Overall This market wasn't what we expected based on the name. "Namdaemun" immediately made us think of the famous open market area in Korea and we assumed the store would be Korean focused. In reality, the selection and overall vibe leaned overwhelmingly Hispanic and Latin American, with very few Korean items. Name vs Reality The name feels misleading. We came in expecting a Korean grocery market concept, but most of the products (including the bakery) were predominantly Hispanic. The shopper base also didn't feel very Korean, so it didn't come across as a Korean market experience. Selection If you are looking for Hispanic, Latin American, South American, or Central American groceries and produce, this place may actually be a solid option. It just doesn't match what the "Namdaemun" name implies. Atmosphere and Cleanliness The atmosphere felt more like a discount store than a bright, modern market. The store felt more cramped and less clean, open, and bright compared to places like H Mart or Mega Mart. Visually, it also leaned more flashy and cluttered rather than clean and curated. Who I would recommend it for I'd recommend this market for shoppers specifically seeking Hispanic or Latin American grocery items and produce. If you're coming in expecting a Korean market experience because of the name, you may be disappointed like we were. Would we return? Probably not for what we were originally looking for, but I can see it being useful for people shopping for Latin American ingredients and products. read more

NDM broke the kimbap stock market at $1.99 !!! There are 8 locations of this market in the Metro Atlanta area, yet this Duluth location is the ONLY one that has an amazing cafeteria hidden in the back. Since this is the flagship HQ location, the cafeteria serves as an affordable canteen option to the corporate employees. But, we are lucky that they are also open to the public for some of the best quality, lowest priced homestyle Korean food in the state. Had to return entire purchase because food was spoiled! Crab and goat smelled awful when opened, so I returned all items I bought there. When trying to get money back, the "supervisor" refused to help me, until I pulled out the phone and began recording the ENTIRE conversation from that moment on (pic below). I did get my money because I had my original receipt! When asked his name, he refused to give it to me wondering why I would need it. I told him so when I called corporate about his lackluster customer service, they'd have the name name of the person I had encountered. I then asked several checkout clerks, who all seemed not to know who they worked under or who he was. When I did call corporate, I was put on hold forever and just hung up. I did call another branch of this company, and got the name of the guy from the supervisor of that (her) store. She had absolutely no problem giving it to me, along with hers as well. I will say this is one of the better Farmers Markets in the Atlanta area. My favorite is Dekalb Farmers Market but this Nam Dae Mun location is my 2nd. They have a wide variety of Produce (Numerous Basils, Sugar Cane, Melons, Etc.) and offer a better selection of Spices than Buford Highway Farmers Market. They also have a pretty good Seafood selection with Snow Crab, King Crab, Fresh Fish and other items. I Find the meat selection not bad either. It's not as Fresh as say Publix or Kroger but it certainly isn't bad. For guys into Fitness and the Gym I would consider coming here for some of your meats! They also have a nice selection of Caribbean items and African items as well selling Gongu Peas, Corn Meals, Bun, Sea Moss, Curry and many other items. I also find this Nam Dae Mun to be managed well. Every time I visit it's very clean and seems a bit more modern then competitor stores with shelving and refrigeration. If you visit many of the farmers markets you'll be able to tell a significant difference here. read more

If I could give a negative review, I would. Pedro REFUSED to give me a refund for an item I was double charged for. I showed him my receipt showing I only bought one item and also showed him my bank info where I was charged two times and he still refused to refund me my money. I believe they do this to cover a shortage or they pocketing the money. I know I can't be the only person they've done this to. I WILL NOT PATRONIZE THIS COMPANY AGAIN. When I requested to speak with a manager, she informed me that the manager was not available that day. I reached out to the corporate office. Nobody answered, and the call went to voice mail. I LOVE this store! I used to come here to the restaurant at least 3 times a week for years. I use in town over the last couple of weeks and ate there 3 times. The Korean dishes are always made to order with fresh ingredients, and tasty side dishes. While I was there I would shop the produce, always fresh and plenty of usual choices as well as the standard grocery store. The staff are always friendly, and restocking the large store. There are usually vendors selling new n tasty products, the store is always clean, cool and inviting. I definitely recommend, if you're in the area, stop by and check it out yourself, K21, kimbop and meat pies are my favorites. read more

