Our group had a blast finishing the "Rockstar" room. Our host was great about preparing us for the different kind of locks in the room so we didn't waste time doing unlocking activities when we'd actually figured out the puzzle. With an experienced group of six we finished in 32min and 17 seconds! We had a blast there! We went yesterday and did the Zookeeper room and it was super fun! It was my first ever escape room and just the second one for my wife and daughters. It was so smart and well laid out. We made it through and in pretty good time, but we were constantly engaged and active and having a blast the entire time. My friends and I do many escape rooms around Washington and we were not disappointed to try out this one. We did the rockstar room, and didn't know a lot about it before but saw it had wonderful reviews. I have to say, several people felt this was one of their favorite escape rooms they've ever done. And we've done a lot! From the second the room started, you are thrown right into it! We saw some things we have never seen in other rooms, and loved it. Personally I love when a room has a lot of other rooms, this one only slightly has that, but they utilized the space so well. It also was nice that multiple people could be working on multiple puzzles at the same time and didn't have to just stand there waiting for their turn. The room had puzzles that all made sense, which is really nice, as I have a pet peeve about ones that don't actually make sense. I felt like the difficulty of this one was great. Sometimes in rooms we've done in the past, one or two people really lead the entire thing, this one felt like everyone got to truly contribute to it, but without it being way too easy. Highly recommend this room. Only wish they had a lot more rooms to try! read more

This was my first escape room experience. We did Rockstar, and it was amazing! I loved that our team could be working together on puzzles or working on different puzzles at once. There were several times we had the right idea but didn't quite execute it in the correct way, but Bria was a fantastic guide, and offered just the right amount of support (if needed). I was a little nervous going into an escape room as I had no idea what to expect, but this was great, and I'd love to try the other one soon. I hope they continue to add rooms. My friend and I did the Rockstar room. I booked it because I'm way too confident. The game master was so sweet and kind; he encouraged us by saying, "you were almost halfway through!" after we failed. He chimed in to ask if we needed help and gave very good hints. He was wonderful, and we plan to come back with a bigger group to finish that room! read more

I had a really good experience, but we ended up doing one of the most impressive escape rooms ever a week or two before, and that is definitely affecting my review a touch. I have a few other notes as well, but its comparison more than anything. The person guiding us was good and funny. I think like most escape rooms the estimated escapees is probably a touch high. We had 7 people ( 5 adults 2 teens) one teen got bored so quickly. The other teen was trying, but didnt have a ton to do/was missing experience on how to do an escape room. And as a whole I think 5-6 is probably best, but the expertise of 8 people could help for sure. Outside of that the room was mostly good, I have a few thoughts on a few puzzles. Some where mindset not being dialed in, and some were a touch confusing. I will point them out as vaguely as possible, in case the people want to modify, but I wont have any level of specificity. If anyone at cityscape believes I am not vague enough please message me and I will modify or remove it. Drumstick. This is a cool puzzle, I think some guidance is missing a bit. The tool to solve this isnt completely clear and it took me talking to my wife on the way home before I realized how it was supposed to actually work. The assistance tool could use some modification, but I want to keep it vague. Math puzzles. I am personally never a fan of math puzzles in escape rooms. The reason is they halt the progress of the room. The first one is kind of cool and clever and could halt, but is early enough that other stuff was still happening. The second one wasnt too difficult, but if you make one mistake you can basically come to a stop. And its late enough in the room that this was basically everyone sitting around trying to solve it, and it really needs the focus of one person, without the pressure of everyone talking and trying to figure it out. There is a really cool puzzle, that is difficult to express. I like what they did, but its hard to express the info without prior knowledge related to the room. I didnt have that knowledge and we were getting low on time, and it was very hard to communicate it, but honestly its pretty cool There are some cool clever things about this room. There are some challenges that are achievable, but challenging. There are some puzzles I mentioned above that are close to being awesome. Overall I had a blast. I am thoroughly excited about trying the other room. It sounded like a blast. I am happy to have another great escape room experience in Tacoma. I would definitely recommend. Its within top 3 for me for sure. Clever use of the space as well. I hope they are able to expand or reset rooms regularly enough that we can visit multiple times again. read more

Cityscape is a hidden gem for escape room enthusiasts. We did both rooms (Rockstar and Zookeeper) and thought they were both fantastic. It's worth traveling for. Having done 100+ rooms, it's really hard to be surprised by much. There were still new mechanics and puzzles we haven't seen before. Rockstar is longer and more difficult of the two. If you had to pick one and you're limited on time, I'd pick rockstar. However, I do think it's worth doing both if you're traveling for escape rooms The production was great and puzzles were logical. The little details that hints at all the parts of a puzzle is appreciated. Zookeeper is really whimsical. Although it's geared towards beginners and perhaps a younger audience, I thought it was worthy of an enthusiast's time and money. The icing on the cake to these epics rooms is really the passionate game master. They make or break the game. In this case, Daniel made it such an incredibly fun experience for us! We thank you and we can't wait to visit again when the new rooms open! read more

We had such a fun time playing Zookeeper at Cityscape Games: Tacoma Escape Room. Daniel was extremely helpful and enthusiastic about his game rooms and was so passionate about us having a great time. The room was one of the easier rooms, but was perfect for our group of newbies, including our seven year-old daughter. I could not have asked for a better experience and will definitely visit again. Absolutely loved everything about this escape room! We have done over 100 escape rooms and this one is definitely in the top 5. I loved the local theme. The room itself was nicely put together with the perfect amount of locks and tech. It was the first time I've ever done a room that gave you more than an hour, so you definitely feel like you're getting your money's worth. I also liked the fact that it was bilinear in terms of gameplay. So everyone wasn't hovering over just one puzzle to advance the story. You could do multiple things to move the story along. Daniel did a fantastic job designing this room, and he was such an awesome game master! Can't wait to do more of his games!!! read more

We escaped with 1 minute and 30 seconds to spare!! We had so much fun at this escape room! We've done several escape rooms and this is one of our favorites. Not only was it fun, but it was also EXTREMELY well done. The whole experience was so positive starting from the moment we walked in. The lockers even had phone chargers in them which was the perfect touch! The escape room itself was the perfect level of difficulty and the clues offered when we needed them were very helpful. The puzzles were so much fun and related to the theme of the room. The room being focused on Tacoma made this escape room stand out from the rest. Daniel was SO nice and even stayed and chitchatted with us for 30 minutes after we escaped. We had such a great time and cant wait for the next rooms to open!! read more
