The entireties of the staff - from the sales, to skilled nursing, to the dining room servers were welcoming, obliging, and happy (which is not always the case in senior facilities!) The residents we encountered were equally cheerful! My father decided on that 1st visit that "this was the place for him", and fortunately there was an apartment that would be available to him in a week's time. Unfortunately, as is often the case with elderly parents, we experienced a medical "emergency" with my Dad several days before his scheduled move-in. The amazing team at Abbotswood moved mountains to get him in-house, and under their expert Living Well @ Home skilled nursing care...an answer to our prayer as we could not give him the care he needed. The team at Abbotswood is enthusiastic, respectful, responsive and incredibly professional! The grounds are beautiful! The interiors are updated and bright! The restaurants serve wonderful food, and are accommodating for each resident's particular needs! I doubt you will find anything in the Triad that is even close to the gem that Abbotswood is!

The people in their care are severely disabled and completely reliant on the caregivers. Most of them are completely non-verbal. Some can say a few words. Those who work there so obviously adore their patients/clients, and love what they do. The grounds are gorgeous, and they have plans for renovating the facility. There is currently construction underway and they are excited about being able to offer even more to those in their care. The way that they treat the people in their care is so reflective of an acknowledgement of their human dignity. Everyone has heard horror stories about institutions that care for people who are unable to care for themselves. This place is on the opposite extreme, and it's such a noble cause. They are looking for volunteers and they have a wishlist of items on their website for those who want to help a charity that is having a tangible impact on people's lives.

My Grandfather became their family and developed the best relationship with his caretakers. I never worried about the care he received, because it was always at the level where I would have cared for him. I expected the best, and he received it. When he passed, his entire household mourned along with me. They will still share an endearing or funny story from their time with him, and it really touches my heart to know their relationship was so strong. Pennybyrn has some of the lowest resident-to-caregiver ratios in retirement living, and this is designed to allow extra time to build relationships, give extra care, and support enjoyment of life and home. As an employee, I can share that this company will go to bat for its team and try to give the best of every penny and benefit possible. Pennybyrn is non-profit, meaning every dollar that comes in goes right back into resident care. When they give annual increases, free meals and amenities, and continue to keep benefit costs some of the lowest in the industry, they have strategically and thoughtfully given to their employees at great expense. I knew from the very first time of meeting with Paige at the Solista High Point, this was the place I wanted my mom to be. Going from a private living environment to a Independent Living community is a scary experience for anyone, but the Solista Staff took her under their wings as they do every tenant and made her feel she was a part of the Solista family for years. Thats what they are at the Solista, one big happy family. The Solista unlike other Senior communities doesn't change their ways acting differently once you've moved in, they continue to grow as a community and the residents there are made to feel important and have a voice. Every time you walk in the front entry, you are greeted by the sweetest smile from Tandra at the front desk, Paige and David are always seen corresponding with the residents and helping out wherever necessary ensuring no one goes without. I won't go into details but I can tell you I have personally witnessed Paige, David, Johnny and the entire crew for that matter going out of there way doing things for the Solista residents that are not a part of their job description to help a resident out in such a way it prevents the residents from going into an emotional crisis and puts the residents at ease. The property is very inviting to walk around as they have a small pond, lots of artwork on the outside, and the inside most buildings are connectedand you can walk from building the building without having to go outside. This is a higher end residential community, so it is a bit expensive to live here but as I stated the quality of care is exceptional, whether you are living on your own or assisted living.

I work as a sitter for a client in Strickland Place. The CNA's when I'm working here are rude and…read moreunfriendly. On multiple occasions I have heard them talking about the residents loudly out in the halls. I have even heard them talking about the resident that I sit with. One of the CNAs said that the resident under my care, "is very rude and when I see her call light on when I'm working I purposely don't go in there because I don't want to deal with her" what if I wasn't in the room with her and there was an emergency? Another one of the CNAs took a very ugly tone with my client and said, "I don't know I'm not in her brain" when the resident asked when the nurse would be coming in with her pills. I found this very disrespectful and I personally would never speak to a resident or any person that way. Another thing is that they take up to 30 minutes to even come into the room and see what the call button was pushed for. The nurses, food service workers, and other employees are very nice and the facility is always clean. The only real problem i've seen is with the CNA's. f

The trees , plants, etc are well maintained all year keeping the community looking beautiful! The staff in the places I dealt with them were courteous and friendly as well as helpful. It has many fine features to keep the residents busy and happy. It has lots of living room spaces for residents family visits and even a large room to entertain in with a kitchen, large dining table, tv and sofa enabling one to host a private party or dinner. Staff seemed very friendly and prices are in line and in some cases less expensive than skilled nursing facilities. I interviewed the residents in the dining area and they seemed content w the accommodations. If ever you find yourself in need of their services the friendly staff would be happy to show you around and fill you in on the particulars.
