It may have only 38 reviews at the time I am writing this, but I am not sure I have seen a place where nearly all of them are polarized. I think to some degree, go here for what they are good at. Ah, now what are they good at? I am not 100% sure I am going to be able to give a coherent answer on that. What I can do is relate my experience. Needing some basic chairs, it was nice to go over a wide selection of possibilities, find something that works, and order it. The delivery took a bit longer than expected, but everything worked out well in the end. I also used them for a mattress -- as in just a mattress. It was a brand I never tried before. It was available online direct, but for something like this, it would be nice to actually try it out beforehand. The price was right, the delivery time for this, even better. So great on that front. As for the deliveries... Not too much to talk about. Be prepared, however, to ensure you got everything. The delivery people are going to put you on a live call where you affirm that you received everything. Then you have 24 hours to do a final inspection upon taking everything out of boxes, assembly, whatever. They were flexible with delivery timelines, which was a plus. Pushing it out another week due to travel was not a problem. read more

Recently purchased a dining table and chairs. The salesman Robert was excellent, very knowledgeable and nice enough to take us through the store and offer great suggestions once we explained what we were looking for. The delivery took a few days and was done on time, even earlier than expected that day. The delivery team were professional and set up everything very quickly. However, one of the chairs received was slightly damaged, which was very disappointing. Within the 24 hours to report any damages, I was able to quickly get the chair repaired in home. Overall, I would say we're pleased with the purchase and customer service at this time. I'm hoping any future purchases will also be as easy and go well. read more

In mid October, we Purchased a Dinning Room Table and Chairs and box support for mattress. We were concerned that the box support would raise the height of the mattress, which will make it difficult for my wife. We were assured by sales person and delivery personal that the effect on height was minimal. They were wrong! When trying to return a $200 box mattress support City Furniture would have charged me $100 for the return, even though we had another delivery so they could have taken the return. Concerning our Dinning Room table. Due to have a floor replacement by our contractor, we needed to move furniture. In disassembly of the Table it was discovered that 2 of the six main bolts that hold the table to the base were missing. Further inspection note that screw inserts were never there. The City assembly crew never mentioned the lack of 1/3 of the screw that secure a heavy table to the base. This demonstrated a complete lack of safe and customer service. We are thankful that we found this defect before someone was injured. In my oponion buying furniture at City Furniture was a gigantic error on my part. Please look elsewhere! Finally, do not expect to ever to able to talk to a person to explain your situation. read more

I received a Bernhardt Sectional that was defective and not the quality I expected for the price. They replaced the first sectional I received but the pieces did not line up and the color is obviously different. I submitted a claim as they suggested and it was DENIED! This company is a great disappointment. My daughter has the same sectional and waited 7-8 months for a headrest leather cover! They assured me I would be taken care of. What a disgrace with customer service. I don't usually leave a review but the whole situation has been stressful. First visit to this furniture store. Most of the furniture was not my style. There was a lot of light colored furniture and less traditional styles. I did see a few chairs and a few bedroom sets that were nice. We were window shopping and exploring the options. We liked that there was an option to customize a couch bed that we would look into when we rearrange one of the rooms. It was interesting that they had DJ playing music. This was the 1st furniture store with a cafe selling coffee, select food choices, and alcohol. This store is huge with 2 floors with an elevator and an escalator to navigate the space. There is a big variety from living room, bedroom, kitchen, nursery and outdoor furniture. The prices seemed reasonable and it was nice that you could also buy the bedding. The staff were friendly, and we would go back to check out the custom bed couch, some accessories, and maybe some living room chairs. read more

Three Orders with City Furniture. There was an issue with each order. First order was a couch. They forgot a piece on the first delivery and they said they could bring the missing piece in a few months until we complained. The second order were chairs. There are three styles of the same chair. We picked out two mid tone chairs. City Furniture brought us a light tone and dark tone chair. They were mismatched chairs. I called and they attempted to rectify the issue. Upon the delivery of the correct item, one of the delivery people asked me what was wrong with the chairs. After explaining it to him that it was clearly two different colors let alone the wrong chairs, he tried to explain how they were close and imply that I should not be complaining. His co-worker was laughing because it was clear as day they were two different chairs. With the third order we ordered pillows. I should have known that delivering pillows would be too difficult for city furniture to handle. This part is on me I should have known how grossly incompetent they were but thought "hey, we like those pillows how could they mess that up" ordered the pillows from the salesperson in store who confirmed that the pillows are in stock. He said pillows are in stock you will receive them in a couple of weeks. A week later advised pillows no longer in stock will be in stock in a month. About a month later I receive a delivery confirmation that the pillows would be coming and to confirm my availability to receive them. I confirmed my availability. Morning of the delivery I get a notification the delivery is cancelled and they will be in touch when the item is in stock. 3 for 3! Do not order items from this company unless you want to be misled, greenlighted, spend months waiting on the items you paid for or deal with gross incompetence. read more

