Check City's return policy. The language favors the business, not the buyer. We had a very disappointing sales experience which I documented here-but I don't see it anymore? The "30 day Policy" is not what is stated in writing. If you buy a mattress from City Home, ask questions; get it in writing from the Sales Representative. Make them print out the receipts and be sure the costs are itemized before they charge your credit account. This is a very "slick" operation and the benefit is theirs. update: after i was contacted by 'steve' of the social media department of city furniture in response to my review, he offered me 20% off a future purchase as resolution. are you effing kidding me?? what am i supposed to do with this hunk of junk? i googled how to remove off gassing from furniture. so i put the pillow covers in the drier to heat it out, and now they're shrunk and won't even fit back on the cushions. useless, just like city furniture. the alpha sectional couch that was delivered was loaded with toxic chemicals. they say they don't accept returns for 'bad smells'. it's more than just a smell, it's toxic chemicals leaching into your body. do not buy from this untrustworthy place. read more

We recently moved to the Sarasota area and were excited to see a brand-new City Furniture opening nearby. We attended their soft opening back in July and loved one of their sectionals, so at the end of August, we decided to purchase it online. That's when everything started to go downhill. After placing our order, we learned that two items were on backorder -- with no clear or reliable date for when they would arrive. It was shocking that such a large company would continue to sell furniture without knowing when (or if) they could deliver it. On multiple occasions, we were told we might only receive half of the sectional and that if we didn't like it, we could cancel. For a $3,000+ order, that response felt careless and unprofessional. After waiting for months, our sectional finally arrived -- but the delivery was a disaster. The drivers were rough and careless, rolling the pieces into our home. When we unwrapped everything, we were disgusted to find the sectional filthy and clearly not brand new. There was dirt along the seams, pink discoloration under the cushions (like something had spilled and bled through), and dents throughout. Even mold on the tag, how horrible! When we contacted customer service immediately, their response made it worse. Instead of apologizing or replacing it, they offered a discount or to send someone to clean it -- on the very first day we owned it. They also implied that because we didn't purchase the "premium delivery," we shouldn't expect the same quality of care. What shocked us most was when a manager told us that purchasing the premium delivery service allows their team to inspect and clean the furniture before delivery. That raised serious concerns -- why does new furniture need to be "cleaned" and "inspected" before being sent out? What kind of condition is it being stored in? It made us feel like these items are being repackaged or reused. When they came to pick up the sectional, the delivery crew was again careless, dragging the pieces out and making them even dirtier. We took photos just in case there were issues with our refund -- because, by that point, we didn't trust the company at all. Overall, this experience was beyond disappointing. From the lack of communication and long delays to the poor product quality and dismissive attitude from customer service, City Furniture completely failed us. The driver mentioning "Yeah it's hard to keep a white couch clean" as if they knew how hard it was to clean it? We'll never shop here again, and we wouldn't recommend anyone else risk going through this. Save yourself the headache and buy from a retailer that actually values its customers and delivers what you pay for. We recently purchased a bed frame, a 50" table, and four white chairs from the City Furniture location on University Parkway, and the experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. The white chairs were delivered with black fingerprints all over them, and the bed frame is so unstable that it shakes noticeably if you simply sit on it. When we attempted to reject the delivery due to these issues, the delivery team informed us it was their last stop of the day. They called customer service, who then tried to bribe us with a discount on furniture we clearly stated we did not want. We never signed for the furniture, yet City Furniture refused to take it back. Instead, they offered to "clean" the chairs and tighten the loose bed frame, which is completely unacceptable for what was supposed to be brand new furniture. We tried to follow up with the store directly. Our call to speak with the store manager went unanswered, and we never received a return call. Out of frustration, we visited the store in person on Sunday. We spoke with both our salesperson and the store manager and showed them photos and video of the defective bed frame. They appeared appalled and promised to get back to us--but we've heard absolutely nothing since. We are beyond disgusted with this establishment. The lack of accountability, poor quality of furniture, and complete disregard for customer satisfaction are astonishing. We strongly warn others to stay away from City Furniture. This is David P, a verified purchaser, and this a follow up on my prior review from May 15th, 2026. After posting the truth about the terrible service, and overcharging from City furniture, the "business owner" immediately replied, stating contact Kate@city-furniture.com. I was instructed to include my order#, my last name, so City could review my order, the associated charges, and come up with a suitable resolution to our problem. That's all well, and good, but nothing, other than worthless words have been offered as restitution for the horrible service, and the mistakes made on our order (about $8,000.00). I intend to take the next step to protect ourselves from these predators., unless City mans up, and actually does something about the issues. I ordered, they canceled the order after their systems and processes screwed everything up, we'll never shop at a CITY Furniture again. Ordered a couch/sectional to be delivered about 3 weeks out from when we could take delivery. They can't hold an order more than 2 weeks, so our salesperson (Geena) moved it out once to accommodate, and I had to move it one more day out to when we could take delivery. Got emails and robocalls to "confirm" delivery (for the date I originally gave them and changed it to personally). When we attempted to respond to the confirmation email, it wouldn't work. Left calls for our salesperson who avoided our messages, ended up demanding a manager to discuss the fiasco, and had to argue with his call screener to speak with him. Learned that our order was cancelled and directed to another customer. I cancelled the deal outright and told them I was completed unsatisfied with how they handled business. Geena promised the world and neither she nor CITY could deliver, and offered no good answers. They have some nice pieces but awful processes and broken promises. Advice is to shop anywhere. Anywhere other than CITY. read more

