We just moved in a couple weeks ago and are very disappointed with our experience. We were nervous about a carpeted unit, but were assured repeatedly that carpets were replaced 9/10 times (unless they're in pristine condition). We get our unit and see that the entryway is completely stained and looks disgusting. We contacted management and they said no to replacement without even coming to look at the unit - clearly they don't care Beware promises of a clean carpet if you move here!! It's so embarrassing to have a giant dark stain in the entryway anytime we have guests over and brings up concerns about the cleanliness of the entire unit/complex. read more

Lived here for a year come august. Will not be renewing my lease however. Here are the pros and cons of my experience: PROS: - CUSTOMER SERVICE: They are always prompt with answering emails and phone calls even if it's after business hours they always call you back ASAP... they even have an emergency line and an officer that is on grounds for noise complaints... thankfully never had any noise problems here! - MAINTENANCE EMPLOYEES: they were always prompt to fix any issues I had in my place.... did have some issues with them however (read in cons section) - GYM: The gym is great with a variety of options and loved that I could still go there really any time I wanted during the pandemic... - ADAPTABLE: They adapted really well during COVID and had many precautions in place for gathering rules, sanitation, and so forth throughout the covid period.... of course I moved in a few months into covid happening so safety was big for me! - PET FRIENDLY: They are super accommodating with pets here, had my ESA dog here and the property manager was very understanding and easygoing with everything... they also have doggy bags EVERYWHERE around the apartment so it's super convenient! - DISCOUNTS and WEEKLY NEWSLETTERS! They always updated about what's going on within the CW community and always have pizza discount nights amongst other perks! With covid regulations loosening City Walk is bringing back their community get-together nights which is super awesome, so that's something to look forward to as a new tenant! - WRAPPING PAPER STATION: This room was awesome! They had numerous arts and crafts material year round in a separate amenities room for the tenants... come Christmas and birthdays I would always use their wrapping paper station which was SUPER helpful! CONS: - PARKING GARAGE: Ridiculous the numbers of time I have nearly been HIT BY A CAR that was speeding through the parking garage! It's a 4 level garage with very tight turns! They do note that the speed limit for drivers is only 8MPH but boy oh boy! No one cares about that! I complained about being nearly hit a few times to the front desk.... Even suggested that they add mirrors in the corners of the garage so us as drivers can see who is coming around the corner but nothing came of that suggestion by the front desk. - NEIGHBORS: the neighbors are definitely not friendly... tried to say hi every so often in the hallways and they make snarks or just stare and ignore me.... of course everyone has their preference but definitely have never lived anywhere where the neighbors are completely shut off.... of course the pandemic had a lot to do with limited interaction with others but still the common courtesy of a "hello" is not too common here! - MAINTENANCE: while I did mention in the PROs that maintenance was always prompt to things, they did NOT always knock. I would always put in my notes section that they needed to knock first before entering.... more times than not I had people come right on in..... one awkward time I was right out of the shower in my bath towel when a man entered my apartment... super freaked out! - The property is "never at fault" attitude: I had some things come up in my apartment that I would notify directly with CW about and they would more times than not make it out to be that it was my fault for the situation or that I should try x thing to fix it... for example, my roommate and I noticed that there were little bugs on the rim of the bathtub come around 6 months into the lease, told city walk about it and they blamed it on us being dirty?! - OFFICE SPACE AMENITY: so the office space area only has ONE printer which got annoying with so many people living in the apartment complex... I hope they'll at least add 1 or 2 more there. A big problem was that the printer and WiFi connection never worked so I'd have to wait extra time to get sheets of paper printed.... understood I could just go get an actual printer but I'm paying for these offered amenities that don't even work all the time. - THE BLINDS: The blinds that open to overlook the balcony are cheap plastic that hang down and every time we have to open them one of them falls off the top hook on the door and falls down.... can't count the number of time I've had maintenance come and replace x plastic blind that's fallen off YET AGAIN.... this was definitely the most annoying aspect of the appliances - COST OF RENT: overpriced for what some of the other apartments nearby offer... they are raising rent here for current tenants by 30 bucks so the one bedrooms here are sitting pretty at just over 1,500 a month... this raise in rent is NOT the reason for me moving out as the other cons have annoyed me more so but I currently am moving into a new complex for a few hundred dollars less a month that also offers a pool, fire pit, and gym amenity with a greater view of the mountains. read more

