Poor installation, poor service. In May, 2017, I spent $6760 to have Gres Paving completely remove…read moreand replace my driveway. At the time of the installation the crew was fine, the job seemed to be ok. Less than a year later, the edges of the driveway had begun to crack and separate. I called Gres on April 29th. On May 16th, without my knowledge, the crew chief from Gres inspected my driveway. He called me (I was not at home) and said the problem of the edges breaking loose was due to driving the riding mower over the edges of the driveway. He offered to send a crew to cut-back the edges to remove the crumbling areas but advised that it really needs to have some kind of edging around the driveway, like a Belgium block, or to not run the mower across the driveway. Nothing was said when the driveway was installed a year earlier about riding a mower over the edges and Gres never mentioned the need for me to install edging like Belgium block. I've had this type of driveway at this house for 30 years and never had edges fall apart like is happening now. Also, cutting back the edges will likely only have the problem continue with the fresh edges, it will not fix the problem, and I will end up with a smaller driveway than what I paid-for in the first place. On June 27, 2018, after speaking again with the crew chief, I agreed to have them put in fill dirt to create a more even transition between the grass and the driveway with the idea being to prevent further deterioration of my driveway. Sadly, the execution and result were totally separated from the idea. First, the dirt was placed along the edge of the driveway but not tamped-down so it will do no good whatsoever to restrain any further deterioration of the driveway. Second, Gres did not have the courtesy to include grass seed in the fill. The crew chief had mentioned to me the type of seed they would use and that they get it from Home Depot. Finally, the fill dirt they used was total garbage. It was filled with broken glass, metal shards and other debris (I shared pictures of it with Gres). I then had to remove all of the dirt because I did not want my dog slicing her paws to shreds on the broken glass and metal shards. A couple weeks later the supervisor called me (he was on vacation) and offered to remove the dirt but it was too late. The problem is that the driveway is defective and the cracking is not due to driving the riding mover across it. It was shoddy workmanship followed-up by a Band Aid solution. I am disappointed by the work and the follow-up and, in the end the belligerence of the crew chief.
