I went to the Montville office and tried to roll my CD over into another one. The poor woman waiting on me had never saw me before and I had never saw her. No big deal so I thought. When she went on the computer, she said she needed to update my information. Ok, shouldn't be an issue right? Wrong! First the poor girl couldn't scan my drivers license. She got assistance with that, then informed me my employer that was listed was a company I left in 1996. I said I had not worked there since 1996 and had worked for 3 different companies since then, with direct deposit from these companies, so the credit union already knew these employers. I then said "I am not working now and am retired". I asked if she had the right account? I was informed it was, but then she asked my wife where she worked. My wife has not worked since 1996. The woman said she needed my wife to supply her with the employer she worked at in 1996. I thought this was ridiculous and said so, but she insisted she got the information and said she could not go any further without it. I started to get nervous she had the wrong account. She said this was a new policy and she could do nothing about this and I need to supply her with all new information. I told her we were going to stop the process and I was going to probably going to just close my accounts because this wasn't making any sense. My wife talked me into going to the Norwich office and see if we could get some answers there. That was a mistake! At the Norwich office where we pretty much do most of our business, had the same problem but worse. There we went thru the same thing, they wanted to know our information, had to scan my drivers license again, and had me listed as retired from the 1996 employer. They then wanted my email address which they already have and send me emails, imagine!! then started asking my wife where she worked and wanted her employer from 1996! One big vicious circle! I asked to speak with a manager and this ignorant, arrogant individual came in and said I needed to supply all this information because its their policy and if I don't I can close my accounts and leave! I left alright and went home to change all of my electronic banking direct deposits and paying to another bank so I can close my accounts and work with another bank who puts there customer first and treats them nicely!! Maybe someday the Charter Oak Credit Union can go back to the way they were years ago. Hopefully they get new management who understands customer service!

A great little bank located in East Greenwich, RI…read more One location. No drive through windows. ATM outside. Full service inside. The staff is helpful and wonderful. They go out of their way to help you and know pretty much everyone by name. Great rates - in fact they pay more on their checking and cd's than other banks I have seen. They offer remote deposit which our company uses. No more going to the bank and depositing checks. We do it all from our office which saves us time and money.

By far the WORST banking expierence i've ever had... EVER…read more These crooks were charging me 7$ a month for a maitainence Fee on my checking account. Then what really fired me up was these criminals were charging me A $3.50 atm Fee if i used a different ATM ONTOP of the fee the other bank was charging SO i was essentially paying 6$ for an ATM FEE. And when i opened my account JOE WELLS FARGO manager assured me i was paying no unneccessary fees. This bank is a joke. I reccomend any other bank Then when i asked to bump my ATM daily limit from 300$ to 600$ they looked at me like i was a moron and told Me "sorry thats only For VIP customers". What a bunch of morons. Im glad i left THE customer service is THE WORST. Ive waited over 20 minites in there on several occasions. We went shopping this morning in South County and my husband's car battery died. We called AAA and…read morethe dispatcher said it was going to take 30-45 min for the mobile assistance to arrive. We were giving a link to track the progress of the arrival, but it kept giving some erroneous information. We called the dispatcher a few times and even though the lady was nice, she kept giving us information that did not agree with what the AAA guy knew and/or said upon arrival. There seemed to be a disconnect between the dispatcher and the person coming to help us. We also were given the contact information of the guy, but even though we tried to chat and phone call the number, it did not go through. When Don, the guy arrived, he said, nothing comes through via his cellphone... Anyway, he checked the battery and it was dead....so we ended up buying a new battery on the spot...about $200. Easy.

Third staff finished and would not acknowledge but called individuals across the room. Used to be a pleasure getting things done at this AAA, now it is no better than going to DMV.