City Walk is a poorly made complex pretending to be luxury. Hopefully you don't have loud people next to you...or above you...or below you. TL;DR: my issues were a dirty and buggy apartment, noise issues, bad parking, cheap appliances, and high level of crime on the property. Don't be fooled by the pristine model home. When I got my apartment it was really dirty and beaten up. Not just grime, tons of bugs too. I normally wouldn't have accepted the apartment in that state but I had just driven 2 hours and my movers were standing behind me. I bug bombed it but the spiders came back. The pictures online conveniently leave out that there are train tracks right next to the complex. The booming and screeching of the trains echo off the buildings and rattle ceiling fans. There's a couple a week and often very late at night. Hope you like trains! City Walk not only has thin walls, they have thin floors and ceilings. It sounds like your above, below, and next door neighbors are talking in your apartment. You can track every movement of your upstairs neighbor. My neighbor above got up between 4:30am and 7am, stomping and slamming doors and cabinets, even on weekends. My neighbor below played dubstep even at 2am during the work week. My neighbors that I shared a bedroom wall with would blast their TV at night and did loud...activities. Even though I complained to the front office often and used their noise complaint line at night while it was happening, they barely spoke to my neighbors and the noise never stopped. I rarely got a full night's sleep while I lived there. City Walk had to beg people to be quiet during the pandemic, they were getting so many noise complaints with everyone at home full time. They asked us to wear headphones when playing music and buy "noise reducing exercise mats", whatever those are. I sort of feel bad for the office. They can't fix poor construction, they can only propose goofy ideas to reduce noise. My neighbors would have had to wear moon shoes and never spoken above a whisper for me to not hear them. The parking sucks. Nothing is assigned. The spots are really narrow, lots of cars have scrapped sides. I've had to climb in from the passenger side a ton of times because someone parked too close. My car got dented from someone's door my last week, I was so close to getting away without damage. There aren't enough spots out front for the people who need them and the staff park in the 4 guest spots, even on the weekend, so there's rarely one open for your guests. You felt like you couldn't leave for an errand on the weekend because you'd lose your spot and have to park in the second floor of the garage at the very end of the complex. The staff told me all about the city parking and it's rules on the nearby streets, because a good number of people can't even park on the property. Not enough parking spots. There was a lot of crime around the building: cars were broken into, bikes were stolen off the property. But it got wild during the pandemic. Residents were breaking into the amenity areas and taking things, and a car was stolen out of the supposedly secure parking garage! The gate broke at least 4 times while I lived there and would be stuck open for days, but they also admitted that people can crawl underneath the gate. Ditto to the other reviews that mention the appliances being the cheapest possible options (electric coil stoves, garbage disposals that you're told aren't supposed to put any food down). There was a ton of water damage under the kitchen sink. When I pointed it out they said "Oh it's fine, all the units have that". Also the insulation is very poor, unsurprising because it's cheap construction all around. I had drafty exterior doors and bled heat in the winter. The weirdest thing was that they tout their walk in closets, but the upper rack is hung too low for blouses. So you can really only use half of the hanging space. Oh and I had to pay an extra $50 for a second key to my unit because management does not do lockout service after hours, meaning they will not let you in if you get locked out before 9am or after 5pm or any time on Sundays. Your options are buy a second key or sleep in your car. I definitely overpaid and had a really disappointing experience. My wife and I lived in City Walk for three years (one in main building, two in exterior building 2000). We really enjoyed our time there (especially in a corner unit in building 2000), and only moved because we purchased a house. The location has to be one of the best in Cville. 5 minute walking distance to Sprint Pavilion and the Downtown Mall. Close to good restaurants like Beer Run, C&O, and all of the spots in Belmont. The two bedroom apartments are incredibly spacious, with two full bathrooms and two walk-in closets. Given the corner unit, we rarely heard our neighbors next door or above us. We also really enjoyed spending time on our balcony. The staff (both front desk and maintenance) are extremely friendly and highly responsive. They make an effort to keep the community engaged, which was always appreciated. Minor issues were always resolved quickly. The gym and pool are great amenities. The pool does get crowded on summer weekends, if moderate noise is an issue for you, I'd suggest avoiding the interior apartments in the main building. City Walk is strict on pool hours to combat this issue at night. Overall, this was a great place to live. We really enjoyed our time there. read more

