Baseball is back, babyyyyy! We always have a blast at Emeralds games and I'm so happy the season is back in full swing. Everyone's always super friendly and you can't beat minor league prices. I see a lot of baseball games in our future this summer!

I must admit, I had never been to Civic Stadium to watch the Ems play there. I drove by it a million times, but never really gave it much thought. So I don't have an opinion on that compared to PK Park. My husband was actually the one to suggest we start attending baseball games. So I figured, what the hell? Could be fun! We went to both the Duck and Ems baseball games last year several times. I have to admit, I absolutely love it here. PK Park has a very small, intimate feel to it. It's not like Autzen, where you're sandwiched into a group of almost 60,000 people all screaming and cheering. This is a much quieter, relaxed setting. Which I enjoy. I can relax, take a few pics, and chat with the people I'm there with. The vendors have typical concessions. Last year they had Prince Pucklers ice cream. I don't know if they do this year or not, as I didn't think to check, but I know they are a sponsor. Last night my husband had chicken strips and fries. I don't know where from, as I just send him to get anything I need. Ticket prices are not terribly expensive. I think we pay like $35 for two of us. Again, hubby takes care of that part, so I don't pay much attention to specifics. But it doesn't break the bank to go to a bunch of games. For me, it's cheap, fun, easy parking, and 5 minutes from my house. My husband and I typically make a date night out of it, going out to dinner and then taking in a game. Tickets are rarely sold out, so we can spontaneously decide to see a game here and there too. We've been going to games for a couple years now and will absolutely continue going to.

PK Park is the stadium (still being) built for the University of Oregon Duck baseball team. Nestled right up against Autzen Stadium, (http://www.yelp.com/biz/autzen-stadium-eugene) they opened this year (against Fresno) state and played their first game in decades. Took the kids a on a Friday afternoon a couple weeks ago and had an enjoyable afternoon. Good view of the field from all sides and amenities (food) near by. The PK stands for Pat Kilkenny, the athletic director for UofO. Although the WA Huskies annihilated the Ducks, the players were cheerful and patient signing autographs for each and every autograph hunter waiting for them. I wish them future success and hope that a new baseball dynasty is formed!

My wife got some tickets to an Em's game last week. All four of us headed over to watch the game. PK Park is a really nice facility. Civic stadium was getting ran down, I'm sure the players were happy with this new move. The seating is plentiful, food and drinks are priced as you would expect at a ball game. I loved how at certain times if the batter from the other team struck out, then they did $3 micro's for 15 minutes. You should've seen all the guys flying up the isles to refill their cups!! The score board is well lit and you can see it from everywhere. The seats are back far enough so that when someone needs to get by, you can stand up against your chair, and there's enough room to pass, which is cool. Keep in mind the net is up to stop those wild foul tips, but they wont protect you from a pop fly. I heard a couple talking about how they loved the safety of the net, then 10 minutes later a pop fly dropped about 15 feet away from them. They didn't see that coming. Just a heads up! We had a great time, and I loved this place!

    I love Sluggo!

OK, there is a possibility that I could be strung up for saying "good riddens Civic Stadium". Yes, it was a landmark and I truly appreciate the history. With that being said, it was a terrible place to watch a baseball game. The bleachers were uncomfortable, the bathrooms were disgusting and all in all, it was just old. PK Park, on the other hand, rocks! I have seen the Ems play several times and watched the Ducks too. The park is beautiful and even the GA seating are nice. The available food is good and the service is great. I love it here and I'm sure I will be to many more games in the future. Plus, I love Sluggo! He rocks!

After reading online that they were giving away Steve Prefontaine bobbleheads at the Emeralds game, we knew we had to get tickets. Although baseball isn't really my thing, the bobblehead, beer and atmosphere kept me thoroughly entertained. + Nice, clean facilities + Local beer (Ninkasi and Oakshire) + Happy 3/4 hour from 6-6:45 ($2 sodas and $3 or $6.50 beer) + Franz was handing out free loaves of their new bread at the conclusion of the game. Score! All in all, a trip to PK Park for the Ems game was a great way to spend a Saturday night!

