Rob Wright Lee, IV who spoke…read moreout on a controversial topic that brought unwanted, false allegations against the members of this congregation by making his own opinions public without first realising that the public debate on this issue unfairly criticises Southerners in general who disagree with his opinions. Ministers within the United Churches of Christ are hired by their local congregations and if the minister engages the congregation in a debate they do not wish to be involved in, then the congregation rightly so SHOULD relieve that person of their duties no matter what the controversy is, since his personal agenda obviously interferes with the primary purpose is the church as the members see it. I attend a church of Christ here in Tennessee which is a wonderful, Christ centered loving, inclusive place of worship, where our Elders are the leadership and the minister preaches the Word of God each week to those who wish to hear the gospel. It is the elected Elders who lead the members in the worship of God and serving the needs of the community at large. They choose to not engage in the issues of the world that are race baiting taunts which would promote division rather than unity. This church has the same objective within the Thomasville area and doesn't listen to your criticism because you obviously don't know what you are talking about. How dare this young man who'd rather use his genealogical connections to Robert E. Lee to forward his own political agenda without careful consideration of what he was doing, involving his own small country church, no matter the members of Bethany agreed or disagreed with his views, unless they asked him to represent them and speak out on their behalf, and it doesn't look like they did that. Ministers like him are self serving attention hogs, using their positions to speak from a soapbox, wishing to take the spotlight for his own agrandizement, not a true servant of the Lord he claims to be whose main concern is his congregation and community and furthering the Lord's work here on earth. The world sees this young man as trying to make a name for himself, not accurately representing his family, his church or his community because no one asked him to speak for them on this difficult, complicated subject. I see his firing as a vote of no confidence, which is the church's right to express. Shame on him. Shame on those who are criticizing all the members of this church, without knowing any of them or their individual views and wrongly stereotyping them without any facts to do so. Typical liberal response to stereotype everyone without fully vetting them or understanding the positions of those you are so quick to judge. Who is the real hypocrites? But she told them she did now my father and I live together and when I called the Red Cross to try to get some assistance after losing everything in a fire they told me they would not help me because she told them she and my dad live together. Which they did not she lied they gave her assistance and when I called to try to get assistance being a verified resident they told me they couldn't help me. I can't believe it I lost everything my dad lost everything and the Red Cross is supposed to assist people and they're giving me the runaround is it because I'm black? Not one person has called reached out tried to assist me in any kind of way luckily I've been able to stay at my mom's me and my father they suck.
