Ken Hall Plumbers - The bathroom was ugly before... But it's all fixed!!! No leaks!!! (Really hard to take photos for stuff like this)

The problem was fixed quickly, and I appreciate their assistance. It's also important to note that the phone coordination for the service was effective and helpful.

I don't derive pleasure out of talking smack, but my dealings with Ken Hall plumbing have led me to…read morethe conclusion that they are one of the most unreliable plumbing businesses around. I've got an intense story for you. My bathroom at home had been developing quite an offensive smell. Yes, even when it wasn't occupied. I decided it was time to call a professional in, and I had someone from Ken Hall come around to assess the problem. After numerous visits (I don't know why it took more than one), the plumber concluded that it was just a simple blockage that could be solved by using drain cleaner. My girlfriend and I proceeded to try flushing out the blockage with drain cleaner, with no resulting luck. One day sewage started seeping up from the shower drain, and we needed an immediate solution. Wanting a second opinion, we called Metropolitan Plumbing. On their first visit, they had found the problem. Someone had left a copper rod in the pipes after we had renovated the bathroom, which was causing a lot of the blockage. In addition, they found that our toilet wasn't fit to Australian standards, and told us we'd need a replacement. To flush out the blockage, they used a hydro pump, resulting in sewage coming out of the shower drain like a water fountain. It was - pardon my French - fucking disgusting. Not only did Ken Hall fail to resolve the problem on numerous occasions, but their inattentiveness and, dare I say laziness, cost us a fortune. After telling the story to others, they confirmed this with equally poor (yet less disgusting) experiences with the company. I'll remember to avoid these plumbers in the future.

Very easy job, although the Jims bloke did a lot of complaining about how hard it would be. All he had to do was drill 2 holes through brick (he did one hole from within the roof space) run three not very long cables all to the one wallplate which he supplied. Inclusive of the time taken to complain about everything, it took this bloke three hours to do the job. He charged me $990 (gave $50 discount) for the privilage of installing the 3 cables. At that time I had no idea what a cable guy charged, I am 74 a Totally and Permanently Incapacitated Ex-Servicemen and considered vulnerable, I found out later via several internet forums that I was ripped off by about $400.00. Complained to Jims head office, however, they stated it was none of their concern as they don't set prices? Jims were not too concerned their brand was being trashed by over charging. I did contact a Jims guy in SA who had some authority, he agreed the price was too high, however, he couldn't do anything about it! One JIms installer in NSW told me he charges $185 a cable (point), however, the average charge for most installer's is $150 a point., that Jims guy also agreed I was ripped off! My message to anyone reading this is to do your homework and get quotes from businesses other than Jims as if you get ripped off there is no comeback! Jims by their own admission to me are more expensive than most, so, don't be like me and get ripped off, get your local business to give you a quote and forget about Jim's.