There are a lot of pros and cons with City Walk... (Resident from Oct 2016 - June 2017) I'll start with the good: Staff - Super friendly... not very flexible on lease terms and policies, but super friendly. Gym - One of the best apartment gyms I've seen Pool area - Nice pool; very much designed for adults and great for sun bathing Parking garage - nice to have covered parking Common areas - Awesome Location - Super convenient for walking downtown or over to Beer Run The bad: Thin walls - I had one neighbor that liked to chant in the morning and a top neighbor with a very squeaky mattress -- (very squeaky on late Friday and Saturday nights) Pool - Beautiful but it's in the middle and my apartment faced it... sound travels so on nice summer days, it's like a millennial party area and on many nights, it's a drunken echo chamber. If you live facing the pool, you will be woken up from time to time. Parking - Four visitor spots. I mean seriously... four. There's street parking all around, but still... four visitor spots. My girlfriend hated coming to visit because parking was a pain in the ass. Overall: Decent location and as far as large apartment complexes go... not a bad place to live. I think it's overpriced and they could be a little more lax with spare keys and parking (I think a two bedroom apartment should automatically warrant a second key and parking spot -- they didn't agree). If you have young children -- I mean it's fine, but there's not a lot of kids living there. I also noticed people weren't necessarily very friendly on my floor -- I passed by fellow residents all the time and always tried to say hello and most just ignored and kept walking. Not a bad thing in any way, just don't think that the social layout and location means you'll make tons of friends that live there. It's really up to you to make that effort. read more

I intended to be at City Walk for only a year after selling my house, but ended up staying a lot longer. It's super convenient to downtown and the Woolen Mills, and a pleasant, easy place to live. While there were definitely some management issues in the "early days," they have since been addressed. The current (2021) staff is absolutely wonderful -- very friendly and helpful. Another cool thing is the variety of vibes, depending on which apartment you select. You can be in the sky with views of Monticello, in the woods listening to the buzzing of tree frogs, lazing quietly on your porch in the southern afternoon sun, or in the thick of the poolside social scene. Just make sure you consider your preferences when choosing your unit -- it really does make a difference. read more

Cautionary note to renters: be sure to be there for the final walk through. Do NOT let them do it on their own without your physical presence. You will more than likely be charged for areas that can EASILY be addressed with a Clorox wipe. Your security deposit will be deducted for silly reasons. I've rented for a few years at other places and am very familiar with the moving out conditions. This is the first place that did not return my full security deposit because of a piece of hair on the carpet. It's that ridiculous. I'm appalled. I moved about a month ago to City Walk Apartments. Although the place has a convenience location and some other conveniences, I found a serious problem in my apartment with noises coming from ventilators o electrical machinery invading from outside my apartment. Maintenance has come three times and haven't found out what's the cause of this not pleasant at all noise and don't know how to fix it. The worst is that the noise comes to a peak during the most important resting hours, at night! I don't know what I'll do since just moved from out of state to this place. read more

City Walk is located close to the downtown area and is very close to come great bars and restaurants. The units are new and the appliance are new and under warranty. That's the good, now for the bad. There is a lot of construction and they often shut off the water at 8 am. Granted this is something that will be resolved over time. But with so much construction you wonder if it was ready for people to move in. The biggest issues I have with City Walk are the poor customer service and the miss- information shared among staff. When originally looking at units I was told they offered two year leases and that construction is about the finish. When I arrived in the morning with my moving truck to sign my lease I was told by Fran (manager) that they will not offer a two year lease. When I mentioned that her sales person told be that you offered two year leases. Fan says its by manager approval and today she doesn't feel like doing that. Fran and her staff also attempted to enter my unit without giving me prior 24 hours notice. When I called her and spoke with a member of her team and told them she does not have permission to enter my unit without 24 hours notice I was hung up on. Also their online portal to pay rent does not work. I like to pay my rent a week in advance to give me peace of mind. But Fan said she only activates the online portal on the 30th of every month. So you have 24 hours to log in and pay rent. That defeats the purpose of paying online when it should be always available. The office does not have a rent drop box so you have to pay online or drop the rent of during the office hours of 9am-5pm. Hope you don't have an office job. Lastly the apartments have a lot of small issues. The new appliances are dented, scratched or missing parts, the water is not clear and very foggy. When reporting this to the office I was told to run the water for one hour each day before drinking. This has to be a health violation, lol. Overall I think the upper management of City Walk need to take a hard look at the complex and see that a lot of customer there are not happy. read more

