To say this church changed my life is not an exaggeration. Of course, it was God, but, as I have come to learn in the last few months of my life, God uses his church, his people, as his hands and feet. I grew up in a Christian home but walked away from the Lord about 13 years ago, thinking I could walk out my faith outside of fellowship, and, eventually, that isolation destroyed my faith. When I walked into CityLight last February, it had been almost 13 years since I had felt the desire to attend a church. And, if I'm honest, I don't even know why I went. I guess partying had run its course, and, I knew some changes had to be made. But I was pretty numb emotionally and pretty hard hearted and all I really wanted was a little "splash" of spirituality. I was working a lot of hours as an attorney, and, drinking and partying was about the only way I knew to manage stress and the sense of meaninglessness in my life. When I entered the service, music was playing and people were worshipping. Some had their hands raised, others had their eyes closed. I sat toward the back to try to be anonymous. But something started to happen. I started crying ... seemingly for no reason. But it felt good, so, I thought, "God, if this is you, don't stop." I closed my eyes and began to feel the presence of God and the love of God, tangibly, like a warm hug. I couldn't stop crying, but, somehow I knew that things were changing for me and it was good. I didn't have to do anything. I just sat there and received the love of God as it seemed wave after wave washed over me. A short sermon followed, and then another time of worship and prayer, and, I found myself moving to the front to worship with other attendees who had moved forward to dance or worship more freely. Several people seemed to sense what was happening to me (or saw my tear streaked face) and asked if they could pray with me. I could literally feel stress and depression lifting off of me, like someone had taken a blindfold off my eyes and a bag of rocks off my back. I knew I had met with Jesus and that things would never be the same. From that day until now, almost 9 months have past. My initially skeptical girlfriend, received Jesus' love and forgiveness a short while after my experience and was similarly delivered from addictive behaviors and depression. Our bruised relationship has been healed and restored to a healthy friendship and we are planning to be married soon. My son, also, received Jesus' love and forgiveness and one of the highlights of his week now is attending church and worshipping. This stuff is real and it's powerful and it's RADICALLY LIFE CHANGING! The people of CityLight have become our spiritual family and have loved us, prayed for us, encouraged us and counseled us every step of the way. Pastors Bojan, Mo and Mike, thank you for your transparency, your humility, you hunger for God and your availability to the people you serve so well. And to the people of CityLight, my family. I'll be honest, I've NEVER become so quickly connected to such amazing and strong believers. Not only do I feel welcomed but I feel like family. I honestly mean this. After every service groups of believers go out and hang out. Everyone is included and welcome! Sometimes we even minister to people together and I've never had people want to do that with me before. The believers I've met here are authentic ,compassionate people that are seriously in love with God and know how to do life together. I love the Pastors. They are reachable and don't exalt themselves. They are humble and preach truth even when it is hard. They care for the individual and call their congregation to grow and move higher in their walks with God. They are men of faith and relatable. These qualities are unfortunately hard to find in the present day American Church. The church is spirit-filled. Their main objective is that God leads the service and I can't explain how grateful I am for this. Many times they've allowed time for God to move and it has always been such a great time of healing for me. If time ever goes over, they always release those who need to go and are respectful of others times... but they never put a time crunch on others who need more. Worship is anointed and contemporary and always points to God. The musicians are skilled and the Worship Pastor is included in what I mentioned earlier. Very humble and relatable. Caring and authentic and all the other qualities mentioned above. If you are looking for a comfortable church where you can slip in and slip out and never grow in your faith...this isn't the church for you. This is an equipping church and one of great family. It's a great balance of giving time to both the word and the spirit. I've finally found a church where I can be who I am and worship and pray in my own way and not worry about what others think of me. It's been so hard to find a place where I can just belong. CityLight is a God-send. When I'm at a service in CityLight, all other distractions are removed. I feel as if I'm sitting right there with God, listening to Him speak. The Pastor is an amazing pastor who knows how to make the bible come alive and be more relevent to today's world, which is so important in my opinion. Worshiping at CityLight is so liberating. It has by far one of the best worship teams I've ever heard led by a worship leader who is taken up to the throne room from the moment he begins. All we have to do is join him up there. The music appeals to God of course, but it also appeals to us. Contemporty beats, touching lyrics, passionate delivery. The people I've met at CityLight have quickly become some of my good friends. It's a young environment filled with loving, non-critical individuals who are zealous for the things of God and the most down to earth people I've ever met in a church setting. They are people you'd meet in your everyday life, become friends with and want to spend time with. Only they're better because they're filled with the Holy Spirit and in love with Jesus. I came to Citylight f Church four years ago since I arrived in New York and I never left since. Maybe its Pastor Bojan's jokes that teeter from riproaring to corny, but always delivered with finesse, or maybe its the plush cushionless plastic chairs . Most importantly, its the sermons and worship. Every week, Pastor Bojan seeks the face of God weekly for a fresh word for the people and the worship team brings the presence and love of God down in a tangible way. It gives us direction and