PK Park is so much more chill compared to Autzen! While it is a significantly smaller venue, I think that's part of why I like it so much. Since PK Park can only house around 4,000 people as opposed to Autzen's 50,000, it is a much more relaxed atmosphere and you don't feel like you're being suffocated by people. Security seems to be much more lax here, and from the two games I've gone to here so far, I haven't had to wait in line outside the park for nearly as long as I would at Autzen to get inside. The park is clean, and you get a good view of the field from any seat in the house. I like that for the GA section, seating isn't assigned, so you can decide where within the section you want to sit. I got to sit in the front row behind the dugout each time I came here, and it was a great experience. The food vendors have all your typical baseball food: peanuts, cotton candy, hot dogs, ice cream, nachos, popcorn, pretzels, etc., and pricing is a little steep but not outrageous like MLB pricing. They also have a vegetarian meat option for their grand slam nachos, which I can appreciate. Also, if you're obsessed with the elusive Oregon Duck like I am, it's much easier to snap a picture with him here than it is at Autzen! Oh and the baseball team is pretty fun to watch too. I only wish I had started coming to their games sooner!

Last nights firework show was amazing. I just wish they had more food options and maybe a couple more carts because the lines to get food when you're hungry are crazy. It won't stop me from coming here it would just be nice on sold-out games if there were more people working concessions =)

    Big bear & us :-)

Bring cash vendors don't take visa. Also bring someone with you, like friends, buddy, spouse, kids, or family and have a ball game out of it. Don't forget to bring extra, extra cash too.

It rivaled the Bean courts and Underbridge as the place to play in town outside. Those who play here simply call it U.P. All the highschool and college players would come down here to play on the modest court that was small enough to run 4 on 4 fullcourt. Halfcourt shots were well within range of some of the guys who filled it up regularly. The wait could be long and would stretch as deep as six games on a good afternoon. But half the fun was hanging out with all the other ballers and watch the sunbathers out in the grass. Sadly, the old wood backboard is gone, replaced sometime in the early 2000's by a ridiculous single stantion, double rimmed metal behemoth. The games aren't as good anymore but you can still catch a game here if you're lucky. Usually just some out of town UO kids or nostalgic South cats. Good luck, and keep running those games.

They have a playground for kids, basket ball court, large grass area with picnic tables, bathrooms and a baseball field. I always see many different types and ages of people enjoying outdoor activities here and it's located close to Sundance in case you need to grab a snack. There are trees to sit under on hot days and plenty of grass to lay out on. The bathrooms always surprise me that they don't have doors on the stalls! That's definitely something I've had to get used to living in Eugene because I've noticed this as multiple parks. This park is accessible by bus and has a bus stop very close to it. People do a good job of keeping this Park clean and I hope it stays that way. I'm pretty sure some events go on here during the summer but not positive which ones.

My issue was with the amenities for us bleacher fans. The sound system is horrible. I could not hear anything, as the speakers have not been updated. The concessions are a joke. We are not allowed to use the concessions in the reserved seat area. We are relegated to hot dogs, peanuts, terrible nachos and a few options for candy. Of course the beer choices were there, but the line for food was ridiculously long. You can not see any of the scoreboard from these seats. Close the gaps in the seat area as we dropped items twice and were told we couldn't retrieve them until the Manager did it. C'mon!! And there is no water refill station in the bleacher area. Why? It's hot, we need to drink water. It is time to also enlarge the stadium. I heard this often by other people in the seats. Record crowds were prevalent the entire four days, yet when I was home later in the evening, I saw LSU play in an updated stadium that was huge. OSU has had considerable success for many years, and it is time for the university to step up and do something to allow more people to watch the games within a more updated scenario. At least the games were phenomenal. Go Beavs.