Make sure you keep all your correspondence with the front desk in email. They will try to steal your money if they don't like you. Here is what happened. I was leaving the apartment after I found a job in the DC area. I scheduled a couple weeks in advance and asked when I can do a walk through with them. I also wanted to return my key. They kept saying they don't do walk through inspections on the weekends. So I drove 2 hours and cleaned up and returned my key. I asked again to the two ladies in the office who were sitting down and not doing anything, can you please give me a quick walk through inspection before I leave, and they still refused and said they will do it when I'm gone. A couple weeks later, I get a letter saying how filthy and damaged my apartment was and they wanted to charge me $600. Luckily I had email records of everything. I protested since they didn't even offer to do the walk through with me and did it behind my back. They ended up not charging me on cleaning fees and they returned my whole deposit after my nightmarish experience with City Walk. I got a call and the manager Fran was saying she did me a favor by not charging me for damages, but I had to do myself a favor by keeping an email trail because I knew they were trying to scam me. STAY AWAY. No small town hospitality here. Just wanna be city slickers trying to act like they are professionals. read more

Construction is over so that's a non-issue, I am one of closest apartments to the train and it doesn't bother me at all, Rent is extremely reasonable, amenities are awesome, leasing staff are all super sweet, Fran rocks! AWESOME APARTMENT! I haven't been living at City Walk for that long but I will say this is one of the best places I've ever lived. This is a terrible place to live if you ever get locked out. The emergency maintenance cannot let you in to your apartment if you are ever locked out at night or on the weekend. They will leave you stranded with no where to go. I would never live here again for this reason. read more

My husband and I were looking to rent a house with a yard when we moved to Charlottesville from Richmond because we were getting a dog. Unfortunately many of the houses we found did not allow large breed dogs for renters but we found City Walk Apartments which did. Although the units do not have a yard, they have a fenced in porch or balcony and the building as a whole has a dog park which is nice. When I came to tour the building, I liked the newer looking amenities, the pool, etc. The girl giving me the tour quickly told me we could find a much better place to live, especially for the price, which I thought was odd. I should have known that was a red flag. We decided to move forward, however, especially since we were on a tight timeline moving city-to-city. Once we got settled, we noticed many things about the apartment we did not love. The appliances are extremely cheap. Any time we cooked on the stove our entire living space got extremely smoky and the smoke alarms went off. There were many cracks in the walls and the floors would peel up (I believe they are not laminate but a vinyl that looks like wood). Additionally, the fire alarm went off at all times during the night; I felt so bad for tenants with children. Unfortunately this continued on for the two years we lived there. One Wednesday night I recall it going off around 11:30pm, 12:30am, and 1:00am. Again, this was not uncommon whatsoever. Similar to other reviews, City Walk is not very accommodating with requests. We got locked out of our apartment one night and when I contacted the security guard he stated he could not let us in because he could not verify we lived there. We were happy to provide identification and any information he requested. He simply said no and hung up on us; he would not answer after that. We had to have a locksmith let us in and we later got charged $1500 for this. Also similar to the reviews below, City Walk will charge you an exorbitant amount of money for the smallest thing. I will say we absolutely loved the Maintenance team, especially Slovak. They always fixed anything we needed day of and were extremely pleasant. Lauren at the front was always wonderful as well so I would be remiss not to acknowledge and thank them. The absolute worst thing that happened was regarding our puppy. If you read nothing else in this review, please read this. We had someone going to let out our 5 month old puppy (my husband and I were both traveling for work that day). A few days prior, I asked if they could let the dog walker in (since you have to have a key faub). They stated yes but then day of would not let her in. Our puppy was alone in our apartment from 8am - 6pm because City Walk staff stated they could not let anyone in. I called to verify who I was and who I wanted them to let in but they simply would not allow it. It had me in tears as I was in VA Beach for work and my husband was in DC; our puppy was sick at the time and someone could have easily been let in. Our puppy ended up going to the emergency vet that night; he had thrown up all over his crate multiple times and there was no one there to be with him. I wholeheartedly respect rules and policies around safety and privacy but I truly felt this behavior from City Walk Staff was downright cruel. Lastly, if the manager, Sarah, decides she does not like you then unfortunately favoritism will work against you. We always kept our apartment tidy, nicely decorated, paid rent the first of every month, etc. but we continued to receive petty emails about items on our balcony, rules, etc.; even serious legal terms were thrown in our face in an extremely threatening way. Many times Sarah would email us about events that did not even involve us but we would still be reprimanded. My husband and I moved here for my graduate school program and were so disheartened to have all of these experiences as newcomers to Charlottesville. We have never had any issues as tenants and I can honestly say neither of us have ever been treated so poorly, disrespectfully, and inhumanely. I could go on and on with many more stories about how the City Walk staff are unprofessional and quite frankly prejudiced. While we made some great friends there, the location is great, and the apartments look new-ish, I would strongly recommend not living there. I wish we would have listened to the one City Walk staff member who told me prior to moving that we could find somewhere much better. read more