wisdom for the coming week and helps us to be stable in the crazy New York lifestyle. The genuine people that go there have become friends and family, it is always a delight to see them and I am still meeting new great people every week. They come from all walks of lives and lifestyles and always have something precious to share. My life has been enriched through the friendships I have developed here. Finally, the free food at the end of Sunday's service is great but nothing beats the supernatural encounter with God that only a few churches offer. I am so thankful Citylight Church is one of them. It is not spooky or queer but very exciting and powerful. What I love about CityLight Church is the sheer joy and excitement that I feel every time I walk through the doors. From the first Sunday I visited I was impressed by the upbeat, contemporary worship and as I came back week after week I was captured by Pastor Bojan Jancic's engaging messages. There are so many wonderful aspects of CityLight that I simply adore. The people are friendly, non-judgmental, and fun! We get together all the time for picnics and other exciting activities like skiing, white water rafting, and skydiving (that one was especially awesome!) I also love our life groups when you really get a chance to get to know other people in the church. In NYC it so difficult to find people you can be real with, but through life groups I have connected with some truly amazing people who have become great friends. I was raised in a Christian home, and although I went to church every Sunday I never really understood the true character of God. Since I have been at CityLight I have grown-up so much in my spiritual walk. After doing a bit of church hopping around the city, I decided to make this church my home a little over a year ago because the people took me in and loved me like I was family. It was the first time I felt like church was more than just a place you go because your "supposed" to, but actually a place where God will encounter you whether you are ready for it or not! I spent years going to church and had NO idea what I was missing because I had never felt the real presence of God until I came to CityLight. Oh and the music is amazinggg and I also really like that the Pastor's messages aren't full of "nice" fluff but are real, insightful, and very intellectual (with lots of references to historical context of scripture and in depth word studies of the original language). His messages are evidence of his healthy personal time with the Lord and his genuine love for the Bible and people. At CityLight, I fell in love with Jesus and finally found real friends in one of the loneliest and most superficial cities in the world... so to say the least, it changed my life for the better and know it can change yours too! read more

FEEL THE LOVE OF GOD; LEARN ABOUT THE BENEFITS OF SALVATION Coming to CItylight Church was a life saving moment for me. The teachings are Biblical, practical, alive, and memorable. Pastor Bojan Jancic is clear, funny, yet seriously devoted to what he does. Like no one I have seen or heard before, he has this unique capacity to surrender completely to the power of the Holy Spirit. The result is awesome! He brings the Bible to the times we live in, so that I was able to see, for the first time, that "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." This is my favorite church in all of NYC (even the whole world) no cap! This is a great church for young adults and teenagers. The pastors and their wives are extremely blessed with wisdom, knowledge and overflowing with the Holy Spirit (and also are super relatable!) I am 26 and I've been attending citylight for three years. I was born into a catholic family and I took a leap of faith going to Citylight and it was the best decision I've ever made. I learned how really deep our heavenly Father's love for us is. I learned so much from the citylight fam. This is such a Holy Spirit driven church that from the first day I got hit by waves of love and warmth from the Citylight community. When I saw and experienced their relationship with The Holy Spirit, it inspired me to be a better overall person and build my own relationship with God. I love this church! The worship music is uplifting and contemporary, and the sermons are relevant and Biblical. Pastor Bojan has taught me that God's not mad at me, and that guilt, shame and condemnation have no place in my life. I'm an artist. I'm from Texas. I moved to NYC for college. I come from 'flower power', hippie parents, but was a Christian because my grandmother told me I was. When I moved here I didn't want anything to do with religion because I didn't think that I could have a relationship with God and be creative or expressive. And if I did it meant that I had to be a really bad actor in crappy films that are totally un-relatable and tell people how NOT to live. I'm not into that and neither is CityLight Church. Not only does Citylight redefines church with a welcoming atmosphere & nonjudgmental environment-the teachings there from Pastor Bojan Jancic is relevant to our day to day lives. It is literally food for our souls. And the make-up of the church is like United Nations ranging from every age group. After 20 years of not going to Church I found a place where God was worshiped in Spirit and in Truth. The scripture is valued and the grace of God is valued above all. There is not a judgmental spirit or a condemning spirit there, but one of love and acceptance just as Jesus loved and accepted everyone. They live and speak the joy of the Lord and His powerful Love is active and present every time I worship there. A friend asked me once, Does God laugh? I've found a new home at CityLight Church! The people are GENUINE - something that I have had a hard time finding within the four walls of the church. Great music, and a practical, intelligent, and neutral study and application of the bible. Great community of people. Full of beautiful women that have standards. Weird things happen, as in just about any other church, but the explanations given for certain actions would put one at ease. I have been to this church several times with a friend - both in the East Village and at the Blender Theater. The music is not bad, and the sermon is ok, but the falling over "tickled by angels" stuff can be a bit disconcerting. There are a lot of lights, sound equipment and TV screens if thats what you are into. I was looking for Jesus and found a concert. read more
