Amy did an amazing job, went by to see if they could repair a nail , that broke ( it had been fixed twice at different nail salon, wasn't about to have them repair them again ) I asked if she could remove the set I had and do complete new set! This is my first yelp review; for years my daughters and I have all gone to City Nails for our nails and pedicures that STOPPED today. My daughter went to get her nails done for her graduation, she came out of there with swollen bloody fingers that I am now concerned might become infected. She repeatedly told the technician that she was hurting her only to be told "you'll be ok" she tried to pull her hand back and she proceeded to grab her hand and continue to use the drill tool. My daughter has extreme anxiety and confrontation is difficult for her. Her fingers were bleeding to the point that when the lotion was applied it turned pink and the water when she rinsed her fingers was red. I called and asked for the manager and was told that they were not there, I explained the situation to the man on the phone and was told he couldn't tell over the phone and I proceeded to tell him I would be back there within 10 minutes and he said no we are closing, they close at 7:30 this was 7pm When I called. He then proceeded to tell me no one would hurt her on purpose and I said she repeatedly told her it was hurting. A few years ago I had an amazing experience here. A few weeks ago I went in for sns full set. They got to me quickly, but in the 15 years I have been getting my nails done this way the worst experience ever. She filed my nail beds down so much it hurt. Everytime I said something she told me it was my fault for having gel nails a few weeks before. I asked for natural shape, narrow nails because my hands are really small. She made the wide and square and some of them are square with round edges. They are bumpy not smooth. Never again!!! read more

While I appreciate the time I was given for these services, I must say, if I could have ran away to Green Nail Spa (my 1st choice), I would have. The language barrier here was worse than most places. I did request to change the colour after one fingernail was painted as it was different from what I chose on the swatches. Not a big deal to me. I was polite and kind. The manicurist got fustrated afterwards, and it was evident in the quality of her work on my manicure. I get it - I wasn't your run-of-the-mill generic customer; I was being picky/selective. But hey, $85 of my money, I want the colour I chose, not whatever you have it listed as in your numbering system. I was compelled to actually ASK if I am allowed to change my colour if I wanted a different one. Another nail tech shouted that yes, I can change my colour. All in all, I was physically uncomfortable and had to ask for a pillow about 4 different times. I know, I should just bring my own pillow. Green Nail Spa has no problem offering me water or pillows for my comfort level. Green Nail Spa also ensures I am happy with the colour and shape of my nails as they go. My manicure is halfa$$ed, and I could have done a better job myself. And perhaps I may one day when I make time. I was really hopeful that this nail salon would be great. I went there a week ago to get a gel manicure done for my fathers funeral. The very next day 7 of my nails had lifted. The gel was separating from my nails. I went back to the salon, they agreed to fix my nails and redid them all. Now, my second round of gel nail polish is lifting again. This time it took 5 days to happen, but gel typically lasts 2-3 weeks at any other salon I've gone to. Overall the salon seems clean, but their staff doesn't feel welcoming and I felt rushed both times. read more

(I HAD TO PICK A STAR THEY NEED NO STARS AND HAVE NO STARS FROM ME!) I have been going to this nail salon for a few years and have had the worse service multiple times. Today I went with my sister to get our nails done and was there for two and a half hours we got there at 3 and I didn't leave until 5:45, 6 people that came in after I got done and left before me, and I got cut. When checking out I was told it was $50 and when trying to talk to the "manager" I got ignored and told no discount. He did not care about the problems that was happening in the salon at all. After leaving I called and got hung up on 7-10 times, told I could get a refund, that they just want to make me happy, continually asked if I was happy with my nails, told the manager (John) was the owner which he isn't, told (Vicky) was the owners assistant but yet no one could give me any information (name, number, or email) which is not correct for a business. The manager also told me that the person doing my nails didn't cut me which they obviously did when it happened my sister, another employee Amy saw it but yet I'm lying. When going back Lee the other "manager" when I was told John was the only one wants to fuss and me and say she can cut my nails and me come back tomorrow which I already told them I COULDNT. When I asked to speak to Vicky "the owners assistant" i was told she had nothing to say to me. The owners need to take control of there business and take a real good look at the employees and people they choose to be managers because that is not a way to handle a situation with a customer. I had a horrible experience at this nail salon. I've been getting my nails done in Athens for 4 years and have never encountered a more rude and painful appointment. I got a Honey Pedicure with Gel and SN manicure. My pedicure Was fantastic and the woman (older) was so nice. At the same time, I had a younger woman doing my finger nails. After trying to show her a picture of the nail shape I wanted, she proceeded to choose not to look at the picture and comment "I know what a nail looks like." It was extremely rude when I was just trying to obtain a special