Sales lady Janet was the worst. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. The first time I was in the store the sales reps ignored me. I was there 45 minutes and not one hello. I went back a second time to get the beds I liked anyways. On delivery day, they forgot to bring the bed rails. RESCHEDULED for 1 week later, then was RESCHEDULED again to the following week. On the third delivery attempt, they FORGOT THE BED RAILS AGAIN!!!!! They left the bed without the bedrails and said i needed to RESCHEDULE for a fourth time! read more

We purchased a sectional sofa from City Furniture on July 4, 2025, with delivery on July 25, 2025. Within several months of normal residential use, the sectional developed significant defects, including: Severe rippling and deformation of the seat cushions, resulting in reduced comfort and support Fabric that appears dingy and does not clean properly, despite being advertised as stain- and moisture-resistant A cup holder component that does not remain secured on its track and frequently falls off These issues developed gradually over time, consistent with latent defects--problems not immediately visible at delivery but caused by flaws in materials, manufacturing, or design. I submitted a warranty claim on January 17, 2026. On January 19, 2026, I was informed that the claim would be denied because the issue was allegedly "not reported on time." This rationale is unreasonable for several reasons: The sectional is well within the 12-month manufacturer warranty. Warranties are intended to cover defects that appear during the warranty period, including gradual or progressive failures--not only issues visible immediately upon delivery. The defects described are not consistent with normal wear and tear. Reporting the problem once it became unacceptable is reasonable; most consumers would not report minor or slowly developing issues immediately. The sectional was sold as a $4,600 product marketed as durable and stain-resistant, creating a reasonable expectation that it would perform far beyond six months. In addition to the express warranty, the product is also subject to implied warranties under Florida law, including the implied warranty of merchantability, which requires that goods be fit for ordinary residential use and last a reasonable period of time. City Furniture sent a service technician to inspect the sectional on January 22, 2026. The technician confirmed that the condition of the furniture was not consistent with normal wear and tear after only 5.5 months of use. He further stated that the damage was due to poor quality and manufacturing defects, that the issues were irreparable, and that the sectional could not be repaired. He also confirmed that a hinge inside the cup holder was broken, which explains why it does not function properly. The technician indicated he would relay these findings to City Furniture. Shortly thereafter, I received a voicemail stating that the technician could not repair the issue and that City Furniture would not be able to move forward. During that same voicemail, it was also stated--incorrectly--that the damage occurred on the day of delivery. This is completely false and has never been claimed or suggested by me. Based on this experience, I am extremely disappointed with City Furniture's handling of a clear warranty issue on an expensive product and would caution other consumers to carefully consider their warranty practices before purchasing. read more

