My friend and I recently spent a long weekend in Seattle and did a 6 mile running tour with CRT. It was amazing. They allow you to set the length, your running pace, and any sites/special requests to have worked into your running route. We asked for an up to 6 mile tour where we stayed away from the common/tourist traps/etc and were shown things we would never find on our own. We also asked them to go above and beyond by picking a brunch spot with vegetarian options to end our tour at (they normally pick you up and drop you off at your hotel/home). They wowed on all accounts. Our tour guide, Dennis, took us to see a gum wall, a hidden waterfall, parks in obscure locations- all while keeping up a steady (this is while running, people, it's so impressive) conversation about Seattle's history and present- from mass murders, to famous events in history, art and more. So we learned a lot while getting a great work out. He also gave us a few must see spots to check out later- which enhanced our overall vacation. Most importantly, we had fun and felt like Dennis rolled with us when we were being silly and cracking lame jokes. He took lots of pictures of us (never at our request, just when he thought it would be a good spot for a shot) and sent them to us- a great service for people traveling as a twosome- hard to get shots together! As a side note, this is a company with great customer service. I had problems with the company they use to process payments and an email I sent to CRT was responded to within MINUTES. I then had a nice back and forth with the President where he asked me for honest feedback on their payment site and I felt like he truly cared that his customers have the best possible experience from start to finish. What a great way to see part of the Seattle. I was in town for a wedding and had only a short amount of time to see the city. I found City Running Tours and contacted them. Kate responded to my message promptly and talked on the phone. She scheduled the run earlier to give me more time to get to the wedding on time. She even helped me figure out how long it would take me to drive to different hotels to pick up relatives I was driving to the wedding. Kate was wonderful to run with as she pointed out buildings and the history of Seattle. When I go back to Seattle I will do the other tour. I will also do tours in other city during my travels. My wife and I had a Seattle City Running Tour on September 22 with Kate, as a beginning to our vacation. It was great! The easy run helped us get familiar with the city. After seeing some highlights of the city, we knew where to spend the rest of the day. She asked what we were interested in and showed us places that she knew we would like and her recommendations where spot on. Driving in Seattle wasn't an option for us but after the run we were able to move around the city on foot without any worry of getting lost. I did a Seattle running tour with Kate in October 2018. It was one of my favorite days of my trip there. I have always wanted to do something like this in a new city I was visiting and it really was everything I could hope for. Kate was awesome! Planning for 17 miles isn't easy, but she found some pretty neat things to see and was an excellent resource for race training as she has run multiple marathons. You could tell she put a lot of thought into it, planned carefully, and did a trial run. Also excellent pre-and-post run communication. She was very kind and helpful - I highly recommend her. I am already a fan of walking tours, particularly the ones you can find in Lonely Planet books, so when I saw an advertisement for a running tour I decided to give it a try. I am so happy I did! Dennis was my guide and he was knowledgeable and friendly. Plus, I'm not in great shape and am more of a jogger than a runner but I had no trouble keeping up with the little group on the tour. I am a local, but did the Seattle City Running Tour for fun to get a 10k in. I had a great time, and even learned a few new facts about the city. I am totally going to keep this in mind for when sporty friends come to visit, because it is so nice to not have to worry about route, learn new things, and have someone to take your picture!