shape. Furthermore, I have cuts all around my cuticles from the tools she was using. Whenever I would jump because it would cut my skin and cause bleeding, she told me "stop moving and this won't happen." I explained I jump because it hurts. If she would've just done the nail, I would not have cuts all over my cuticles. It now hurts to wash my hands with warm or hot water due to the open wounds. I mentioned multiple times it hurt, and she just looked at me when I would jump and say stop. I was really disappointed in this experience. I felt as if she was belittling me and not being careful or gentle in any manner. After she was done, the nails had multiple white spots on the nails which they claimed "happens with some SNS colors." I've gotten SNS for three years now and it's never happened. If some of their colors do that, they should warn before hand. Once I explained the white spots needed to be fixed I continued to get cuts on my cuticles and was bleeding. She was extremely rough with my hands. She shaved them down and put gel coat over to mask the white Spots. Afterward, I left the salon with half SNS and gel nails, cut up cuticles, and paint all over my fingers. I left to shop and came back as I felt I paid for a much better service. When I asked for a refund and showed them my nails they continued to tell me no, and that it looked fine. The man in the salon fixed the glue underneath my nails that were causing my skin to stick, and also attempted to get the gel nail polish off my fingers. Regardless, it was the worst experience at a nail salon I've ever had. Without considering the job, they sent me home in worst condition then I came in with. No refunds, no redos. Went to just have a basic manicure last night, and right before I left I used the nail drying spray they have near the drying station (which I normally don't use). I got home and my nails all had kind of a foggy appearance, almost they were all smudged. I guessed just by how it was on every nail that it was maybe the spray and I was just going to leave them like that. On my way home from work today, I called to let them know what happened just to ask if that was something they would be willing to retouch - I could not have made it more clear that it was absolutely my bad, that I did not expect them to do this but just wanted to check since I had heard salons will sometimes do touch ups in situations like this. The person who answered the phone, once finding out I had just had a standard manicure legitimately lectured me about why I should not have gotten just a standard manicure, how it doesn't last as long, etc. I again said if this isn't something they can do, I understand. I just get the regular manicure because everything else makes my nails really brittle (not that I should have to explain). After she finished her, I am not exaggerating LECTURE, she said I can come in. At that point, I had already gotten an earful about my nails and choice of manicure so I went in to have them retouched feeling that was my sort of atonement for using that spray. I walked in, the same person I had just talked to looked at my nails, I grab the same nail polish from yesterday and sit down. She has gotten through taking the nail polish off of three entire fingernails and is still steadily lecturing me about waiting long enough, how they weren't dry enough, how I messed up etc. at that point it wasn't even worth it, so I just took my hand and my three unpainted fingernails back and just said never mind you should've just told me you guys couldn't do it and I left. I just moved to Hull, GA a few months ago and this nail salon was closest to my house. The usual acrylic powder does not stick to my nails and my previous salon I went to for eleven years (Buford, GA) tried several powders until they found one that would stick and it is a gel powder. I brought it with me since most salons don't carry this. They refused to use the powder I brought and said same as acrylic. Well after a year of trying different acrylic powders I knew better. Sad they didn't know all types of nails. But I opted for a pedicure instead. It was very disappointing. A few weeks later I gave them a 2nd chance on the pedicure and this time was even worse. The guy that did mine this time rushed through each step (barely touched each cuticle with pusher, touched with cuticle clipper once on each side, touched emory board to tips but didn't actually take time to shape them, rubbed lotion on my legs quickly, no massage even though menu said massage included). I felt like I got little more than a polish change. I still tipped better than 20% in case I were to go back and try someone else in the salon but next day realized he forgot to do top coat and nail polish already chipping off. I've been going to nail salons for over 25 years. By far this is the worst. It is a very nice looking place. Overpriced. And the customer service was horrific. I received a manicure and pedicure, or more like I paid for the service but did not receive either one. They didn't clean under my nails. Hands or feet. What kind of service is that. Definitely not what I paid for. $42 isn't a lot of money, but when you feel like you need to go somewhere immediately afterwards. It's $42 too much. DON'T GO HERE!! I was so excited because I thought this would be my permanent nail place. The first time I went in it was great! Very pricey but hey I was willing to pay for good service. The second time I went in for my SNS it was an insanely painful experience and the lady got finished and they looked a little thick but I was ok with that. Flash forward 1 week and my nails are now grown out, cracked and broken. I went back in to try and get it fixed today and in the middle of the conversation of me explaining what was wrong the lady looked at me and said do you know who did your nails and I said I'm not