I purchased a chandelier from city furniture I had my Electrician put it up. I blew four sets of bulbs out with it. It does not work. They will not take it back. I paid cash for it. I will never shop there again. People stay away from that store, it's not a good place to shop. They have nice stuff. When unfortunately they don't back their product up which is terrible. I spent over $500 on it and it just doesn't work and it won't take it back or replace it. I will never shop there again and a few people were smart. you wouldn't go there either. I a couch there wasn't given the option to buy it on a credit card. They just bought it a regular payment plan. My niece was in three days before that and got a discount because she put it on a city furniture credit card, which I wasn't offered spoke to my sales person. She said her manager would call me never did call back. She would call me never did call back. She told me I needed to reach out to him myself, which upset me besides the fact when they delivered the couch, they broke my nice lamp had to jump through hoops to get them to pay for it me and another friend we're buy a dining room set there. We both are not. Big new beautiful store with terrible customer service. Spent $5k on a nice new Tempur-Pedic bed yet the ridiculous lack of customer service on a delivery issue will prevent us from making other purchases there. The issue was immediately reported though ignored. I made a store visit to get someone's attention. After twice being told "we'll speak to the manager " without getting so much as a call back I returned to the store a second time for assistance. Manager was not interested in my satisfaction and left the sales person to fumble with delivery team finger pointing. Simple issue easily resolved though no accountability from the vendor. Do yourself a really big favor and don't be impressed by how beautiful the store is as I was when I visited the showroom here. I bought a bedroom set, another upholstered king bed and a dining room table. It was a nightmare from the beginning and is continuing to be a nightmare - first off is that they will lie to you about the delivery date so know that upfront I had to change my Christmas plans up north because my products were not delivered on time. I am still waiting on the delivery of a defective bed after my first one was stained - City furniture has been here four times and it is still not a resolved issue. Oh and by the way my dining table was broken bring put onto the truck too. I bought other furniture from other local stores that did a phenomenal job and if you call to complain or ask for help you are passed from person to person and no one helps you. When I came into the store, my first request was that I needed a bedroom set right away while I was still in town, as guests would be coming. I needed something that was in stock. The sales associate checked my selection, said it was in stock, and it would be no problem having it delivered on time. I received an email the next day confirming the pieces I had selected and a delivery date and time window. Fast forward a week. At almost 7pm the night before the delivery, an email arrived confirming the delivery and time. But what is this? On closer inspection I noted it only mentioned ONE of the three pieces I was expecting. After nearly an hour and a half trying to reach someone who could help me, I was told the other pieces were back ordered with no known date of availability. 2/3 of my order wasn't coming. No phone call, no heads up, no email telling me they had lied about the pieces being available, nothing, as if I wasn't supposed to notice. The amount of time and trouble I went through, only to not have furniture in my guest room for the upcoming visit after all that effort, is absolutely flabbergasting. read more

Terrible experience with power sectional and chair since June 2025, we are now in December. I bought the furniture back in middle of June ($5924 including their deliver,service and warranties) to be delivered by first week of July. First the sectional came incomplete and wrong color chair. I went back to store and I found out that the pieces were not the fabric that I want to order and the furniture was in back order until middle of October. I paid $462 more to get the Ryland sectional and chair. Those pieces came by the third week of July. After the first week of use, seats were sagging, it look like my 15 year old furniture. Called customer service, they sent a technician 2 weeks later and he inspected the furniture and let the customer service know that furniture was defected,, the seats were sagging . Got a second set of Ryland furnitures, now in end of August. Same thing after 2 days, the seats were sagging as this furniture was already old. Same thing, technician had to come to check furniture. Again he reported the furniture is not in good conditions, the seats are sagging and not support. I went to the store and I picked a furniture that looks more sturdy, but this sectional and chair were $250 cheaper. I arranged the delivery, it was late Thursday. Store manager said customer service is close by that time but I will have store credit, it will be place later on. I got the Ellis sectional but chair was in back order until early Dec. I texted the sales representative for the credit and he mentioned Manager has to place it in my account. I did contact him twice and he said the same. One arm of the sectional had a fabric defect, technician came again to my home, yes that arm need to be change. I just got the replacement of that arm with the new chair, but the drivers could not pick up the old chair because they did not have space. I went to store again to have the credit previously mentioned, at this point I thought they will be more apologetic and give at least a gift card or something in top of my credit because of all these issues and time waist and THEY REFUSED TO GIVE ME MY CREDIT, BECAUSE THEY WERE CHARGING ME AND CREDIT ME THE DELIVERY OF THE PREVIOUS PIECES, WHEN THE FURNITURE WAS DEFECTIVE. Manager was back and for with me that I did not paid delivery the first time and that is how they were giving me credit for delivery the second time. IT DID NOT MAKE ANY SENSE....I ASKED HOW IF I DID NOT PAY DELIVERY YOU DELIVER THE FURNITURE THE FIRST TIME?....THERE WAS NOT ANY SPECIAL OR ANY THING....I have all my emails and I going to the store tomorrow and they will see in the email I have PREMIUM DELIVERY FOR EVEN MY FIRST SET OF FURNITURE..... Went to the new store at UTC Sarasota and purchased a buffet. It will be delivered next week and will update my review accordingly. The only negative note about City Furniture is their policy to follow you around the minute you walk into the store...super annoying to be in there browsing and being questioned constantly. If you're working on commission, pick a spot and wait until the customer seeks you out not the other way around. On a positive note the free cookies are delicious. read more

The furniture is great. However I paid for premium service and did not receive that. They damaged my property. Had to take another day off.So they could send the repair man to fix it. I called to see if I could get a refund on the premium delivery since I did not receive premium delivery due to the fact that they damaged.My goods did not say anything about the damage. The first person I talked to accuse me of lying that I did not pay for installation. Basically called me a liar twice and admitted that he did when I called him on it. So I asked to speak to a supervisor talking to a supervisor they tried to low ball me with some gift card. To make my experience go away which I kindly declined. I don't think I would use city furniture just for the fact that they a accuse me of being a liar, not the fact that they didn't want to stand behind the premium service and give me back what I paid for just the fact that they don't want to treat me like a human.
