A couple of minutes later he came back and couldn't find it. So, off we go in search for this Gum Wall that the kids were so anxiously awaiting to see. Me too but I definitely wasn't going to admit THAT!! We go into the Patchogue Theatre of Performing Arts which was directly next to the restaurant. We spotted a sign about the Gum Wall outside of this Theatre but nobody there seemed to know what I was talking about. I asked three people and they never heard of it. I went outside again to read this poster making sure it did exist and it obviously did. Well, two other children at this point caught on to what we were trying to find and somehow convinced their parents to find it too because now the thirteen of us were walking up and down the street looking for this stupid wall. At last, we found it. A little alley right next to the Congregational Church. Very big problem, we forgot the gum. These two stranger children and their parents were now running towards this Gum Wall and our kids are now starting to get hysterical. Thank G-d my friend's Husband spotted a convenience store across the street and we are now all starting to run towards this wall, our kids screaming with excitement. We were actually standing there for a while deciding what shape to make our piece of "Art". Our kids were so amazed that we were actually letting them do this and even more amazed when they watched us doing the same thing!! It was very interesting to see what everyone was going to put up there and of course my perverted friend had to make hers stand out. It was a lot of fun and a chance to be a kid again if only for 5 minutes. Again, a very big "Thank You" to Robert L. and a "Must See", if anything, just to view my Friend's "creation" (if it's still up there when you go)!!

It is located in the alley to the east of the Theatre, which runs between the Municipal parking lot and East Main Street. The "Already Been Chewed" Gum Wall (see pics) is an ever-changing and growing artistic work that both demands attention and inspires community participation and collaboration.

But that's the least of my concerns with these things. Look: They are out of a bad 70's flashback. Big, blocky white plastic eye-sores with the word "Patchogue" on them...in case you forget where you are I guess. Terrible. But hey, I'm no fashion maven so maybe this is hip and I'm just square. Comfort: None whatsoever. Just try leaning back on these monstrosities. Too bad one of these benches isn't located in front of a chiropractor. It has this weird lip that digs into your back nicely, as the seat digs into your legs. Functionality: Eh, OK I guess. As I sat on this bench, I had to keep pulling my legs in whenever pedestrians walked past. It's kinda tight since for some weird reason it's facing the storefronts. If a group of kids on bikes comes down the street, as happened to me, just pull your legs all the way up. If not, you might lose them. This isn't that conducive to relaxation. I'm giving this bench/benches 2 stars rather than just 1 because they ARE benches. Everyone likes a bench.

Interesting. I'd say patchogue is better in the fall when these crowds die down but I do enjoy getting to see and meet all the new people AA5 has brought. Parking is a nightmare and I'm not telling any of you my secrets. Good luck. Honestly a street festival is a street festival and the crowds are a love/hate relationship; businesses make bank but deal with a lot of BS, a lot of towns are modeling themselves after patchogue and this party. The melting pot of patchogue wannabe hippies, fist pumping meatheads, punk kids, selfie skanks, young and old alike seem to get along for the most part. There have been issues but that doesn't take a festival, there's always a bad apple. It's always fun to let loose now and again; on a nice night this place can be fun. It can also get old but there's a reason people travel from all over this island just to gather together and check it out. It's family friendly at first and then you. Enter hide your wife and hide your kids... it's downright unruly, drunken zombies like me are everywhere. Be careful and lighten up, you'll have a decent time. If it's not your thing... maybe stay home?

Since I read there would be walking & riddles to be solved. And the older fam aren't too fond of the unknown & puzzle solving LOL. The ones that responded decided as a group to do the Cupcake Conundrum in Patchogue. What a great way to explore the different shops on Main St. I don't wanna give too much away because that's where the fun is. Solving the clues & finding the next spot. We got to try Locale where we dined on Mussels in wine sauce & a Margherita Pizza. Both were delicious! That's where we got our first clue. Then there was The Paper Doll Curiosity Shoppe which we all loved and Todd was so friendly & such a pleasure to talk with. Fun stuff in the store. Like the funky glasses with mustaches that we received & wore for the rest of the day like it was normal. We were stopped several times by curious onlookers who wanted to know about the glasses. We proudly told them "We're Food Detectives!!" LOL Several wonderful restaurants including 2 desserts. All of the food was delicious & enjoyable. As an 100% Italian, whose grandparents were born in Italy, I am pretty critical on this dish. I will say this; all restaurants these days portray this as a soup. It really isn't. It's more of a thick stew. However, I'm trying to get used to this concept. Locale does the new version of this as good as you could possibly do it. The flavor is actually authentic to the way my grandmother used to make it. It's just thinner. I'm sure a lot of you have never had this any other way, so it won't be a big deal. That being said I 100% recommend it. As referenced in my early review, I had Nonna's meatball as well. This is a 100% authentic delicious Italian meatball. My opinion is unfettered. This is a fantastic Italian restaurant and you guys should all check it out.