sure of the persons name.. She said girl or boy and I replied girl and she walked away as if it weren't really important so I turned to the man standing behind the counter and said ok so do I leave or? She just walked off in the middle of our conversation and he asked the same question to which I replied I'm not sure. He then looked down while I was standing there and just kind of ignored me so I said it's okay I'll just go somewhere else. This, today is a prime example of you don't know what others are going through so be kind because I had a horrible morning and just wanted my nails fixed! Wasn't even mad... Won't be returning here. Wish I could give no stars! Will NEVER come back to this place again! Went to get my nails and toes done before having my baby girl. Received the most horrible service! The lady doing my nails had no idea what she was doing and had the acrylic watery versus thick like it's suppose to be. Then she kept messing up my nail polish and yelling at me to be more careful! This happened 4 times! Then I sat in an empty chair waiting on my mom to get done and the manager came over and told me to "get up for another paying customer". I'm 9 months pregnant and had to stand for 30 minutes waiting on them to finish with my mom. Too much to list that wasn't all but after HORRIBLE service I wasn't gonna even leave a tip but I atleast wanted to tip the lady who did my toes cause she was actually nice and took her time. Well the manager watched me write down my tip and asked "is that really X amount?" And when I said yes, he shouted in front of everyone how much of a tip I left and everyone just stared at us and it was embarrassing!! Money hungry people and they do not put in the effort to make sure their customers receive good customer service or quality nails/toes or whatever service you choose! This nail spot will make an amazing first impression. Everyone is dressed in black, the furniture is beautiful and they serve complimentary drinks(wine). But, when you sit down you get the real deal. The techs are tired and overworked and it reflects in their attitudes and quality of work. Many of their SNS colors are numbered incorrectly and the techs are unwilling to search for your requested color by sight. I was only truly satisfied 1 out of 5 visits. My 1st-3rd visits were fine. The 4th visit was the best-I got exactly what I wanted and the nail tech made substitutions when he realized the display number was incorrect. My 5th and final visit was the worst. The nail tech was 15 minutes late for an appointment I arrived 30 minutes to. Two techs worked on my nails before saying they couldn't do the ombré nails I requested. When I chose a plain off white the tech returned with a pink powder telling me it was a different color but the number I chose. Huh? I told her more than once that I didn't want pink, just a simple off white. At this point I'd been there an hour and asked to just take the rest of the SNS off and I'd try another salon, willing to pay $10 here. The tech sits back in her seat with indifference and says she's done. My nails only had acetone applied so there were still remnants of my last color remaining. I told her the least she could do was remove all of the last color for 10 bucks. She drilled my nails and told me another tech could now do the ombré nails I originally asked for. This also was a lie. I walked out with a color that looks like milk on my nails, a bubble on my index finger nail and uneven cuticles. If you're looking for consistent quality this is not the nail salon for you. The tech I had for my 4th visit no longer works there. I was never rude or demanding during my visits. I'm not upset with them personally. I do expect quality for a paid service so I will take my $180/month for my daughter's and my nails elsewhere. read more

Yesterday I went to get my nails done. The very 1st time I came to this nail salon my nails were done beautifully (Great experience) Yesterday 7/18/2018 not so much. I was outraged and livid at the quality of work done on my nails. I ask for coffin shape full set manicure and a pedicure. What I received were my nails poorly done. The young lady had a hard time achieving the coffin shape she was assisted 3 times by 2 different ppl trying to help/ fix what she had done. She didn't clean up around my cuticle so that the finish look can look natural and neat. One nail was placed crooked and one nail was thicker than the other (by the way I brought all of this to her attention)I was so ready to go and frustrated by the quality of service and when she ask me did I want someone else's to finish. I said "I would like for my nails to be done over. She didn't oblige more did anyone try accommodate my needs it fixing my nails. I have been getting my nails done for 20 plus years. When I moved here from Oregon to Athens I needed to find a new nail salon. City Nails was close, which I like, because I like to go after work and a short drive works for me. I have been going to City Nails for about a year now and I will say they are not a a very detailed salon. They also don't really care what you want. I like my nails long in the coffin shape and I like them narrow. But every time I have to fight to get them the way I want, always making them to wide. Then there is always some kind of bump or painting glitch. They don't want to take the time to do it right. They just want to rush you in & rush you out. Then when i need a repair, God forbid that they do a nice job on the repair. The repaired nail never looks like the other nails ,because they want you there as little as possible and they make you feel it. Never once has the repair turned out nice. Not a friendly crew. I am looking for a new location. techs are rude and not as talented as they think. Even after a year I don't feel comfortable there or happy with the work. read more
