Her hand holds rainbow cranes which are also placed among her feet and the garden below her. It really is an eye-catching and beautiful sculpture and driving by you see it immediately. The area is very well maintained, which was a bit surprising after we ended up taking the park's short stairs down to 40th St (and the Wall of Death) and found there to be a full on homeless encampment blocking most of the pedestrian walking path below. Of the two installations I would skip 'Wall' and make sure to see Peace Park if you're in the area.

If you walk the whole entire park, you'll find that there is a community garden here. There was even a rooster roaming through it? That threw me off, LOL. Such a great idea, though! They've also got a small composting area with educational bits about composting. Cool park for sure! Definitely recommend stopping in even if it's just for a stroll.

Herring's House Park is a City of Seattle park in the Port of Seattle providing both paved and…read moredirt/gravel walking paths to visitors. Along the paths are grassy areas, abundant vegetation harboring many different birds, benches to sit and watch the park/Duwamish River, and picnic areas. The park immediately borders Terminal 107 Park, which is located just south of Herring's House Park, and the Duwamish River/Waterway which abuts the park's east side. I came here a couple times earlier this month, the first time a bit by accident. I was planning on going to Terminal 107 Park and did, reached some paved paths and wondered if the paths were part of the same park. Turns out they are not, the paved paths are part of Herring's House Park. But it took me a second day of adventuring here to figure that out. Each park has its own parking lot, the sign for Herring's House Park is more tucked away, something to keep in mind if driving here. The park is also easily accessible via foot or bicycle via the Duwamish Trail. Walking the trails in the morning was a treat. I saw different water birds out and fishing about. At the very northern edge of the park the West Seattle Bridge and the Space Needle are visible in the distance. Ships loaded with cargo and smaller boats made their way through the Duwamish Waterway, a fun sight to watch. I came both times in the morning when the tide was nearer low tide than hide tide and crossing the small water channel carrying water from the bog area to the Duwamish Waterway was not too dangerous. An absolutely gorgeous location on a clear day. When I drove past more recently on Wednesday the 16th of September 2020 I noticed the park was closed, so I checked it out online and the park was closed due to the hazardous air quality from the smoke of the Washington State wildfires. The park has since reopened again.

Herring's House is a great little park to walk around. It doesn't offer you any wide open vistas, or hiking trails. But it does have lots of beautiful scenery, places to picnic, and an osprey nest on site. So, if you have any pets or small children you want to dispose of, just rub a little fish oil on them and leave them near the back of the park. (Kidding!) If you're looking for an overlooked beautiful place to chill out when its warm, head here. The parking lot is right next to the entrance to the Grey Line facility.

It's totally managed by volunteers and is not run by the city of Everett. It's actually located on a small slice of land that was once the grounds of a recycled depot. The park is it's own arboretum, filled with beautiful flowers, bushes, trees, benches and a train caboose. It's a great place to visit if you are on the nearby Forgotten Trail. Definitely worth a trip.

Did I say KPP was tiny? Unlike Counter Balance Park across the street, this one is actually Green :) with a bit of grass, some trees and plants growing and covering .9 of the .9 acres. It's a nice place when urban campers aren't there to watch traffic pass by. While it's not iconic nor will it ever be a tourist attraction, it's certainly worth a nod as a you drive by it...

This park is such an adorable Seattle find!…read more It's essentially a rather large park on the side of a hill. There's several different paths that all meander up the hillside and some have a rope railing, while others are just footpaths. The view from the top is gorgeous, as are the plants and flowers that make up the space. All in all, if you're a park person and in Seattle, Streissguth Gardens is not to be missed!
