People were very friendly and out to have a really good time, what a great crowd. We were lucky to have such a nice day too as the weather called for thunder storms. I'm pleased to share that almost every craft brewery from longguyland was there, and even one or two I've never heard of before (Po'boy brewery, who ARE you, really?). I started taking pictures of everything I enjoyed because after 10 or so of those tastes, the mind starts getting a little fuzzy. I couldn't find any wine tastings, unlike the previous years. Still - totally OK with me there was PLENTY of unusual beers and ciders to enjoy. In regard to the food ...... what ....happened? Not unlike everyone else, I was peeved about the eats. Previously, you'd get a ticket included in the price of admission to score some BBQ. This year, they only had 4 food trucks for noshes. FOUR. To feed, I don't know well over 1,000 people? Yikes. It's completely inefficient to make one order at a time when 25-40 people are waiting on each line. I spent 35+ mins roasting in the sun, then another 20 parking my sweaty self down in the shade to consume my much awaited prize. Almost an hour of a 3.5 hour event was lost just to grab half a meal. Make no mistake, the chicken sliders from the sweet buns truck were good, but paired with the lackluster overpriced parmesan truffle fries ($7), and the wait, I should have just brought a couple of KIND bars to stuff in my face instead. Leaving was a sheet show. Literally. We saw a girl dropping off some brown babies next to a car in FULL view of the road. Listen lady, at least go in the bushes or hide behind the car door to do your business. No one wanted to see that. Traffic wasn't super well orchestrated out of the place either. The security and staff were trying, but it was going slooooow. There wasonly one egress and a buncha' crazies in their cars so I was glad we all rented a short bus. I'd go again, but the organizers really need to up their game next year.

Bland, greasy, and WAY overpriced. The spiral chips/potatoes on a stick were CRAZY overpriced. Seriously, $5 for one fried potato, while a 10-lb bag sells for $4? Highway robbery. Also, I'd gotten the same fried potatoes in Prague for 50 cents. Fifty CZECH cents. This overpricing seemed to be the theme for the majority of vendors and food trucks. Honestly, if I'd paid full price for a ticket and found nearly NO samples and all expensive food, I'd have been pissed. Super disappointed.

One special discovery during this event was Masterchef Johndavid Hensley of CJ's American Grill....a restaurant sponsoring and contributing to the event...Chef Hensley was a judge of the Potato Salad contest that showed an incredible amount of grace and enthusiasm that made everyone feel like a winner.His charm created a standing ovation and applause for a humorous mash potato eating contest that reminded me of a Coney Island Hotdog tradition.... All in all, a terrific day of fun that there should be more of on the North Fork...

I've always been skeptical with the response and the quality of this event due to feedback I've received in the past, but I was happy to be a part of it. My favorites were what Alexis had recommended, the caramel fudge from Chocology as well as the Grilled cheese from Cest Cheese. Nicely done guys!!! It was great to see such a fantastic display of wines which were partnered with Rich Mora from Mora's wines - most of the wines were very heavily distributed wines IMO, but there were some gems for folks to enjoy. It was especially nice to see some NoFo wineries being represented as well, Raphael, as an example, who's latest Cab Franc ('13?) was quite nice while walking around. There are a few issues with this place. Before you go consider the following:…read more 1 - They charge you 10 bucks just to get in. And that's it, you get NOTHING extra except to be allowed to enter. You are literally giving them $10 for the privilege of spending large sums of money inside. Doesn't even get you discounts. 2 - No shade. The only place with shade is by the main eating area. But that tends to be full most of the time, and it's only for eating. We did find shaded seating in the eating area, but expect to do a bit of searching. 3 - No additional seating. The only place they provide to sit is the eating tent (see #2). You should bring lawn chairs if you wish to sit somewhere else. 4 - Expensive food. I would think that these festivals would provide some time of price break since you are supposed to be tasting everything. Wrong 5 - Cash only. Many NON FOOD vendors offer the option of visa and MasterCard. Unfortunately NO food vendor does....very annoying. But guess what? They instantly point you to their "convenient" ATM machines which charge you $5 per transaction just for the access of your own money. 6 - Not as much seafood as you may think. I only noticed 2 vendors selling seafood, but most vendors aren't even selling food at all. It's more of a flea market that also has a bit of seafood. We had a lobster roll and it was delicious. The CLAW restaurant area was pretty good, but the prices look to be the same as if you went to their restaurant which is open all year long and DOES NOT charge you $10 just to come inside. I recommend you just skip the festival and go directly to their restaurant instead. The only way I would come back is if someone paid for the entrance fee on my behalf. And if I were to enjoy the music, there was a band playing a lot of familiar songs. And if you want to come just to enjoy the music, I suppose maybe that's worth the $10. But personally, I was there for the food. And parking is horrible. Try to get dropped off by someone, then picked up again.

