This City Farmers Market in Duluth is an absolute cluster __, particularly on a Saturday afternoon and if you're used to shopping at the one on Buford Highway. Although it has the nice selection that you come to expect from the chain, there were people just everywhere to the point where it was very chaotic to maneuver and find items. We basically just spent the requisite amount of time to pick up what we came for and got out as fast as possible. I'm sure it's not this bad all hours of the day but I think I will stick to the one that is closer to where I live, and save my sanity. read more

There are a lot of Asian food choices at this store as well as fantastic produce! We are definitely going to work this market into our regular rotation. The prices are in line with regular grocery stores for the most part. The produce selection is amazing. I was able to try some varieties of pears I have never had which was neat. They also had a great selection of potatoes! Everything looked pretty fresh and stocked. They also put out some samples but I did not try any of those. The food court has some decent options as well. What a surprise! I was staying in a hotel in town and popped over to get a banh mi in the same shopping center. Based on the name, I was not expecting a gigantic Asian supermarket but this place was amazing. If I lived nearby, I'd be here all the time. For it to be on a Saturday it wasn't too packed I assume due to the multiple locations they now have. It can definitely get crowded and many people do not want to be polite. A lot of fresh fruit and some vegetables were just out. The seafood area is for the strongest. The stinch is strong but they offer everything from fish heads available for soups shell fish fresh and frozen from all over. A lot of boxes in the way and a large Hispanic food area and African spices and island goods. Prices vary from what you need and want. City Farmer's Market is pretty central to Duluth, a little off the main path. I came by here to go to the food court. While they have a lot of selections, the actual place is much to be desired. The bathrooms were filthy and the floors of the food court are not clean. Most of the tables were dirty. I ordered from Nest Here by Thai Thanh Yen. I got a milk tea and it was good. As a fan of City Farmers Markets, this location was no exception. They have fresh produce for phenomenal prices. Being in Duluth, this location has an even most vast selection of Asian pantry and produce items to look through. It is one of their larger locations and lots of aisles to get customers in and out. A vast variety of produce and meats at competitive prices. Not only do they carry Asian foods and goods, they also carry middle eastern, South American, Caribbean, and European foods and goods. Halal meats as well from what I've seen. After spending a couple hundred on a cart full of groceries don't forget to stop by their foodcourt for some international fare. In honor of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in May, my fiancé and I had ordered take out in Duluth to celebrate. While waiting for my order at Kuya's, located in this shopping center (formerly Assi Plaza), I decided to look around. I noticed a lot of the other restaurants in the food court (almost all) were closed. Not sure if that was just due to the pandemic or if they've been closed for quite some time. In any case, I quickly made my way to the area with kitchen supplies, as I remembered I needed some good soup/ramen bowls. They have a pretty wide selection of cooking supplies at a reasonable price. I got myself two new bowls and continued to look around. I didn't know until today that this is a sister store to the Hong Kong Supermarket in Norcross. Admittedly, I still like the H Mart chain better so far, in terms of the food court, selection of items, and cleanliness, but this store was pretty decently stocked and leaps and bounds cleaner than Hong Kong Supermarket when I went. Granted, some of that may be due to the extra sanitation measures in place for COVID-19, but either way I was glad to not have any stomach churning smell experiences while walking through the store. On the way out, I snagged some katsu and oyster sauce, since we're cooking at home more than ever. My fiance and I are both homesick to some extent and miss all the easy access we had to our favorite Asian-Hawaiian dishes. Living in Gwinnett County has definitely made the transition easier though, knowing there have been a lot of good Asian supermarkets and restaurants nearby to get a taste of home. For an after dinner treat, I decided to try some Vietnamese sweet rice cakes. They had an interesting aroma and taste from the leaves infused in them. They reminded me of a bigger, chewier version of Filipino puto, but I think I like the taste and texture of puto better. Overall, it was a pretty solid experience. I got home & took 1 bite - STALE!!!!! I looked at the expiration date.... PACKED 4/19/19 & SELL BY 10/16/19?!? What the heck?!? City Farmers Market, a local Vietnamese-owned Asian and Hispanic grocery store chain, has been expanding in metro Atlanta. Currently, this location in Duluth and another one in Snellville are the company's two newest locations. There are now six total stores in the Atlanta area. They are numbered as follows: 1. Chamblee 2. Atlanta 3. Snellville 4. Norcross 5. Marietta 6. Duluth I'm not sure how the stores were numbered, but it's not chronologically. The Norcross location, known as Hong Kong Supermarket (https://www.yelp.com/biz/hong-kong-supermarket-norcross-2), is the original. It was formerly located on Buford Highway before it moved to its current location in Norcross. Since that time, City Farmers Market has "returned" to the original BuHi location as store #2. This location in Duluth replaced the old Assi Plaza on Pleasant Hill Road near I-85 (https://www.yelp.com/biz/assi-plaza-duluth). I was told by a City Farmers Market employee, who used to work at Assi, that Assi closed on July 15, 2018 and City Farmers Market opened the following day: July 16, 2018. A