I have been a customer of Happy State Bank for at least 15 years. HSB was awesome before allowing…read moreitself to be bought out a few years ago by Centennial Bank. Recently, a number of fraudulent charges were attempted by someone in Washington. These charges were all listed the same way: TMobile EIP Payment" which tells me someone was trying to purchase a phone with my money. I got a text from Centennial alerting me of the fraud and provided me a phone number to call the Fraud Department to discuss. So, I called, the rep read off all of the suspected fraud charges, and I advised all of the suspected fraud charges were, in fact, fraudulent. I thought I was in the clear; however, the following day, my account was overdraft with one of the fraudulent charges in the amount of $920!! I went to a local branch, explained what happened, and was told the fraud investigation could take anywhere from 2 weeks to 60 days!! I asked if I would just remain negative until then. Yes was the answer! Also, the bank would review the overdraft, and they MIGHT refund the overdrafts. Mind you, the $920 the bank allowed through to my account was labeled the same as all of the others. A kindergarten child would have been able to understand this, but not Happy State! I was advised I had no further recourse, and my loyalty as a customer for so many years was completely disregarded. Happy State Bank and Centennial Bank DO NOT VALUE CUSTOMERS!! It eventually got worked out, but I'm now in the process of changing banks. Good luck to you if you choose this Bank because you will never matter to this bank!

That's what happened to us. So instead of having two transactions in overdraft they made it where we had five. This should be considered theft. Not good for customers.

They ran the wrong amount we where asking for , claimed we "we didn't need the loan", and said we weren't good enough customers. No loan officer gave us a legitimate reason for their decision. The manner that I was spoken to was a first for me as disrespectful, belittling, and extremely rude. TRUST ME there are plenty of other institutions to pick from in amarillo SO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE . We applied for a loan somewhere else and got approved same day for more money.

I've had an account here for 30+ years, but will be closing it ASAP. After accusing my employer of…read moreshorting my check and turning down a promotion in the process, I checked with the bank. Apparently, they withhold a car payment every time a check gets deposited. So I unwittingly paid twice this month and missed out on that promotion. Last month they deactivated my debit card without notice because they wanted me to come in and switch to a chipped card. No call, email, or letter. My card just started getting declined with the message "card expired" even though it was not expired. Then, after switching, my card was declined several more times while I was out of town and after 5:00. There is no 24-hour help line and I almost had to sleep in my car. Every time the explanation was that something had been set up wrong on my new card. But it kept happening. There were overdraft fees and lots of embarrassment. And all this time there was way more than plenty of money in my account to cover the charges. Employees were minimally apologetic.
