Read the drama this has caused other reviewers. - Perhaps the tiniest paid parking spaces I have seen in the bay area. If adjacent spots are full, you will either (1) get dirty as you are squeezed against your or your neighbor's car here or (2) damage your car parking here. Even worse, it's not just the architect that is to blame. The line painting in this garage encourages parking in ways that make it near impossible to exit your car once you park it. Anyway, I'd recommend people use this garage in about 10-20 years, once the existing painted lines fade and can be repainted with some non-idiotically painted lines. read more

Don't park here! A cashier tried to pull a bait and switch. I came in before 10am for $6 all day early bird parking. When I was leaving a little after 6pm, the cashier took my ticket and submitted it in his machine and $6 appeared, but within seconds the price changed to $10. He said I had to pay the special event price for after 6pm, but my ticket indicated I had entered during early bird timeframe. I had to pull over and walk to look for a manager to complain. The person on duty recognized I come in early daily and let me out at $6. Long story short.....beware!!!! Shady employees!! read more

Having recently parked at this garage a couple times I've surprisingly found it to be fairly nice. Each time we easily found a spot and both trips were validated at a shop in the vicinity so it cost us nothing beyond walking up and down the stairs. I'm fairly sensitive to that sort of thing and I didn't notice any lighting or smell issues. The stairs are always partially outside, so if anything, the fresh air is a nice change from creepy dark and smelly boxes I usually see in parking garages. I like this garage a lot better than the one near the convention center. It's easier to navigate and overall, less walking to extract yourself from it. All in all, I'll continue enjoying parking here in the future. read more

convenient place to park in downtown sj as it is very central and close to all restaurants and local businesses. it is an underground garage, which makes it an ideal place to park in the summertime or on a hot day when you don't want to return to your car and feel like you're sitting in a sauna. the parking spaces had a reasonably adequate width, not super narrow like some other parking garages/lots. my friends and i were here on a saturday, where the cost was a flat $6 for all day parking...not bad for a parking structure. normally, it is $2 per hour on the weekdays, but i didn't catch what the maximum rate was. since safeway is directly upstairs, you can have your parking ticket validated upon purchase and park for free. many nearby restaurants will also validate your ticket, up to 2 hours, i'm told. although we had dined at a nearby restaurant, we were unfortunately given an expired validation ticket and therefore ended up paying the $6 for parking. i kinda wish we were able to pay just the $2 per hour weekday rate b/c it would have only been $4 for the 1 1/2 hours we parked (rounded up to 2 hours for a total of $4). oh well....not our day. read more

Had to utilize this parking lot since I had an event to go to at the Tech Museum. Clean, well lit, and easy access to the street. The stairs took me up to street level next to Johnny Rockets and from there, I was able to walk past the Fairmont and then to museum. The rates are very reasonable, compared to SF, and the clerk was very nice. When I did not have enough smaller bills for my $6 fare (only had a $50) he smiled and said it was okay and gave me $44 dollars (with $3 in quarters) despite a sign posted on the booth stating no bills larger than $20. COUNT YOUR CASH!!!! I never write reviews but I wouldn't want anyone else to go through this. Just parked here to grab some milk tea and of course worst experience ever. My parking cost two dollars. Gave the guy with glasses 20 bucks and he straight up gave me 14 dollars back all folded up. Made my bf stop the car to literally walk back and get my cash. Took me three times to explain to him and he acted like nothing....count your cash people this guy is trying to keep cash for himself. read more

This used to be the garage for AboveNet co-location but now that they're no longer there it's a great little underground lot that almost always has space even though it's not that big. It's also underground so it's out of the eye of most people driving downtown. read more

I can't believe I'm saying this but when it comes to parking garages, this place is clutch. Not THAT many people know about it, so it's never usually full. But then again, there was that one time... Anyway, the one thing I hate about this place is when it's around 2am (say if you're walking back from the clubs or something), they lock the doors leading down to the garage. So there's no other way in except through the main car entrance. LAME. But there are other garages I prefer parking at in the name of convenience. Parking here makes it easier get to certain places downtown. read more

