BEST clinic in St. Louis for cats. I recently moved here and struggled finding a good vet for my cats. I have 2 elderly cats and 3 younger cats so having a good clinic to take them to is very important to me. I've taken 3 of them so far and they have been the most help at looking into every possibility for one of my elders. My other cat had a minor emergency and they fit him in same day, treated him thoroughly and took great care of him. As long as I'm in St. Louis I'll stay with this clinic and I always recommend this place when asked about a good vet. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Nieberg for only about a year for my two senior cats. Over that time, one of them got sick and needed to be put to sleep. The whole crew there were more than professional - I felt like they really did care. I asked so many questions and everyone was happy to answer. I love Dr. Neiberg and his staff! They've taken care of Eve the entire time I've had her (almost 8 years now). She's my first cat, so I had a lot to learn, but they've always been patient with me. All of the staff are total pros at dealing with/handling cats and their whole clinic is designed for cats. And it's clear when you meet with him that Dr. Neiberg really knows his stuff when it comes to cats. My only, very minor, complaint is that the parking can be a struggle. read more

This morning, my Zoe was very nauseated and lethargic, but her regular vet couldn't see her today -- or for the next week. I was enormously grateful that City Cat Clinic told me to bring her in immediately. Within an hour, we met Dr. Niebur, who proved to be extremely knowledgeable, thorough and caring. I was particularly impressed that he told me about my options, but also informed me about the cost. Furthermore, he was completely honest about whether or not a further diagnostic procedure was needed --- quite a contrast to my experience with former vets! As a result, I could keep my cost down while being comfortable that I wasn't potentially harming my baby by neglect. I have nothing but good things to say about City Cat Clinic. I have two kitties, and my first visit to see Dr. Nieberg was due to a concern about one of my cats being a little to lethargic. I brought him in and both Dr. Nieberg and the staff were very kind and understanding, and ultimately he ended up being fine. I was so happy with the way they treated myself and my cat that I brought my other cat in, as well. I took both my kitties there until I moved out of STL. I wish I could give a review - but I didn't even get past an initial phone call. I stated the problem (a Maine Coon cat with a huge mat) and was put on hold. I waited for almost 10 mins. after which I hung up and tried calling back a few times. Each time my call was terminated without having spoken to anyone, leaving the possibility of a VM or being told I would be connected soon. If anyone reads this review today, August 19 2021, I would appreciate a call back. Whenever I am looking to really make my cat angry I just take her to the vet for her regular check up. As soon as I take out her little pet taxi she knows she is getting ready to go to the vet where she will be poked and prodded. That is why she complains the entire trip there. Where do I take her? Why the Cat Clinic. At the Cat Clinic they specialize in cats, hence the name. Because they specialize in cats I know that they have a real love for them and would be quicker to recognize and know how to treat a cat quicker because they see them so often. It is nice to see the way they handle my feline friend too. They are nice and careful and they of course do not let her fighting fury get the better of them. The Cat Clinic also sells specialized food for cats that are on a more restricted diet for whatever reasons. My cat enjoys her food that I get from the Cat Clinic and never complains about it unless she feels that her serving size is not to her likening. If you have a cat or if you have any questions about cats, the Cat Clinic is a great place to take your cat for you cat needs. read more

I have one cat who does not like going to the vet. She was particularly bad when I visited the City Cat Clinic, but the vet assistant handled her very well. I will go back to this vet because: 1. They asked a lot of questions to be sure they were giving my cat the right vaccinations. 2. They were attentive to me and my cat. 3. They love cats. 4. I have five cats, so I see the vet regularly! I've been to a few St Louis vets, but settled on the Cat Clinic. The first great feature is that they only see cats, so there are no dogs running around and barking at your cat in the waiting room. Secondly, Scott (the owner) is incredibly knowledgeable and willing to take the time to discuss what is best for your cat. He doesn't just tell you what to do, but explains your options. I love this place. They are always able to squeeze me in at the last minute when I am frantic on the phone because my kitty is acting sick! Even on Saturdays! As stated in other reviews, I love that they only see cats. This makes for no awkward encounters with dogs in the waiting room. They have a few cats that live and hang out at the center, and I love seeing them when we come in. The staff is always super helpful and friendly, and pay attention to me as well as my kitty. I have a rambunctious Tortoise Shell who doesn't always act on her best behavior. The first time we took her to see the doctor, she gave him quite the scratch up the arm. It was bleeding and everything!! It was so embarrassing. He was totally cool about it, and started telling me why Tortoise shell cats act the way they do, and he even gave me some tips to help with her crazy behavior. They got out the big leather gloves, and were so sweet to her, even though she wanted to claw their brains out. Once they have examined her, they are happy to let the kitty roam around the room as they would like, which causes much less stress (at least for my kitty). Other vets I have been to over the years always try to get you to buy food/meds/etc. from their office at a much higher price, but he really does try to be honest with his clients and give them as much information about prices, and places to buy the items for their specific needs. I have never felt like he has done anything over the top, or any unnecessary tests, and I am always pleasantly surprised with the bill at the end of the visit. read more

They like cats, and handled mine well. My angry ginger kitty slashed the vet hard enough to draw blood, but the vet just shook it off and continued the examination. And didn't sue me afterwards. Mad props. Also, this is the vet that figured out one of my cats had a congenital birth defect that would need surgical correction. He referred us to a surgery specialist; I was pretty happy with the results. A kitty that in natural circumstances would not have lived a year is now three years old. read more

When I took my kitten here it was because I expressed that I had a concern about his breathing when he was purring. The vet invalidated my concerns, and talked to me about my kitten as if I were incompetent. Definitely not worth the 50 dollar office visit. They just told me things that were common sense.. read more

