I've always been skeptical with the response and the quality of this event due to feedback I've received in the past, but I was happy to be a part of it. My favorites were what Alexis had recommended, the caramel fudge from Chocology as well as the Grilled cheese from Cest Cheese. Nicely done guys!!! It was great to see such a fantastic display of wines which were partnered with Rich Mora from Mora's wines - most of the wines were very heavily distributed wines IMO, but there were some gems for folks to enjoy. It was especially nice to see some NoFo wineries being represented as well, Raphael, as an example, who's latest Cab Franc ('13?) was quite nice while walking around. The ones that responded decided as a group to do the Cupcake Conundrum in Patchogue. What a great way to explore the different shops on Main St. I don't wanna give too much away because that's where the fun is. Solving the clues & finding the next spot. We got to try Locale where we dined on Mussels in wine sauce & a Margherita Pizza. Both were delicious! That's where we got our first clue. Then there was The Paper Doll Curiosity Shoppe which we all loved and Todd was so friendly & such a pleasure to talk with. Fun stuff in the store. Like the funky glasses with mustaches that we received & wore for the rest of the day like it was normal. We were stopped several times by curious onlookers who wanted to know about the glasses. We proudly told them "We're Food Detectives!!" LOL Several wonderful restaurants including 2 desserts. All of the food was delicious & enjoyable. For entrees we had the Pork Chop with Sweet Potato & Bacon Hash, Red Pepper Sauce - on side and the Fluke with Borlotti Beans, Winter Vegetable Ragu & Parmesan Brodo. Both excellent scrumptious dishes. For dessert we had the Flourless Almond Chocolate Cake & Vanilla Gelato and the Black & White Creme Brûlée. Located just outside of Stony Brook University so it's great for students coming from western towns. Hours are 5 AM TO 6 PM, but ticket vending machines are available just outside the building. Building is heated so it's warm in the winter and good bathroom facilities. Here's the bad .... seats are wood and not comfortable at all. But the biggest problem is there are homeless people living here so if you arrive early you'll find them sleeping on the benches. Something should be done about this because especially woman are intimidated by them. I've noticed some would rather stand in the cold than to be subjected to them. LIRR address this.

Our waitress came over to ask about drinks then the busboy arrived with warm garlic knots and focaccia, both were very good. We ordered the gluten free fried zucchini, which I have to say I liked better then most other versions I've had. It seems they have an extensive menu of gluten free options which my friend appreciated very much. I got the Pollo Florendena which is two large chicken cutlets breaded and fried with spinach & mozzarella in a brown gravy served with vegg (string beans) and a small potato croquette. The chicken was tender, the gravy tasty and the beans not over cooked. The potato was meh. I took home most of my dinner. One friend ordered the Tortellini Aligherieri but substituted GF pasta, she enjoyed it very much. The other person ordered Vitello Saltimbocca which is veal with prosciutto, eggplant and mozz in a marsala sauce. It usually comes with veg & pot but she substituted penna in a garlic oil sauce which was very good. We had no room for dessert but there were many selections and one day I'll try. All in all a very nice meal, the restaurant has no issue making substitution, the portions are very large and prices were reasonable. The place was packed when we left at around 6:30 and I can understand why.