They space out the crowds - 7pm, 7:30, etc.... You go in the mansion to all 3 floors. They jump out at you! And scream at you! The Exorcist scene, the "twins" from the Shining, a guy with a chainsaw chasing you. It continues outside on the grounds. Warning - do not go if you have a walker, a cane, or a "boot"!!!!! Narrow stairs, and you are walking outside in semi darkness on uneven ground. Warning - it might be a bit much for 10 year olds. It takes about 30 - 45 minutes to go through the whole thing. There are t-shirts on sale and Mr. Softee on the grounds. The decorations! The effects! The costumes!

I bought some honey from Bee Witched Bee, because I'm obsessed with honey and loved that it was locally harvested. They came in these cute little jars. They make lip balm, candles, etc, as well. Oakneck Design is a great new small business that can create anything from small wood ornaments to larger pieces like coffee tables. I had a custom wood and epoxy piece made for my bf and loved the outcome. I attached the photos of the custom piece in the end. Brian, the owner of Oakneck Design, loves making custom pieces so let your imagination run wild. If you are interested in more of his work he is on Etsy and Instagram!

Who knew yoga and goats are the perfect combination. This was my first yoga class and the goats…read morehelped make it an enjoyable experience. Our instructor was terrific and was able to focus on the class with the added distraction of goats running around and some Yogi's only there for the libations. Thanks to our instructor I was able to follow her instructions and keep up with the class, not bad for a newbie. The goats were cool and did not get in our way most of the time. The goat handlers did a great job preparing the goats and handing out food to us to feed the goats. There were a couple of accidents but the poop easily rolls off the yoga mats. Thanks to Drew for setting up this complicated event. This event had the added bonus of proceeds going to charity.

I'm honestly not into yoga, but I'm ten times more likely to do something if it involves cute…read moreanimals, hence my attendance today. My favorite moment was when the goats were first released. Nothing like a bunch of cuties running towards you. They were so friendly and adorable, and very chill about being pet. As much as I'm not a yogi, the class from Cocomotion was fairly easy to follow, and the instructor was extraordinarily knowledgeable and patient. I liked that she brought an upbeat playlist that included some pop music. Made it much more fun to follow. The biscuits from Main Road Biscuit Co. were incredible, as is everything they make. The honey butter and peach jam took them above and beyond. The LIV distillery was a bit of a let down for me today. They didn't seem too thrilled to have us there- the bartenders were extremely unfriendly. I've had pleasant experiences here before, so was really shocked at the shift in hospitality. Additionally, the Bloody Marys were eh. Long Island Spirits makes an amazing Bourbon, so I'd been hoping for a drink option involving that. Overall, super cool event. I laughed all morning, which was much needed. I pet lots of goats. And I got a sweet Yelp swag bag. What more could you ask for?

My friend's…read moreHusband decided to check it out while we were finished with dinner at Mangia Mangia since the address showed it was just a few doors down. A couple of minutes later he came back and couldn't find it. So, off we go in search for this Gum Wall that the kids were so anxiously awaiting to see. Me too but I definitely wasn't going to admit THAT!! We go into the Patchogue Theatre of Performing Arts which was directly next to the restaurant. We spotted a sign about the Gum Wall outside of this Theatre but nobody there seemed to know what I was talking about. I asked three people and they never heard of it. I went outside again to read this poster making sure it did exist and it obviously did. Well, two other children at this point caught on to what we were trying to find and somehow convinced their parents to find it too because now the thirteen of us were walking up and down the street looking for this stupid wall. At last, we found it. A little alley right next to the Congregational Church. Very big problem, we forgot the gum. These two stranger children and their parents were now running towards this Gum Wall and our kids are now starting to get hysterical. Thank G-d my friend's Husband spotted a convenience store across the street and we are now all starting to run towards this wall, our kids screaming with excitement. We were actually standing there for a while deciding what shape to make our piece of "Art". Our kids were so amazed that we were actually letting them do this and even more amazed when they watched us doing the same thing!! It was very interesting to see what everyone was going to put up there and of course my perverted friend had to make hers stand out. It was a lot of fun and a chance to be a kid again if only for 5 minutes. Again, a very big "Thank You" to Robert L. and a "Must See", if anything, just to view my Friend's "creation" (if it's still up there when you go)!!

This fine example of public art and literal "Local Flavor" predates the recent restoration of the…read morePatchogue Theatre for Performing Arts, and to present, its tradition has survived the Village's gentrification process, despite periodically having been scraped off. It is located in the alley to the east of the Theatre, which runs between the Municipal parking lot and East Main Street. The "Already Been Chewed" Gum Wall (see pics) is an ever-changing and growing artistic work that both demands attention and inspires community participation and collaboration.