quick turnaround. It's sad - the supermarket seems like a shell of its former self. While this is one of the newest locations of City Farmers Market, it certainly doesn't look like it. That's because it inherited an old space unlike store #1 in Chamblee (https://www.yelp.com/biz/city-farmers-market-chamblee) which was newly constructed about three years ago. I like the Chamblee location; this one, not so much. This store, and the sizable shopping plaza it's contained in, have gone downhill. It's not as nice, clean, and in good condition as it used to be. When we visited this past weekend, trash was strewn about the plaza's parking lot and sidewalks. The shopping carts, which were a mixture of old Assi carts and used City Farmers Market carts, were beat up and in average shape at best. Inside, the market had a vast array of smells, some of which were simply putrid. An example of this was in the rice section, one of the last places you'd expect to smell bad. I have no idea what made that section smell awful. I know it's not uncommon for Asian markets to have funky smells, but this one had smells that were particularly off-putting. Unfortunately, I can see why Assi left. The only Assi Plaza that remains in the area is in Suwanee (https://www.yelp.com/biz/assi-plaza-suwanee); it's still decent. Along with the old Assi shopping carts, many remnants of the old Assi remain inside this store. Examples include aisle signage with the Assi logo, food picture banners that hang from the ceiling in the produce section with the Assi logo, and restaurants and vendors that were open in the old Assi. Some of the restaurants have transitioned over to City Farmers Market like Kuya's Food Express, the food court's popular Filipino restaurant. Others have closed such as Mozart Bakery, yet Mozart's storefront signage remains. Generally, it appears somewhat like a hodgepodge of open and closed vendors. Speaking of aisle signage, some of the aisles were incorrectly labeled. A good (bad?) example was aisle 10 for which the sign lists "Rice." There was no rice to be found. Instead, we found the rice in an unmarked corner of the store. They carried my favorite brand of jasmine rice, Three Ladies Brand. I picked up a couple five-pound bags for $6.29 each. (I remember they used to be $5 each several years ago.) The produce section had a variety of leafy greens, bagged for easy grab-and-go like Great Wall Supermarket down the street (https://www.yelp.com/biz/great-wall-supermarket-duluth). My fiancee picked up a bag of snow pea tips ($5.99 per pound) and checked them. They were slightly yellow and smelled repulsive. They even made her fingers smell horrible. She wanted to wash her hands immediately, but unlike Buford Highway Farmers Market (https://www.yelp.com/biz/buford-highway-farmers-market-doraville), there was no sink in the produce section to wash her hands. Sadly, this City Farmers Market reminds me of the H Mart in Riverdale (https://www.yelp.com/biz/hmart-riverdale). It's like the redheaded stepchild of the City Farmers Market family. Unlike the metro Atlanta H Marts, I haven't been to all of the City Farmers Market locations, but that's just the feeling I get. This store is dirty and seems to have lower quality produce and merchandise compared to the competition like H Mart (https://www.yelp.com/biz/hmart-duluth), Assi, Great Wall, Mega Mart (https://www.yelp.com/biz/mega-mart-duluth), Jusgo Supermarket (https://www.yelp.com/biz/jusgo-supermarket-duluth-6), Buford Highway Farmers Market, etc. All that said, our experience at this store wasn't completely negative. We still picked up a handful of groceries (mangoes, Kadoya-brand sesame oil, fresh garlic, Thai basil, bananas). No more Assi. Now, City Farmers Market in Duluth!! Lately, City Farmers Market is popping up all over metro Atlanta. No kidding. The first location was in Chamblee taking over the old flea market from back in the days. Next, a location in Snellville, Marietta, and now Duluth! Many may not know but City Farmers Market is a sister store to Hong Supermarket, which is one of my to-go place for Asian ingredients. I mainly knew about the Duluth location due to the fact that the Mid Autumn Festival aka Half Moon Festival was at City Farmers Market, former Assi, this year. In the past few years, it was always at Hong Kong Supermarket. Due to the fact that, the parking area and how busy it is at Hong Kong Supermarket is with the new addition to Chipotle and Starbucks. The festival was moved to City Farmers Market this year. I've been volunteering, helping out CAAG (Cambodian Asian American of Georgia) as a vendor. On top of that, if you come to former Assi plaza, you will see future booming Vietnamese restaurants there. One of them is Pho Saigon. Nothing really changed yet at City Farmers Market. Walking in, it's still Assi. The set up is the same. No more Mozart Bakery to your left. All produce is in same area, the sea creatures are at the end on the right. The signs for the aisle are still in Korean and English. I believe they will be replacing them soon. For those who may not know. City Farmers Market and Hong Kong Supermarket is Vietnamese. Pleasant Hill has HMart (Korean), Zion Market (Korean), Mega Mart (Korean), Great Wall (Chinese), Jusgo (Chinese), Super Mercado Jalisco (Mexican), Nam Dae Mun (Korean own but a mixture of Caribbean, European, and Latino). So adding City Farmers Market is a good addition. Duluth is so diverse! Food court has been dead for a while. I wonder which food vendor will stay. I couldn't tell when I was there. For me personally, I like City Farmers Market but Hong Kong Supermarket a tad bit more, maybe cause it's closer to me and I'm familiar with it. I'm from Brooklyn, New York where fresh fish and produce is sold everywhere and not too expensive. Shopping at Kroger and Publix takes a toll on the wallets while living out here in Georgia. Thank goodness for this place! so unorganized!! When this store first open it use to be Walmart...I know cause i work at Burger King when i was 16, back in the 90"s. Now it change to