They do their best to solve any issue you may have and they do it quickly. The amenities are great especially during summertime at the pool and community rooms. The parking garage is a huge bonus. Events are held on occasion that includes catering from renowned restaurants with prizes to be won! Construction, Construction, What's Your Function? Construction of these apartments is never-ending. It's been over a month since I moved in and still the beeping, grinding, pounding and shrieking fire alarms can be heard virtually every day (yes, that includes weekends). Construction marches on and yet the amenities are no where to be seen. No gym, no business office, no trash chute, no pool, and in my building still no mail boxes which means if you don't get home before the leasing office closes you can't get your mail. It is likely that due to high pressures to complete these apartments the quality of construction is also questionable. A/C problems, and leak problems have been reported. To make this simple reading I will just list out the pros and cons so that anyone reading this can see in short order that this place is just not move-in ready. They may be nice but I'd give it six months or so for the kinks to get worked out. Pros: 1) Location (close to Downtown mall and 64) 2) Apartments are new, have decent storage space and are rather sizable for the area 3) Parking garage (will appreciate if it snows as much as it did last winter) Cons: 1) Construction: day in and day out, noisy and potentially dangerous (one day a wheel fell out of a forklift and hit a BMW parked in the garage), also fire alarms go off so often it would be hard to know if there was a real fire 2) No Amenities: nothing that can be considered an amenity is available for use yet unless you count the bike racks which I don't because I don't own a bike. This means no pool even though it's been super hot lately, and no gym if you like to work out . Also, the elevators seem to be in and out of commission and the trash chute is not up and working so you have to walk your trash all the way out to a dumpster which is almost always full b/c the workers throw trash in it too. 3) Dirty: Because construction is going on constantly your freshly washed car is likely to get dirty pretty quickly. When they were powerwashing the garage my clean car got dirt sprayed on it. Further, everything from the sidewalks to the steps have dirt on them. 4) Noisy: Not just construction noises keep you from relaxing in your apartment but the train which the leasing agent claimed you can barely hear will certainly sound like it is coming right through your walls on occasion 5) Parking: I was told to park on the floor where I lived which annoyed me because the top floor isn't covered parking which is the only reason I would want garage parking and I was told when signing my lease that parking would be first come first served basis read more

