lots of records of non main stream music and live record playing over surround sound system. Cute bar set up with either coffee/cocktail/beer/wine selections. Kitchen was closed when we visited, but they had baked goods available in a display case. The upstairs is cool...more of an office/lounge space. read more
