We visited this past Sunday while in Chicago for the weekend - and loved it! Very welcoming and friendly. They helped us find seats right away even though we showed up a few minutes after service had started. The message and worship was powerful. I would highly recommend swinging by even if you are only in town for the weekend!

I had the most amazing & blessed time tonight. The church was having a guest speaker tonight. Sarah Jakes Roberts the daughter of Bishop T.D Jakes. The event was free for everyone. Now where do you go to hear a celebrity guest speaker for free. The staff team was very friendly and professional. Its a must that I go back to visit one of their Regular Sunday Sevices. I just Love the whole dynamic of this church. I love the different diversity and culture. It has every age group gender color etc walking inside this church. The worship was flowing throughout this church tonight. I see amazing things happening. United We Stand As One.

This church knows what it's about- MONEY! These CoLLections Kiosks are the first thing to greet you at City Church.

This church makes what they're about known from the moment you walk in the door- MONEY! The first thing you see is a line of collections kiosks, soon after you'll be handed a postcard with other options for giving, followed by a name-it-and-claim-it prosperity gospel garbage sermon where the pastor invites you to give as much as you can and then pray for more so you can give more. Kayleen gives a much more thorough and experienced review. Please do not get drawn into the friendly community, fantastic worship band and charismatic preacher. This place is teaching a false gospel!

What drew me to this church was they are connected to the Hillsong Church. I was in town visiting so I picked this church to visit. Took bus 65. I arrived 10 mins early. Noticed immediately that people were hanging out in the corridor so since I don't know anyone, I went straight to the auditorium. There was barely anyone there besides the stage crew. These are my other observations: - They have a row for first-time visitors - Very diverse crowd - Interesting worship team setup - Different music style from the church I attend - Quick prayer with Anointing oil up front - Meet someone new within a 3-minute timespan - Skittles were passed out - Great Sermon by the pastor - Small auditorium - Amazing video testimony (by drummer I think) - Clean bathrooms - Free water - Free coffee and free tea - Met 3 individuals who are/were Catholic

A much liked visiting Pastor (Robert Madu)

I tried to get involved in this church, for a year, I really did. I tried to volunteer and I guess I didn't fit in. Too bad I tried.

I love how even though Pastor Kent & Alli have a contemporary style, they do not compromise the content of God's Word in their message.

Urban Village Church: Wicker Park has become my home in Chicago!…read more My husband and I were originally drawn to UVC: Wicker Park because of its strong commitment to Biblical integrity while also being resolutely affirming of all people in the LGBTQ community. What we discovered was so much more. UVC goes by the motto of being 'BOLD' (boldly rooted in the Gospel message of Jesus Christ), 'INCLUSIVE' (radically affirming of LGBTQ folks, striving to be an anti-racist church, and working toward all other areas of inclusivity and diversity equity), and 'RELEVANT' (living into our faith all week long, not just on Sundays). This motto is beautiful and helps my husband and I live into the lives we want to be. In fact, it was this very community that married us and has been with us through thick and thin. Pastor Hannah is an absolute gem, bringing engaging/powerful messages that are relevant to our current context in Chicago/USA/world! Are you looking for a place that is spiritually rich and community driven? Then bring yourself over to UVC! We would love to have you join us!

They truly do celebrate people of all backgrounds (i.e. they don't just give the LGBTQIA community a "seat on the pew", but actual voices and leadership roles). The people here are caring, honest, and supportive of each other, wherever you are on your life journey - even if you have doubts, trauma and uncertainty. Truly all are welcome here. UVC lives their mission of being bold, inclusive, and relevant by doing work in the local communities, and providing interactive ways to learn and give back during Black History Month, Pride Month, etc. with history walks and celebrations and hearing stories from the community lifted up. I've especially loved Pastor D'Angelo's creativity when it comes to services and community-building at Wicker Park; we've had breakout discussion groups during the service, creative use of the stage setup and props, we've heard testimonies, and listened to music together, and even ended the sermon early for a surprise coffee hour when Pastor D said "You know what? I can preach about community, or we can go do it right now," recognizing that coming out of the pandemic many of us don't know each other and haven't had real conversations together. Those conversations and laughter were much needed.

