I've always been skeptical with the response and the quality of this event due to feedback I've received in the past, but I was happy to be a part of it. My favorites were what Alexis had recommended, the caramel fudge from Chocology as well as the Grilled cheese from Cest Cheese. Nicely done guys!!! It was great to see such a fantastic display of wines which were partnered with Rich Mora from Mora's wines - most of the wines were very heavily distributed wines IMO, but there were some gems for folks to enjoy. It was especially nice to see some NoFo wineries being represented as well, Raphael, as an example, who's latest Cab Franc ('13?) was quite nice while walking around. Since I read there would be walking & riddles to be solved. And the older fam aren't too fond of the unknown & puzzle solving LOL. The ones that responded decided as a group to do the Cupcake Conundrum in Patchogue. What a great way to explore the different shops on Main St. I don't wanna give too much away because that's where the fun is. Solving the clues & finding the next spot. We got to try Locale where we dined on Mussels in wine sauce & a Margherita Pizza. Both were delicious! That's where we got our first clue. Then there was The Paper Doll Curiosity Shoppe which we all loved and Todd was so friendly & such a pleasure to talk with. Fun stuff in the store. Like the funky glasses with mustaches that we received & wore for the rest of the day like it was normal. We were stopped several times by curious onlookers who wanted to know about the glasses. We proudly told them "We're Food Detectives!!" LOL Several wonderful restaurants including 2 desserts. All of the food was delicious & enjoyable. We went for our anniversary and had a delicious meal served by efficient and engaging waitresses. We ordered too much because it all sounded so good in the Yelp reviews, but we'll get to enjoy the leftovers tomorrow. Started out with the tapenade and a generous amount of Italian bread (extra bread was brought when we ran out), then tried the very tasty seasonal burrata with peaches appetizer for me and baked clams for my husband. (That was the only part of the meal that disappointed him a bit--I think he'll be more adventurous the next time we go. The clams were fine but not especially notable.) For the primi course, we shared the smaller-sized order of orechiette with sausage and pesto--delicious and plenty for us. We actually could have happily stopped at that point and ordered dessert, but we had already committed to a main course and were glad we did. My halibut was delicious (with crunchy, perfectly cooked green beans along with potatoes and mushrooms), and he really liked his chicken Milanese. The grand finale was the delicious black and white creme brulee--perfectly torched on top to caramelize the sugar, delicious vanilla and chocolate underneath. The service was outstanding. Everything came at exactly the right time so that a four-course dinner took only an hour and a half. We will definitely be back!

Located just outside of Stony Brook University so it's great for students coming from western towns. Hours are 5 AM TO 6 PM, but ticket vending machines are available just outside the building. Building is heated so it's warm in the winter and good bathroom facilities. Here's the bad .... seats are wood and not comfortable at all. But the biggest problem is there are homeless people living here so if you arrive early you'll find them sleeping on the benches. Something should be done about this because especially woman are intimidated by them. I've noticed some would rather stand in the cold than to be subjected to them. LIRR address this.
