Even if this incident is considered a fluke, the reality is that I am still the one left dealing with the loss. It was disappointing to see that there does not appear to be a better system in place to monitor belongings when one person exits the van to retrieve luggage before another rider. That gap in procedure leaves customers vulnerable. Lost and found reported that an empty blue suitcase was turned in, so not much to be done anymore. Ultimately this is again my loss to suffer, I paid money for a service that cost me more than if I would have just parked at the airport to be honest.