They spent most of their years at Civic Stadium in Eugene before moving to their current location, PK Park, which is actually a University of Oregon facility for their baseball team. I remember going to games with my mom when I was young, when her workplace was doing a whiffle ball promotion with the team. And they have some fun promos nowadays too; we went to "Take Meow't to the Ballgame", where Pete the Cat was there and attendees were invited to bring their cats as well. We saw two cats... I'm not sure they were excited to be there, but I appreciate the out of the box thinking! Their official mascot is a Sasquatch, which is a fun nod to the legend in the Pacific Northwest. They also debuted an identity which they use occasionally called Monarcas de Eugene. Their Monarcas uniforms are gorgeous! I know that there was some talk about the Ems needing a stadium of their own (not as guests of the UO), which didn't pan out, and they've said they're going to move elsewhere. I'm not sure if that was the final word on relocation or if maybe they've backed off it a bit. I'd like the Ems to stay because it's good for Eugene. They do need to work on their merch, though. We went recently to the game and they one toddler shirt and a onesie, and everything else was a kid's small or larger. I wish they had more of their Monarcas identity in merch (I don't want a jersey; I want an everyday t-shirt) or the Exploding Whales (especially for kids!).

I'm recovering from an injury and currently have an ADA placard for parking. My parking space was located steps away from the front gate, and the elevator was only a few steps away from the gate! I couldn't be happier with this facility's accomodations for those with mobility issues. My first visit was for a Savannah Banana's game (Bananas against the Party Animals) and we weren't sure whether the weather would cooperate. I was pleased to discover the pregame activities were held in a gigantic fully-enclosed arena next door to the stadium, which had a large jumbotron, restrooms, water fountains, and every other comfort one would need. This place is massive in scale, and I never felt claustrophobic or overwhelmed in any way. There is a long ramp that encircles the stadium, a giant staircase, as well as ADA elevators to access the stadium. Even though this place accomodates 60,000 people, you wouldn't know it because the layout enables many people to enter and exit at once. There are bench seats in the stadium, with the option to rent cushioned seats and backrests near the points of entry. With two giant jumbotrons, there didn't really seem to be a bad seat in the house. We had a wonderful time! (And the Bananas won!)

"It never rains...in Autzen Stadium!" - Don Essig, longtime Autzen PA announcer…read more Well, yeah, sure. But also, surrrrrre, Don. But who really cares? You're in Oregon, where the climate has its own ideas on where and when things will change. You're just off campus of the University of Oregon, across the Willamette (highly recommend the bridge walk, it's a tradition), and you're going to be a part of a crowd of ~60,000. And while that is far less than some other venues, these crowds get throaty and LOUD, especially when the Ducks have the opponents pinned deep in their own end. Also, that's when the rain is a big help, because fumbles happen. The steps on the south end take you right under the big O, letting you know just who calls this place home. If you're so inclined, then you can walk the ramps up the east or west sides, too, so those who might need accessibility or just people who hate stairs can be accommodated. The concourses are pretty wide, though when concessions lines are long, the concourses are still cramped. Restrooms are plenty and have LOTS of facilities, so you *might* even be able to make a comfort stop during a commercial break. But if you miss the action and the crowd roars, then the restrooms are quite the echo chamber. Autzen has had a gazillion magic moments, the Duck ALWAYS entertains, and it's fairly visiting-fan friendly, as long as yer not OSU. This is also the venue for the main graduation ceremony, stuffing the south stands with family & friends to celebrate their Ducks' academic accomplishments. So while Kenny Wheaton's '94 'pick six' or the 32-31 barnburner against Ohio State in '24 are hallowed memories here, so too are those school-related festivities, not just sportsball. And yes, I'm biased because my Duck walked here. Parking isn't easy, and traffic gets managed along MLK Jr Way, but that's where the bridge walk helps. If you need merch or the latest in UO garb, then the Duck Store might have something for all ages. Hey, even the Grateful Dead played here TEN times, so you know almost anyone could call this a special place. Come early. Wear green. Be LOUD.