We bought a sectional in July 2024. It was delivered August 2024. December 2024 we made a warranty claim for cushions sagging already. They replaced 2 cushions and were waiting on another. We recently visited City Furniture in search of a new couch, and were assisted by a sales associate named Kelly. We came in with one very specific and non-negotiable requirement: that the couch be made in the United States. We made this explicitly clear to Kelly from the outset. After browsing, we found a couch we were open to purchasing and asked Kelly where it was manufactured. Her initial response was, "I don't know. It's new. We'll need to look into it, but I do believe it's American made." After a brief pause, she followed up and told us it was made in Mississippi. We reasonably assumed she had looked it up, as any responsible salesperson would do when assisting customers making a large purchase. When the couch arrived, we were shocked to see it clearly labeled "Made in Vietnam"--with additional tags written entirely in Vietnamese. There were also frayed edges. We contacted Kelly to express our concern and request assistance, but instead of helping, she became defensive and dismissive. She claimed she never told us where it was made, and blamed us for not researching it ourselves--contradicting what she had originally told us. She also relayed this inaccurate version of events to her General Manager, insisting the mistake was solely ours. Throughout the conversation, Kelly spoke to us in a condescending tone, as if we were children, and her email response was equally unprofessional. Her handling of the situation has been deeply disappointing and has now escalated to the point where we are being forced to consult legal counsel. This experience has been a nightmare, and I strongly urge others to avoid working with Kelly if you're looking for honest, professional guidance--especially on a major purchase. read more

This company is an absolute scam. You have 3 days to report damage and if you want to return anything there is a $99 restocking fee. My original delivery window was a Wednesday from 1pm-4pm, driver didnt show up until close to 5pm. Assembled the chair and on Friday morning (within 48 hours) reported a flaw in the material of the seat. I did so via the online chat. I was offered a $100 store credit or a $80 credit to my visa. I accepted the Visa credit. I then received a voicemail from someone named Ivan saying that what the online rep told me was wrong because I did not report the flaw within the first 24 hours. I called back and waited on hold for 25 minutes and spoke to a lady and told her what happened. She took notes and said she could do a $100 credit to my visa and gave me a credit memo #. Unbelievably, she calls me back within 5 minutes to tell me she was wrong again and cannot do the credit to my Visa. So now I have been told TWICE I would receive a credit back to my visa, once for $80 and the second time for $100. I then tell her I want to return the chair as I am over this shoddy, unethical company. She then proceeds to tell me there are no returns. I said what kind of policy is that and where does it say that? She says its the store policy so I go online and find out that is NOT the case. You can indeed return online orders within 3 days however there is a $99 restocking fee. She has to put me on hold to verify this and comes back and says yes you can return it but there is a $99 restocking fee. I chose not to do this for a $199 chair. In the end, the ONLY option I was given was to have a repairman come out on one day of the week only, doesn't matter if that day is not good, and he will have to say whether the chair can be fixed..... This is the WORST customer service I have received anywhere. If you buy anything here, just know you will be stuck with it no matter what is wrong with it and if any parts have to be ordered it will be a 3 month wait. Also know that they may offer you a credit, TWICE, and then call you back and say never mind we can't do that. Never, ever again will I. buy here and I will tell everyone I know not to step foot in this unethical business. Update 10-25-22: I received a phone call from Wendolyn at City furniture on Saturday 10/22/22, the day after I emailed kate@cityfurniture.com below. Conversation started out with her telling me that because I didn't report the damage within 24 hours they could not give me the discount that was offered to me twice and that the only thing they could do was send a repairman out. I said then why are you calling me because that's already where we stand and I'm not happy with that? She ended up offering to have a new chair sent with premium delivery but the soonest that would take place was 11/4/22. I explained to her that their return policy, or lack thereof, is completely unacceptable and I know of NO store where you cannot take an item back that you purchased within a couple days and get a complete refund. In fact, I told her about the chair I had previously purchased at Office Depot that I decided a few weeks later I did not like; I took it back to the store without a box and was given a hassle free refund, no questions asked. Office Depot is where I will be buying my next chair, definitely not City Furniture. Monday 10-24-22 I was contacted by the Charles from the City Furniture social media team regarding a post I made on Twitter. He explained to me that because I accepted the premium delivery from Wendolyn they could not provide the discount that was offered twice. I explained to him that Wendolyn did not offer me anything besides the premium delivery, she said that was all that could be done so of course I accepted, what else was I to do? Charles then offered to provide me a $50 discount in the form of a check or a $100 store credit. I let him know a store credit would be useless to me as I will never step foot in the City Furniture store again. I'm still not happy with the service that was provided and how much effort I had to put into this but in the end, supposedly I am getting a new chair & in addition I am getting a check for $50. What a waste of my Saturday. We came to pick up the floor model sleeper sofa I purchased on Thursday. We were told a fully insured 3rd party needed to pick it up for liability reasons. Our personal company is insured for $1 million. We brought the paperwork with proof and then were informed it had to be a moving company and could not pick up the sofa. The sales associate had already approved the pick up method upon purchase. The manager kept blaming corporate policy and had no method of resolution other than refund. We will not be shopping at City Furniture again. We will happily take our business elsewhere. The confusing part is why can I buy a lamp and carry it out without being insured? What if I trip on the carpet? No different than me loading the sofa out of the loading deck with my insurance policy. Poor customer service. read more