Scored with parking on Saturday, even though my double feature at Camera 12 let out after 6pm, and arrived at 2pm, they gave me a validation tix for the parking so I didn't have to pay. Parking was packed at 1:30pm on Sat. I think many from the gym use it. Had to drive around a bit. Only one level of parking. read more

SCAM AND RIP OFF ALERT! A like other people mentioned in their reviews the owner is a scammer. I was there for 20minutes and upon leaving I was being charged a rate of 2 days. Owner was notified and did not care one bit said their machine must have messed up but never the less I still had to pay the rate of 2 days to leave the garage. How do they sleep at night? read more

This still is the garage for AboveNet (now called Datapipe - apparenty the winning entry in the 'worst possible name for a colo' contest) but they also allow public parking. Unfortunately, parking is now hard to find and many spaces are blocked by folks being unable to park within a single space. i had a terrible experience here. I have been along time user of this garage when I go out to dinner in downtown, which is often. I often use the garage for work as well. Today, I used a mccormick and schmick's validation, which is accepted here, and I was told that it wasn't accepted for the after 6pm rate. So I had to pay the $5 flat rate although I had validation. The man taking the fees told me I could only use it for their hourly rate. I had been there 3 hrs and had a 2 hr validation, so I still had to pay $5. I explained this was ridiculous since it is a flat $5 after 6.... nope, he still made me pay. I am alerting mccormick and schmick to this issue as well. DO NOT USE THIS GARAGE AFTER 6pm if you intend to validate!!!! Use ANY other garage in downtown. read more

Hubby and I were kind of hesitant going into this garage because we weren't sure it was the one we wanted (with theater validation), but the guy in the booth hurried us in. When we got to the theater and were told we wanted the next garage over, we went back to swap, and the guy was extremely rude and adamant that we had to pay full evening rate for less than 10 minutes in and out. read more

A garage that actually has a spot - what a concept! They almost always seems to have a spot available, unless it is a evening where there is a festival, concert and theater simultaneously occurring. The attendant leaves around 10PM due to security issues so be cautious later in the evening. read more

Maximum charge is $15 if you're staying downtown for most of the day. Sheer surprise when pulling to the booth today to pay and the attendant gives me the $20 back and say "free today. Holiday. Martin Luther King today". Wow! Topped off a good 1/2 day in San Jose. read more

If I could I would give this place zero stars! After a great night out, I pull up to the window with my ticket and validations. He takes one and then proceeds to tell me I still owe him money. I tell him the restaurant gave me validation and he said I still have to pay CASH ONLY! Then I tell him I don't carry cash. (Which a lot of people only have credit cards or even technology like Apple Pay so having a cash only rule is ridiculous). He says without cash he won't let me leave even if it means I stay there ALL NIGHT! Then he tells me I have to go get money so I say let me make a U-turn and go get it and so he DEMANDS I give him my license. Why in the world would I give a stranger my license and leave?!? All my personal information is on it! I tell him again to just let me turn around and he says he does not have the ability to open the gate for me. Which is such a lie, just hit the button and it opens! So now he gets out of the booth and makes the person behind me reverse and tells me to reverse also. For those who don't know, this structure's exit is on a ramp that has a turn on it. So it is extremely difficult to get out. As I'm reversing, I'm about to hit the wall and I tell him that which he proceeds to SCREAM that he DOESN'T CARE! The only way I got out was the kind gentleman behind me that paid for the both of us. All I can say is that this parking garage has horrible and ridiculous rules and even worse parking staff. Not okay to make someone give up there license and be held there all night because you are a stingy and greedy human. No care for the safety of customer cars or the customer themselves. I would rather park far away from my restaurant and walk then ever deal with them again! read more

I have been parking at the pavilion garage since a few months now whenever I go to the fitness center that is in the same building. The fitness center provides me free parking validation and since this garage is right below it, it is a convenient location to park my car. And it is right in a location where it is hard to find other parking. There is a distinct smell of car exhaust fumes down in the garage one level below. This smell is strong and bothersome enough that you cannot ignore it and although you won't immediately start coughing or anything, I don't think it is good for you to breathe in those fumes. Why does this happen? Because they do not run the air circulation system that is built into the underground garages. I complained to the parking attendant and he said that the security guard forgets to start the system. Forgets to start the system every day for the past few months? I don't think so. I think they are either incompetent in their operations or just trying to save on electricity costs. Either way that is not good for people who park in the garage to breathe gases from car exhausts. I suggest they get their act together start the air circulation system every couple of hours and have a proper schedule for operating it regularly. read more

