The Amtrak station in Eugene, OR was our midday stop on day two of our Pacific coast journey from LA to Seattle. It was designated a smoking break stop, which meant we were there for 15 minutes. It was 40 degrees outside, and rainy Leap Day 2024. The station has a large outdoor parking lot and a red brick building that handles checked bags from the train.

Money hungry creeps that don't care about our community. They have huge empty parking lots that…read morethey require you to pay by the hour even if you're just running in to grab something from a restaurant. Their so-called customer support is rude, and thoroughly unhelpful. Even if you're there for five minutes expect to get back to your car with a ticket over $50. There is no such thing as free parking with these creeps even for 5 seconds. Shame on the ticket issuing employees of this company if they live in Eugene. Stay away and don't give them any money and maybe they will leave our city.

PK Park is so much more chill compared to Autzen! While it is a significantly smaller venue, I…read morethink that's part of why I like it so much. Since PK Park can only house around 4,000 people as opposed to Autzen's 50,000, it is a much more relaxed atmosphere and you don't feel like you're being suffocated by people. Security seems to be much more lax here, and from the two games I've gone to here so far, I haven't had to wait in line outside the park for nearly as long as I would at Autzen to get inside. The park is clean, and you get a good view of the field from any seat in the house. I like that for the GA section, seating isn't assigned, so you can decide where within the section you want to sit. I got to sit in the front row behind the dugout each time I came here, and it was a great experience. The food vendors have all your typical baseball food: peanuts, cotton candy, hot dogs, ice cream, nachos, popcorn, pretzels, etc., and pricing is a little steep but not outrageous like MLB pricing. They also have a vegetarian meat option for their grand slam nachos, which I can appreciate. Also, if you're obsessed with the elusive Oregon Duck like I am, it's much easier to snap a picture with him here than it is at Autzen! Oh and the baseball team is pretty fun to watch too. I only wish I had started coming to their games sooner!

There must have been an elevator but it wasn't obvious to my eyes. I took a lot of photos of food options, because if you have a more restricted diet you might want to know what's available before you go. I did not get a shot of every menu but I got most. Or course it may vary from time to time. I was happy to see that Peek A Book Delight was there, and was able to get a cup of mango slices with seasonings like chamoy and lime. You can get peanuts for $3 and Prince Puckler's ice cream. The stadium itself just has one main screen and there were no instant replays during the game, but they did have those fun and silly fan games in between innings that were sponsored by various local businesses. The park being outside got chilly at night but the restroom was warm. There was a couch in the women's room. Note that they have a clear bag policy and if you have a prepaid ticket to park in the East Lot, the entrance is at MLK Way and Kinsrow. Google maps took me to the wrong place and I had to drive a bit to figure out where I was supposed to go as the signage was not so good.

Okay Center has changed significantly from my childhood for sure. I mean I had my first job there…read morejust after high school at Tiffany's before it underwent a large amount of renovations; I think the only thing that still remains from that time is Johnny Ocean's and possibly Skeie's. It's fairly upscale now with a couple wine bars, Hyatt, a new Drybar, Pottery Barn, and so on. There's even a stand-alone Sephora... Eugene really has hit the big time! I am usually only there for the Nordstrom Rack, but have also visited Chapala, Bambini, Burch's, and hope to visit Elizabeth's Wine Lounge soon, too.

My favorite grocery store is Trader Joes which is a highlight as well as an amazing Thai food place called Sabai! If you have not tried it you MUST GO! If this place had one downfall and not a perfect 5 stars it would be because the parking gets extremely packed on a Friday or Saturday evening. Although there will most of the time be parking behind Trader Joe's... kind of a secret spot though so don't be telling everyone.