We didn't buy much groceries since we were really there to eat lunch at the food court. My parents had been once or twice before. The food court has both Chinese and Korean dishes for a very affordable price. Tons of workers and also Korean, Chinese, and Mexican families were enjoying lunch. They also offered hot tea. The portions were sizable and each item usually includes rice, soup, and sides. We could have ordered three items and still be very full. We spent $33 for 4 dishes (stone bowl bibimbop, fried pork cutlet, spicy beef noodle soup, and bulgogi) and a roll of kimbop. I liked the bulgogi the most and would definitely want to try other dishes the next time I'm in town. read more

I went to shopping at this market location today and I was accident broke a soy sauce bottle by the cashier number seven and I feel such a horrible because usually I never break anything but the gentleman was super nice and sweet. He bought me a new cart and he told me don't worry about everything is OK but when the lady came to clean and the cashier started to talk and conversation that I heard is unbelievable and unexpected. They call me Putah in Spanish and first. I'm not sure what was that mean but I don't get a good feeling for that until I found out later that they call me a whore. I still keep myself calm, went to the lady and told her on the way out what happened. I was with my husband. I am here just like everybody else. I don't know because I'm Asian that it makes her think that she can treat me that way, but I would not come back in that market ever. H market is much better. If anything that they don't have nice things to say about people, I recommend they should keep it with themselves. I don't know if she have her own problem and I have to say only her can take on her responsibility and I asking the management. Please take an action on her behavior. read more

We occasionally shop here but I am here to tell you about their food court!! This place is quite busy especially around lunchtime! That's because everything is so good! I love this place, from the lady at the cash register to the food! The Chinese menu is no longer available (where can I get my jajang noodles, that's okay). They still have their Korean menu AND new to the family, a Mexican option. I haven't tried that menu yet. When I want to be healthy, the bibimbap (K-20) is the way to go!! Sometimes on the go, I like to buy their kimbab. I've also tried their Beef Bone Soup (K-34), I love the soup but it can be difficult to gnaw on the bone in public especially trying to be COVID safe. I tried my uncle's Donkatsu (K-10). This is so good too. It was light and crispy, not heavy with oil. The slaw that came with it was simple and tasty. Honestly, I was never a donkatsu fan til now. Lastly, I also tried the stone pot bulgogi (K-22). Bulgogi is usually sweet. So, this dish was no different. My mom and I just wasn't use to the taste. That's just our palate. Update: most items at the food court have gone up 15-20% on average with no improvement in the ingredients. The galbi tang had 3 small bits of beef and they sold it at +15% before before the start of jan 2021. People used to come here for an affordable meal now they are looking elsewhere. The taste hasn't gone up either. U get a free tea that's about to expire in 1 month as part of your meal. read more