Assi it was great to have a Asian market close to home. Assi was great...!! but now new Owner new change..the place is call City farmer market, they didn't do much renovation just change the layout. I have to walk to every single aisle to find what I need. This place just look dirty and they blast POP music so loud!! I feel like I'm in the club...not the kind of music for a grocery store, mall or department store maybe. The bakery section is call saigon tofu and sandwich. I waited and hour for my bahn Mi sandwiches...lady at the register gave my sandwiches to someone else that came after me, I was upset cause I waited so long and i was the first one there. I order a drink too. told her i wanted my money back she was okay I make it now and just wait, since i already paid i guess i wait...25 minute my sandwiches was ready...my gosh!! she said. she will make my drink now..didn't paid for it yet, so I assume since i waited for over and hour she would just give this to me on the house.. if she did i would forget about the wait time. but she rung up the drink 5.10$ I'm like forget it. I like shopping there now more then when it was Assi. Assi has started really great but then something went wrong and it got really bad. They lost lots of customers because of their refusal to adhere to our government standards and laws. This place is clean and very good price compared to many other places. I find it is very organized and you find way more English speaking help here. That is very important for me. Only thing I can make a negative comment is that some items have no price tags. You unfortunately have take it to the register and get a price check. Now if you are like me then you forget and buy it anyways. I highly recommend this place for fresh fish. I usually go to HongKong Market for shopping. But since this market changed the owner, and my house is also near by this market, then, I decided to shop here. They have a very large parking lot and also, there are a lot of restaurants and other stores in this plaza, which is very convenience. It's very inpressive at the the first time I stopped by. So far, this market is a kind of international one. They have all kinds of foods and stuffs, Hispanic, Asian, American and Africa. Their produce section looks fresh. Price is reasonable compared to other markets. If you guys have chance, you should stop by their bakery and try their Vietnamese sandwiches. Their special and bbq pork sandwiches are delicious. Sometimes, the bakery ladies are busy, then, it takes time for them to make the sandwiches. I'm ok with that. It's worth to wait. One more thing is that it's Mid Autumn season, time for mooncakes. They sell many kinds of mooncakes over there. You should try it. I'm not sure about other bad reviews about this market. But it is not what I have experienced here. Their produce is no good. It rots in 3 days. I paid 2.50 each for avocadoes that were green and they all got rottten in 3 days. I went back to the store and the manager was very rude and told me thats my problem they do not guarantee anything. I also bough mandarins that rotted in 2 days. I will not buy thier produce. Their grapes also rots in 1 day. Why would they not stand by their produce? He was very nasty. I will try to never go back their. Everyone should boycott that store because of the manager. read more

The owners changed and you would think things would be better. Not the case here. Sure they've managed to reorganize the layout however the prices on all vegetables and fruits have increased. Mangos are double the price compared to Super H Mart, and Mega Mart. My family walked in for our weekly grocery shopping and we're in shock. Mind you, we shop at all the local grocery stores for the best prices and quality. Usually this location is bustling with people, especially on the weekends. Management needs to reassess their business plan and strategy. You're losing your normal consumers. Word of mouth travels fast especially amongst the Asian and Hispanic communities. I recommend visiting Super H Mart, Mega Mart, Assi (Old Peachtree Location). Zion was ok when they first opened but they've increased prices and quality has been lacking. Update: 1/12/19 They lowered their prices, more organized, and started raffle tickets for prizes. Therefore, I am increasing my stars from 1 to 4. read more

There are two ways their cashier can charged you extra without you knowing it. Number 1 way is scan your item 2 times and the number 2 way is by adding extra item on their screen (which you cannot see). Always count your item then check your receipt how many item they charge you. This is a very common practice for many Asian Supermarket in Duluth. read more

Every single time I come in here employees are rude and will not help locate something. Cashiers don't even acknowledge your there only to take your money. But they will sit and carry on a conversation with their co workers in their language. I came in today to get some groceries and picked an item and looked at the price before I went to the register. When I got to the register when she was ringing me up it raining up as double the price that it said on the sticker when I picked it up. So I called over for help and we walked over there to check and sure enough exactly where the item was right above it was the sticker with the name on it and a different price. So he called for his manager to come over and change it and when the manager came over he said he wouldn't do it and that if I didn't want the item I could just leave. Our new go to grocery market. They have all the ingredients, fruits and vegetables. Meat selection is pretty good, fish looks fresh. Prices are good for most of the items we buy weekly. Great Asian market in the area. Much better and more selection than Great Wall and Hmart. Although I am closer to Hmart, I will drive the extra distance to City Farmers Market. Hmart usually doesn't have the products I need. The only thing I buy from Hmart is the rice. They have good rice selection and best prices compared to the other markets. read more