The store is beautiful and fun to walk around. However, my buying experience with them has never been smooth. My husband and I bought a bed frame first and then the matching drawers two weeks later. (One from Altamonte and the other from Orlando.) The bed frame (from Orlando) came with a manufacturing defect and so we're currently waiting for the replacement. One of the drawers was damaged (Altamonte) and now we are also waiting for those. I don't advise buying any furniture unless it's at a discount; it is cheaply made and poorly assembled in some parts. Price and quality definitely don't match. Altamonte Customer service is not great, so if you're going to buy, I'd go to the Orlando one. The replacement process has been a bit of a headache. read more

Awful experience. We looked online for a new bed frame. We found a twin sized one that I liked and we decided we wanted to come by on the weekend to the store to see if it was on display so we could look at it in person before buying it. When we walked in, a sales lady asked if we needed help with anything. We told her we wanted to look at any twin bed frames they had. She informed us that a twin bed is a "child's bed" and that we needed to go to the children's section. We knew they carried adult twin frames though from their website, so we decided to just browse alone. However, she wouldn't let us go. She kept being very pushy and dragged us to look at king beds. We reminded her that we wanted a twin and she kept showing us kings and queens. We couldn't get a word in with her. She was so pushy. It was a really tacky sales method. I'm in retail. I completely understand trying to sell and showing off products, but this lady was borderline rude with how forceful she was being and ignoring what we specifically said we needed. I'm a patient person, and I actually found myself getting angry with how aggressive the sales women was getting. Eventually we broke free from her by just walking away. Eventually, we found a adult twin bed frame I liked. We decided to just order online after what a hassle the sales lady gave us. As we were walking to the door, she saw us and made a beeline to us. We told her we found what we were looking for, but she kept trying to up sell us yet again to a king or queen bed. We just walked out because she kept talking at us and trying to drag us back to the sales floor to look at beds we specifically said didn't work for us. I have never been treated this way in any retail space. We were ignored and aggressively pushed to products we didn't want. It almost felt patronizing. I respect a good hustle, but this was not it! They seriously need classier customer services and business practices. read more

Third Update: 07/18/2024, From 5 Stars to 1, I split the difference at 3. My saga came to a close. I originally went to City Furniture to purchase a $300 mirror. I was convinced at the time to spend the $2000+, so I would get $300 dollar credit. Which essentially would cover the cost of the mirror. As noted below, I had various problems with city furniture honoring my credit, not to mention backorder issues, etc. I also kept on hitting walls, through customer service (whom were very nice but never resolved my issue) Feeling wronged, I persisted and escalated eventually to City Furniture's CEO Andrew Koenig whom to his credit, quickly asked someone on his team to review my issue. Lonnesha kindly reviewed my files and long story short I got my rightfully earned $300 credit, and today on 7/18/2024, my mirror was finally delivered. I am happy overall, because I do like City Furniture's items / physical store, I spent alot of money there. And ultimately it wasn't about just the money, it was principal. I was upset in principal. But thankfully there's a happy ending to the story. So I updated the review. And lastly gave my feedback to City Furniture, to not let this happen to others, and hopefully this will help someone in the future. They needed to have taken care of my issue way before it made it's way to the CEO. But to their credit, once it did it was taken care of. I was waiting for my 15% credit to purchase an item I wanted. So throughout these months I had called multiple times, had email correspondance with Kendra, confirming my eligibility for the $300 credit, and called customer service multiple times to follow up. But Today July/12/2024, Jay Jones the general manager at the store wasted both our times for over an hour. Saying that my order actually totaled to $1983 dollars so it didn't qualify. That is not what I have in writing from City Furniture from Kendra. Its not what I was told multiple times from Customer Service when I called in previously. I spent 10's of thousands of dollars, and because allegedly of a $17 dollar difference, and the fact their own representatives told me I qualified in writing. Jay said they will not honor it. Horrible customer service, and even if there was a mistake by City Furniture that they told me incorrectly and processed my order wrong. I obvoulsy common sense wouldn't spent 1983 dollars, and stop there to pass $2000 to get $300 dollars back. Because of $17s they preferred to upset a customer who spends thousands. Went in tonight with my wife to take a look. The location is huge and the sales team wasn't stalking us which is great. Furniture wise we were let down as despite the size there were limited items that had any appeal. We were primarily looking at beds with storage and found two. The first we couldn't open the drawers as all 4 were broken. The next one we found had broken drawers, had been put together wrong, and the frame was split in three places. For a brand new showroom to look like this someone has to be seriously beating the crap out of furniture or it's made so poorly that it falls apart that easy from folks walking through. Do not expect to ever get a response to any e-mail you send and if you call the store, expect the management to be as rude as they possibly can be. I ended up contacting City Furniture corporate and writing a letter to the CEO. I have purchased furniture from City Furniture before in Ft. Lauderdale and it went as smooth as silk.