I really thought I wrote a review here before. This is the first Nam Dae Mun I've ever visited. The Duluth location is in the former Bass Pro Shops across from Kaiser Permenente. I usually go to the Lilburn location. I like Nam Dae Mun because of the variety of different ingredients from around the world. I prefer the cuts of meats at Nam Dae Mun from other Asian grocery stores and it's a lot cheaper too. To me, every grocery store will have a hit or miss on fruits if it's not in season. OK so this is how my day started - I needed some short ribs so I could get some Korean style BBQ (galbi) marinated for Xmas dinner (it's sort of a tradition at my house to have both American style with turkey/dressing/etc and Korean (ribs, kimchee, japchee) for the feast). I first sent to Buford Highway Farmers Market (this is an old staple for us as it has the largest selection) - I turned around and left after seeing 10 carts in every line - I've never seen it quite this busy and I didn't have time to wait. Next stop, Gwinnett International Farmers Market (never been, but a friend recommended them as he was able to buy ribeyes here for $4.99/pound). When I first entered the building, which is to the left of Home Depot (same side) of Shackleford Rd in Duluth (off of Pleasant Hill Rd - easier to get off on Steve Reynolds and come in through the other side to avoid the horrible Pleasant Hill traffic), you get this odor that's hard to describe - actually I think enough has been said about it that I'll just pass on that it was unpleasant. I've bought at open air markets before so it didn't stop me from going in, but to most American shoppers I could be a deal killa. The first thing I noticed was how well all the produce was stacked and presented. The prices of the few things I tested were well in line with the Buford Highway Farmers market and there were certainly fewer people crowding the aisles. There was, however a noticeable lack of anything marked as organic (same problem at BufHi) - I actually buy most of my produce at the Your Dekalb Farmers Market because of this, but there are some staple goods that aren't reasonably priced as an organic product (Dekalb, by the way has the best prices I've found for organics) so those were the ones I made note of at GIFM. The prices here on regular produce aren't bad at all and I wouldn't mind picking up a few things - they obviously take care in presentation which is a cut above what you see elsewhere. The next area was the meat section - WOW - it's been a while since I've seen butchers trimming meats in an open area like that - reminds me of the old "Alue Oods" (think Value Foods with neon letters that don't work) in Little Five Points. When I lived there I would occasionally go in for the condiment or what not - the whole place smelled like red meat and I think both that and the sea food section contribute to the unpleasant odor when you walk into the GIFM (plus there's some other mysterious noxious odor entered into the mix). The mix of fat, blood stains, etc did not deter me from looking over the meats (as long as there weren't entrails flung about I'm OK with the environment - it may sway many from buying though - think abattoir). The butchers looked like they knew what they were doing. I found the short ribs - priced at $8.99/lb - seemed a bit much so I walked on. I looked around at some of the random aisles - the Korean restaurant/stand at the back looked interesting and the smells were certainly enticing. But I didn't have time to sample so I made my way to the front. I had picked up two items but decided I'd go elsewhere (still had to pick up ribs) so I made a quick exit without purchasing. Ultimately I found my ribs at Super H Mart - $6.99/lb (they also had a "special" of frozen ribs for $5.99 in a larger pack, but I prefer the meat fresh). I'll give the GIFM one more try - I'm sure there's something here that I can't find elsewhere. For people living in the area most of the market is geared towards Asians (esp Koreans) and Hispanics. As it is, there are too many markets near me to make a special trip up to Duluth. read more

Pro's: Been coming here about a year, mostly for the variety of fresh whole fish thats always tasted fresh and great! Con's: I will be careful with purchasing the meats, if you buy chicken check their expiration date and even when you get a meat product home especially chicken wash and freeze what you do not use right away...I've found that a package of chicken from here did not last 3 days refrigerated before spoiling. Not the case at other markets...one must check and smell their products when its at home. I also witnessed a worker toss a packaged frozen meat product on the floor of the market and then he placed it into a cooler for patrons. Saw a female worker handling meat product with bare hands. Saw a woman sweeping in the fish area, stop what she was doing to help patron (me) without washing and or changing gloves to help me with raw fish product I ordered. With that observation this market has a huge variety of items thats great and exciting. The handling of their raw meat products I have at times questioned. I've gone home though not displeased. I first use to come here when i use to live In Lawrenceville yes i drove from Lawrenceville to Duluth to this farmers market because this was the closest one to me which had all exactly what i was looking for , specially when it comes down to meat shopping . This farmers market has a good portion of meat options for great prices specially if your trying to feed a good group of people the meat selection and prices an vey reasonable plus a good amount to share . They have cooked Asian food, a bakery, and a seafood / meat department just as well as a small appliance area that has toiletry , kitchen items an etc . The lines are usually long with a few cashiers and a customers service desk no self check out so be prepared to wait in the lines . This location is a million times better than the one in Lilburn, which I will never step into again. Still, this one is not the most pristine market ever either. I would like for them to replace every single shopping cart. They are rusted to death and have food and the lord knows what other kinds of stains on them. Inside, this farmers market has a huge selection of produce, meats, and seafoods. They have good prices for some things, but for others, I thought the prices were high for a farmers market. Most prices were decent though. The meat prices were pretty good. I noted some nice ribeye steaks for $4.99 a pound. Chicken pieces were .99 a pound. I've never seen that many packages of chicken in a store before. I love their nice section of every spice you can imagine. The seafood section was popping here. They have a fine selection of fish available and they chop off heads and fillet on the spot. I really wanted the crab legs to be less than $12.99 a lb. I hate some of the smells that overtook me. There was the overwhelming fish smell and then there were the unknowns. Off-putting to be sure. They have a food court. It is right beside the seafood section, so you can smell fish the whole time you're eating. They have a pretty sizable eating area with plenty of tables. I saw that they had a Chinese food menu and a Korean food menu. The pricing of some items and good selection would get me back here, but I might be willing to pay a little more to have nice clean carts and neutral smells. read more