I chose to live in CityWalk because of the location (freeway access, short walk to downtown AND Beer Run), the modern chic apartments w sweet amenities (when they are finished later in the year), and the team at the leasing office. Location: Speaks for itself, really. I can literally fall off my balcony and land at Beer Run (which, I go to several times a week). Taking a leisurely stroll down to NTelos for Fridays after 5 isn't horrible either. The cherry on top is that I can be in Richmond for work in less than an hour. Apartments/Ameneties: Lets get one thing straight....this is a brand new complex that still has a phase or two to go....it's a huge project. There are going to be some imperfections. What is important to me is how the staff deals with these issues. Unknowingly, I had a major leak due to the settling of the building (this happens in any structure that is built....the earth moves...this is no secret) and the broken pipe was fixed immediately. The dry wall and paint were done a few days afterward,which is absolutely fine and considered timely in my book because they are building like 200 new units at the same time. What is important to me is the communication and they were always keeping me in the loop and providing timelines. Yes, the AC units were not functioning properly....I had a few hot nights but the ceiling fans were good back up. The maintenance guy (super nice btw) took matters into his hands and re worked the piping so the condensation wouldn't back up and short out the AC unit. Problem solved. Again, it's BRAND NEW. The features of the apartment are very nice! The kitchen is huge and an entertainers dream with the open floor plan. I've met several neighbors and all are cordial young professionals. A bonus is the amount of K9 love in CityWalk....my neighbor and I have already been to the dog park together. I'm looking forward to the pool and gym opening up so I can hang out w more fellow CityWalkers. Leasing Team-Some yelp reviews crack me up, man. I've never heard of ANY major Apartment Complex allowing someone to bring their own appliances. If you don't like the appliances, move somewhere where you CAN bring your own appliances. Odd. Fran, April, and Caroline are awesome! Service w/ a personality! Not only has Fran befriended my dog but she also offered to take him for a night if I was gone. They give my pup treats every time we stroll by the office. I accidentally locked my keys in my car and Fran had a Tow truck there, to bail me out, in 20 minutes. The bottom line is they all have been beyond helpful, when I needed it. CONS There is no grace period for rent...it's due on the 1st and late after that. If you can't pay rent on time, I'm sure your parents would love to have you....we are all adults here. Wall painting isn't cheap. They won't let you DIY.....I tried to bargain but it didn't happen. If it is THAT big of a deal, I suggest buying your own place. All in all....I love my place! read more

I was one of the first people to move into City Walk when it was constructed and was very satisfied with it while I was there (I moved to Texas about 5 months later). The 1 bedroom size was more than enough space for just me. It is by far the nicest place I've ever lived, especially for the price. There is something to be said for being able to walk to Beer Run, downtown mall, etc. During my move out process, Fran was extremely easy to work with, although I did lose my deposit which I think is the policy of most places. If I were to ever move back to Charlottesville, I would for sure move back to City Walk. I wasn't even there when the amenities were open (ie. pool, workout room) and it was still worth it to me. DO NOT LIVE HERE. The fire alarm goes off constantly - I literally lost count of how often. Just as an example, as my husband and I were getting ready to move out, we joked that it wouldn't really be our last week at Citywalk unless the fire alarm went off once. Well, we were wrong - it went off TWICE our last week there, once at 4:45 in the morning. Oh, and they never express any regret or apology at the constant fire alarms, despite the fact that they're DEFINITELY contributing to an unsafe environment in the building - every time the alarm goes off and we evacuate, we see fewer and fewer people evacuating with us. At some point there's going to be an actual fire and people are going to get hurt because Citywalk can't get their act together to make sure the alarm only goes off for actual emergencies. Extremely helpful leasing consultants (the office quickly got us into our new apartment within a week- they did a walk through and processed our application). The apartment has a beautiful kitchen with granite counters throughout as well as tons of storage and the wood flooring is awesome and the open floor plan is great. The ac/heating unit is brand new and is better than any previous apartment I've lived in. The appliances are all energy efficient and top notch and beautiful stainless steel. I also love how well lit the apartment is with both natural lighting as well as light fixtures. I also feel extremely safe in this apartment community because no one can get into the buildings without a fob. My apartment also has great sound proofing as I do not hear neighbors surrounding or above. I would recommend these apartments to anyone especially because it is a 5-10 minute walk from the downtown mall :) read more

I have lived here for 7 months and love it! My place is on the top (fourth floor) and it is very quiet for apartment living. The amenities are great- the parking garage is attached, the gym is a delight, and the pool is gorgeous. I really like how new the building is and how modern the decorations are. If I ever have to call maintenance, they are usually able to resolve the issue within 24 hours. The front desk staff is also very courteous and easy to correspond with. I highly recommend this complex if you are looking for a place to rent in Cville. read more