This convenient garage, located under Safeway use to be a great place to park when shopping at Safeway or other area businesses. Now the new owners only validate 50% of your time up to 1 hour to Safeway. Utter ripoff. It used to be 2 free hours with validation. read more

If I could give this place one star, I completely would. I chose to park here today because I was going ice skating and to Christmas in the Park. The flat fee was 6 dollars which I thought was great since most parking garages can charge by the hour or more. I got there at about 6 PM and came back to leave the garage at about 10 PM. I could not find my ticket (I had put it in my purse but at the moment I couldn't find it). My friends and I decided it wouldn't matter since there was a flat fee of 6 dollars. I would be more worried since if it were by the hour since the ticket would show when we got in. I get to the window to pay and I tell this man named Gazu that I could not find my ticket and he says ok. I give him my 6 dollars for the flat fee and he says no ticket? I said no. He points to where it says for a lost ticket I would have to pay 18 dollars. I found it to be ridiculous since it was a flat fee day. I was angry and told him I didn't want to pay that amount but he was like no no no. I gave him the 18 dollars and left. Literally 30 seconds later my friend finds it in my purse. I get excited because as a college student I don't want to be spending my hard earned money on something I didn't even have to pay for in the first place. I go right back to the parking spot and I tell him I found the ticket. He told me no no no you lost your ticket I cannot give you back your money. I told him that was unfair because I was literally just there. He said he didn't have the key to open the drawer(I believe he could of totally opened if he was just being very mean about the situation) and he later pointed at the camera and said see? That is my boss. I was aggravated because of the way he was handling the situation. He gave me his boss's number named Maria. He said to call later because she was sleeping. He obviously didn't care about me. I told Gazu I wasn't leaving until he gave me the money. I find it pointless to go back to get those 12 dollars when he could of given them to me there. He threatened to call the cops. I saw that there he didn't care about his garage's customers. All they care about is money. Leaving the garage I call the number he gave me. I speak to who I think is Maria explaining the situation. It turned out to be Gazu saying that the number he gave me was her office number and that I need to call from Monday-Friday. At this point I never want to come back to this garage. The way he treated me was not right. He was mean to me and obviously as I have mentioned before did not care to hear my situation. Reading a previous review, another costumer got charged 5 dollars for losing their ticket but for having a validation. I do not see this as fair because as I said TODAY WAS A FLAT FEE OF 6 DOLLARS. I will absolutely avoid this garage at all costs. I hope to speak to Maria Monday. This isn't necessarily about money anymore, it's more about being treated right. I felt as if Gazu could of taken this situation more nicely and hadn't been so hostile. read more

it's convenient when you are planning to shop or go to the stores on paseo de san antonio, the cinabar, or first street businesses like smile sushi, good karma, analog, ego mechanix, etc. the lame thing is that on weekends you have to pay $2 up front and then get your money back after validation, but once i went to see a movie and came out like at midnight and the parking attendants were gone! read more

On side of the parking garage it says flat rate parking after 6pm for $6. I waited until exactly 6pm according to my cell phone, car clock which is set via satellite & my god daughters cell phone. We drive in & pull the ticket, 5:58!! They won't charge me $1 for 2 min, right? They have to know their time stamp is wrong. Nope. "Tony" charges me $7. I explain to him that his time stamp is off by 2 minutes. I show him both of our cell phones & point to his clock & it is off by 2 min. He yells ," No, they fix it. It is right. You have to look at ticket when you come in to go by time stamp." I yell, " How am I suppose to know what is on the ticket before I pull it when you don't have a clock showing its off by 2 minutes?" I want a supervisor, of course none is available. He doesn't know the phone # of where he works, so I look it up while we are sitting there & call it. It rings in the booth. I will call "Maria" today, but doubt anything will come of it. Think of all the $1 for 1 or 2 minutes they make year round. I think I need to get Better Buisiness Buruea on this.