I had went to the one in lilburn. This was my first time going to this location in Duluth. Immediately upon entering you could smell raw seafood and not in a good way. I only went because a friend asked me to pick up this seafood mix. I purchased some bing cherries they were deep red in color . Will elaborate on this later. So I headed to the seafood counter which was crowded with people purchasing fresh fish. They do have a variety. The first thing I noticed was that for the amount of fresh fish, a large quantity, there was minimal ice on the fish. I headed to counter where I found the seafood mix along with shrimp and scallops. None of this was on ice but silly me thought that the pans may have been sitting on ice. I got my seafood and left. Once in the car I noticed a strong stench. Once getting home the scallops stunk to high heaven. The cherries were very mushy and if I didn't live so far away I would have taken them back. Long story long I will never ever purchase from any of these locations ever again. For the price you pay it's a lot but it's not worth getting sick. The health department needs to inspect these places more frequently because I know for a fact that the way they are doing business is not up to code. read more

There are 3 markets of this kind for me to choose from within the vicinity of where I live. Nae Dae Mun comes in 2nd place for distance but always 1st choice as my go to. Quite honestly as I'm writing this review, I'm sitting here thinking exactly what DOES keep me coming back? The workers are not overly friendly nor are they rude. They are just there. Working. There is no host welcoming you with a warm hello or smile as you enter or exit. This place is so congested and chocked full of produce that most of the time I find myself squeezing up against crates or tables with my shopping cart struggling to get by other customers or between aisles. There is a small cafeteria like space in the back area that looks like you may be able to order hot food. I say "looks like" because I've never ordered anything from there. They also a fish market located in the back of the store where you can get fresh/thawed out seafood weighed and bagged. The line is always terribly long at the fish market so I have not yet had the pleasure of ordering from there out of the many times I have visited. The lines at the regular cash registers are always long as well so I would definitely say expect a wait. In reading over my review it sounds a bit negative but I assure you that this is not a bad review hence the 5 stars. I am drawn back to this place and will continue to come until otherwise lol. An often overlooked supermarket in Duluth is the Gwinnett International Farmers Market. Not as new, clean, or trendy as the H Mart, GreatWall, or Assi just one exit north, but GIFM still offers many of the same produce, meats, fish, and packaged products at comparable, competitive, and already low prices. The bakery smells delicious and it's fun to watch the butchers cutting huge slabs of meat in meat section. While it's Asian-owned, this market is not as Asian-centric as the others (e.g. I believe they offer more Hispanic foods). They do have a small food court serving Chinese and Korean fare. Where else can you go and find an entire aisle of green tea? Only the Gwinnett International Farmers Market. This warehouse market is the size of Super Wal-Mart with food, home accents, luggage, electronics and clothing. The only difference is the goods carried are predominately utilized by Asians and Hispanics. I felt like I was in New York in a massive bodega/meat market/fresh fish market/local home store all rolled into one. The Gwinnett International Farmers Market has all types of products that are few and far between at most supermarkets in Atlanta. I learned that in certain other countries, people eat dried out shrimp sold in packages; I saw this with my own eyes and was somewhat amazed. Although dried shrimp is not my thing, the fact that it is sold at this market proves that you can find all sorts of cultural delicacies. Pots, pans and other cooking utensils are also available in abundance for great prices. I purchased a Martha Stewart Wok set that retails at $30 for just $9.99 on sale. If you know anything about a good wok, that's a steal! I will definitely be making my way back to the Gwinnett International Farmers Market. So I have been going here for years, even before the name change and will probably continue to come here for years. From time to time you get really really good deals but the meat and seafood section stays usually pricy. Most of the staff seems to be Hispanic but there are employees from various nationalities that always seem willing to help which is a good thing being that there are multiple nationalities that shop here. There are some farmer markets that seem to have more international products but I don't think this one stays too behind. Be warned though, the place is always crowded, floors seem to always be slippery and the smell is not too sweet but I would still recommend this place to anyone since you can find almost any product here.