I lived at City Walk for a year while attending medical school and would still be living there if I had the chance! It is a lovely apartment complex and the leasing and maintenance staff are phenomenal. Kim Witaconis was our leasing agent and she really took care of my husband and me from day one. She helped me figure out how to meet all the criteria for the application pending my student loan dismemberment, sent helpful tips for move in and move out, and was overall a friendly face who I enjoyed seeing around. Before moving to City Walk, I was a bit skeptical since some of the reviews mention fire alarms going off at all hours, water shutoffs, etc. I have to say, within my year of living here, none of this was an issue. The only time the fire alarm went off was when there was a fire risk in the building. We had no issues with the water and actually miss the strong water pressure that we took for granted when living there. City Walk is in a great location, it is a 10 minute walk from the downtown mall. The community also has a nice walking path out front which is great as it is very dog friendly. The amenities are kept clean and for an apartment, the walls are fairly thick. I know a lot of people complain about hearing neighbors, but this is a given in any apartment you will live in, and to be honest, I hardly heard my neighbors unless they were hosting a small event. All in all, I would highly recommend City Walk to anyone looking to live in Charlottesville! read more

I love this place. I moved in a few weeks ago and have had a great experience. Fran was my first contact and she is very good at what she does. I honestly don't know how she does it. She was doing everything she could to focus on me, but she was constantly being interrupted, but she never lost focus on me. She walked me over to the lounge area so she could go over the floor plan and then gave me a tour of the complex. There is still construction going on, but hey, it's not like they are hiding it, Pros: Location is a plus for me since I work downtown. I can walk to work and can't wait for road leading to downtown to open up. Entire staff is great and responsive. Neighbors are friendly and can't wait to meet more. Cons: There are a lot of pets and some tenants don't keep them on their leashes. I'm afraid of dogs and I live in the main building and I've come across a dog on the first floor several times running around not on a leash. When I spoke to the staff they immediately sent out an email to everyone reminding them to keep their dogs on a leash. You are not able to reserve the clubhouse for a private party. Fran explained that they would like to but the business center is in that room and it would prevent other residents from using the room. Parking is limited, but I knew that when I moved in. As I'm reading some of these reviews that are directed at Fran, I have not seen any disrespect at all. She seems to really want to go out of the way to help and to accommodate everyone. I'm in management and I understand that sometimes you can't please everyone and I hope that everyone understands that . Give City Walk a try you will love it. read more

My husband and I looked at City Walk apartments about a month ago. We thought that they were very nice with great storage, pricing and features. The only drawback was that the kitchen appliances are of the lowest contractor grade imaginable. The stove has coil burners (didn't even know they still made those!) and the fridge was the most energy-wasting type with a top-loading freezer and ice inside. We were still interested, if something could be done about that. Fran, the property manager could not have been ruder when I called to inquire about changing the appliances (at my own expense) and then replacing the standard ones when we move out. She interrupted me before I even finished my question and was completely inflexible in her response. She then told me that "You are the only person who has not thought these appliances were not terrific." I seriously doubt that, as she had her pat answer ready before I even asked the question. She even said that on that basis, this was not the place for me. Really? Is this the sales technique that they find effective at City Walk? This was not in the spirit of Charlottesville AT ALL. This woman, alone, would make me veer away from City Walk. If this is her level of responsiveness and lack of manners, just imagine what she would be like in the case of a repair or noise complaint! I guess that City Walk must have so many potential renters who don't cook, that they can afford to be this rude. BTW we would have been renting the most expensive and largest apartment. I would say, find another place. Good location, nice features, rude and unresponsive and rude manager. read more

I can honestly say that I have never been treated so deplorably in my life than how I was treated by the property manager of this complex. Fran, the manager, is one of the most despicable people I have ever had the displeasure of meeting - answered simple questions with incompetence and overt hostility, even going so far as accusing me, a person whom she had just met, of having an "attitude problem" because I insinuated that there was a mistake with my paperwork. In fact, we were in the process of signing a lease with City Walk and due to my encounter with this unprofessional and vicious woman, we actually chose to back out of the lease. If it hadn't been for this woman being in charge, I would have gladly lived at City Walk and given them my business, which would have amounted to thousands upon thousands of dollars. But I figured that if the person running this complex could be so incredibly aggressive and disrespectful to a customer they had just met, how would it be once they already had us in a contractual agreement, where they no longer had to be on their "best behavior" because we already were bound to a lease? No one should ever have to deal with this kind of behavior. There are plenty of beautiful apartments around Charlottesville that have a lovely staff - GO THERE INSTEAD. read more

It was very difficult to get an extra key, but otherwise City Walk has been lovely. The staff is friendly, pool is usually very clean, and they fix issues immediately. They allowed lease extension making a move-out much less stressful. The only thing really missing is a bus stop. read more