If I miss a Sunday, I feel like something is missing, like I haven't been home in a while. When I was going through intense grief, the church was the body of Christ that came around me, prayed for me, took care of me and supported me in every way a church in the Bible was meant to be like. I am forever grateful they got me through that traumatic time. During a time of confusion within the church, the elders took time to meet people, answer questions, was transparent and vulnerable. It helped me build trust with them and brought me closer to God in those times. Their service involve worship, and sermons that are based on reading chapters from scripture. We go through books of the Bible. Right now we are reading the book of Luke and it will take us two years to complete it. The pastors and elders are so friendly, and are available to you. They try to meet everyone, but it's also welcomed for you to introduce yourself to them. There are many deacons at the end of service who are available to take prayer requests and will pray for you on the spot. There are also many resources available for new believers and many different ministries: Alpha, Loop Kids Ministries, small groups, Global Ministries, discipleship classes, Three Twelve: ministry for people in their 20's and 30's, retreats, evangelizing, and so much more. Every church is not perfect and will have their flaws. It's okay to go church hopping for a while, but this church is worth checking out, and if you have any questions, go to guest services or go up to a church leader. You are welcome here! :)

I used to despise goody-goody Christians and wanted to stay as far away as possible. I wanted nothing to do with Churches because I thought they were evil and hypocritical. What I did not realize is that my heart was not open and I was the hypocrite. I was ignorant and did not know that a Christian should not judge or hate its neighbor. I did not read the Bible for myself in order to understand it myself, but figured what I got from church the 1x per yr I attended was good enough. That I did my part. Wrong! I never understood why my life was so empty and why I never felt satisfied. All the money, and all the designer clothes, and all the fancy dinners, trips, etc., felt good for that second, but when I got back to reality, my life was cold, empty, without purpose, and lonely. No matter what I had or how much I had, I wanted more and more because I thought that would make me happy. I was never happy. I was dragging my sins behind me and felt like I wanted to give up on life. It's been a while since I stepped foot into a church and it's not until 3 weeks ago that I became hungry for the word of God. I knew that I wanted and needed more. In order to receive all the blessings of what God is trying to tell us, we must open our hearts and accept him, otherwise what is the point? I decided to attend Moody Church one Sunday morning and I have to say that I was blown away. The message was strong, honest, and to the point. I felt as if the message was directed specifically for me. God, was speaking directly to me and told me to open my eyes because it was time. My perception completely changed the minute I open the Bible and started reading The New Testament. "Matthew" Everyone is welcomed here and no one will feel out of place. Parking is a little tricky, so if you do not arrive early, you will have to search around a bit. May God bless Pastor Erwin Lutzer and his family, in the name of our Lord Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Oh the people and staff were warm and friendly but the preaching never said a word about hell. There is the name of some man on virtually every door that they iconolize for something or other. The preaching is geared to people are so worthy that's why God saved them. Another weird thing they believe Jesus took our place on the cross as a substitute for our sins. They are sly but they are followers of D.L. Moody a revivalist so they didn't encourage witnessing. Moody taught God's hand doesn't move because the Christians aren't sorry enough and aren't confessing their sins earnestly and often enough, with strong crying and shaking but when they do get real sorry for their sins revival will come and a lot of people will get saved. According to the New Covenant of Jesus Christ there isn't any condemnation to the people of God. We know the devil is the accuser of the brethren. This is essentially a cult cloaked as a church deceiving many. I pray they will repent and turn to the truth of the gospel. It's no secret read Moody's teachings on revival for yourself it's all online but hidden on their website. We can understand why they want to hide it.