I'm so impressed with this clinic! The staff is small and very friendly! Obviously they love cats, hence the name. I was super nervous to bring my two cats. One is VERY skittish, the other is usually okay. The doctor was friendly and answered all of my questions with ease. They do "combo" shots for cats, which I had never heard of, but it is a god send. One shot and they were done for the year! I highly recommend them, especially for cats that usually have a hard time at the vet. read more

My 11 year old cat is dealing with bladder issues again and I needed to get him in as soon as I could. We were going to go to the Cat Clinic off of Hampton because we had before and it's close. They were booked and the other cat places were rated rather poorly. We searched and found this Cat clinic and had a time slot that was a crunch but got my cat in that day. I was so pleased with Dr. Scott's demeanor with me. Mickey had time to peruse and relax before he was handled and it became the best vet experience I've had. I like that it was just a cat clinic and how the environment keep my cat at ease in a usually very stressful situation. First review I've made and deserves the highest praise. read more

I've been going to this vet since I moved to the city eight years ago. They are amazing! Dr. Nieberg is so caring about the cats, and the rest of the staff are very sweet and helpful. I had an aging Persian cat, who started throwing up a lot and Dr. Nieberg diagnosed with a severe kidney failure and gave him only a few days to live. This was on a Friday, and we scheduled to have him be put down to minimize his suffering that following Monday. He gave me other options to try to keep him alive longer, but was very honest that it would not be helpful to the kitty and he'd be more at peace if we just put him down. Naturally, I was devastated, and Dr. Nieberg gave me his personal cell phone number to contact him for any reason over the weekend. Fast forward seven years, and my ten year old cat was throwing up and loosing weight. Dr. Nieberg suggested a few things that it may be. He thought the most likely diagnosis was inflamed intestines. The test for that is very expensive. Instead of insisting I pay for the test, he gave me the medicine for it to try. He said that it wouldn't hurt her if i wasn't her intestines, but if it was it would help the problem. I gave them to her, and it ended up working really well. I really appreciated his honesty, instead of trying to get a bunch of money for the test. All in all, this place is great. I highly recommend that any cat parents out there take their cats to this vet. You won't regret it. read more

Scott, Chris and their staff care about cats. When I moved to St Louis, I tried a few vets, but most felt impersonal - like Wal-mart for pet care. None can compare to the service and expertise at the City Cat Clinic. I have one cat that has stomach issues and we recently adopted another cat from Animal House. Prior vets have not impressed us and so when Animal House told us that they used City Cat Clinic, we thought - why not? After all, they are a cat only clinic, so they'd be more likely to understand our issues. The first visit was awesome and the follow up did not disappoint. They got a full history and Dr. Nieberg wasn't afraid to ask questions in order to understand the full scope of our issues. He also told me that my older cat was even older than I thought (she's now firmly in the geriatric category...) and that her breed is prone to stomach issues (no previous vets had identified either issue.) We've started a new treatment for her and he has been completely open to any questions or concerns that I have. And our youngest cat (2 yo) was treated without any issues. They also have a Keurig that they offer you a choice of cappuccino, coffee, tea, etc on cold days/mornings. Not necessary for most days, but after several days of snow & below freezing temps, was a nice way to start the morning at the vet. :) read more

Dr. Scott Nieberg is an absolutely fantastic vet. Our beloved furry family member was diagnosed with IBD by Dr. Nieberg four years ago. The road was rocky, requiring specialty food, daily medications and supplements, ER visits and additional medications during times of stress. Dr. Nieberg was seemingly "on-call" for our family through all of it. The amount of time he would take to talk me through incredibly stressful times, provide knowledge, insight and support are something I'm forever grateful for. Calvin had a fantastic 4 years post diagnosis thanks to the plan of care that Dr. Nieberg provided. Inevitably Calvin's disease progressed and formed a large intestinal mass. Just shy of his 16th birthday, our sweet boy was put to rest with peace in our hearts knowing he received the utmost care possible thanks to Dr. Nieberg, Chris, and staff at City Cat Clinic. read more

This place is wonderful! It was my first time taking my cat, Boris, to the vet and I didn't know what to expect. I walked in and this place was very cute and homey. The staff was extremely friendly! The doctor was very knowledgeable and great with my cat. They also gave me very good tips. I like that they only see cats. It makes this place very special! It was not too expensive either. I will definitely keep coming back here for Boris as well as my other cat. I was so happy to find a place like this! read more

I am a first time cat owner and had not been to the vet since I adopted him almost a year ago. The staff was very kind and gentle, and Dr. Nieberg was very knowledgable. The fact that it is a cat only clinic makes me more comfortable as well. They were able to get him his boosters and give him a nail trimming. They even went so far as to getting me his microchip information so that I could register it to my name! I will be coming back and recommending! read more

i just moved back to the area and wanted to get my 2 extra-fluffy kitties enrolled in a shed-reducing treatment at a local kennel, but first, the kitties needed updated vaccinations. the City Cat Clinic caught my eye driving down Forest Park Parkway because it was easy to get to and - only deals with cats?!! wonderful! the staff were attentive, patient, and inquisitive. even though my boy was embarrassing on his baddest behavior, they just brought out a towel and the leather gauntlets and handled him like a tag team of professional wrestlers (although he never did loosen up enough to get his temp taken...). they advised me against the shed-ex treatment - which they've heard is ineffective and a money drain - gave me some better at-home alternatives, sweet talked the little monster, and even told me he wasn't that bad... i beg to differ... took the boy back just yesterday for a nasty impacted anal glands situation and they handled that one quickly and deftly, as well, with many phone calls to update me on his progress. excellent, attentive service from one of the nicest offices i have visited.
