I am suffering with pretty severe bronchitis, with the usual symptoms including fever, headaches, painful bad cough, aches, blood in sputum etc. After spending the first part of the week in bed my girlfriend encouraged me to go to the doctors. After a 1.5hour wait I was eventually seen by a "doctor" who after a brief and not very thorough examination said you have a chest infection he then asked "what would you like me to do?".
What would you like me to do? - Your the doctor you condesending prat! I asked him for antibiotics, I havnt had them for years and only go to the doctors when its absolutely neccessary (the last time being 4 years ago). He refused saying that a fit and health guy like me should get over something like this one my own within 10 days. I suppose what he meant to say was that if I was a sissie that was in the docs every 5 mins for every little headache, cold or any other minor little health issue then it would have been a different story.
Im now back in bed, still feel like crap; with Christmas a week away, still got shopping to do, I havnt eaten for nearly 4 days and no idea when I will get better. It makes me angry that I pay £400 per month to the tax man and then when I need some of that back by means of medical help I get nothing. Thanks a lot NHS and thank you The City Health Centre for your unprofessional and neglegent attitude to peoples health. read more
