We used Glidden Construction for our recent bathroom renovation, which was a complete gut and rebuild project and could not be happier with the process or end result. Lloyd and Eirini were incredible from start to finish! Lloyd was generous with his time, coming out to give us a ballpark estimate for the project even though we admitted we were still a few months out from starting the work. This in and of itself put him well above other contractors we attempted to contact. Lloyd was open and honest about what it would take for this project, what the unknowns might be, and what a feasible timeline for the work was, which we greatly valued. When we were ready to start the work, Lloyd came back out and provided an honest and reasonable quote. While they weren't the lowest estimate we received, for the scope of the work and how impressed we were with our early interactions with Lloyd and his team, we felt it was a very fair price. He also listened to what we wanted and needed, thinking up creative solutions to help ensure the finished product met our expectations. Even more impressive to us was that in the end, the project finished within about 5% of the original budget, which is always remarkable in our 100+ year old house. You never know what problems are lurking behind these walls and Lloyd clearly has experience with these types of homes and projects. Before the project started, they informed us that there might be a delay and offered to refund our deposit if we wanted to cancel our contract. Because we found someone we trusted in Glidden Construction, we opted to wait and were pleasantly surprised when they were able to start the project about 2 months ahead of schedule. The finished project is even better than we had anticipated and the process of working with Glidden was wonderful. My wife and I are very indecisive people. We knew we wanted to rehab the kitchen in our rowhouse, but we only had a vague idea of what the transformed space would look and feel like. There were a lot of options that were difficult to fully visualize. Lloyd was extremely helpful in guiding us through the initial planning for the project. Called Glidden to replace one of our bathtubs and the surrounds in both of our bathrooms after they started peeling away from the walls. Their quote came in at the right price and most of the work was done in one day. They came back for a short shift the next two days to finish up caulking and sanding. While the guys were waiting for some of the caulk work to dry, they filled in a few popped screws in the ceiling and laid down some additional lines of caulk on one of the sinks for no extra charge. Two weeks after they finished, my wife noticed that the silicon seal was starting to peel away from the new surround, so we called them back; apparently they hadn't used this particular surround before and the silicon they used didn't adhere properly. They came out the next day and had the seals replaced in 20 minutes. Lloyd was very knowledgable and personable when he came out to do the estimate. The guys doing the actual work were efficient and cleaned up after themselves. Communication was great and any questions we had were answered quickly and with enough detail that we felt like we weren't being taken for a ride. Overall they provided great service at a good price. Hopefully we won't need any additional work but if we do I won't hesitate to call Lloyd again. read more

If I could give this business ten stars I would. Lloyd is like Yoda in human form. The mantra of my life has been, "It seemed like a good idea at the time" yet that hasn't stopped me from spontaneous ideas. Glidden construction recently did a small remodel in my basement, converting 3 small closets into 1 large storage closet. The work is well done, exactly what I wanted. Our home experienced modest water damage as a result of a roof leak. Scope of work was replace dry wall, replace hardwood floor, replace/repair crown molding, caulk, spackle, repaint. Once we squared with our insurance company, the process of finding a contractor began. We contacted 6 contractors, 3 of whom never called us back. We ended up with 3 estimates from 3 contractors. Glidden's was not the cheapest nor most expensive. They came in in the middle. But they invested significant time in providing a thorough and comprehensive estimate. And we and they knew from the get go that we would need some creative solutions to some repair challenges-- again, which Lloyd was helpful in laying out options for us. The communication and contracting process with Glidden was excellent and far superior to any contractor I have worked with. The execution of the work was excellent and to the letter of the contract. They did use subs for our work, which I was a little nervous about, but Lloyd made sure they were clear about what needed to be done, checked on their work periodically, and came though the house at the end of the work to inspect everything. Lloyd even called us after our final payment to him to see if we had any additional punch list items. All in all a great experience. Lloyd was prompt, extremely helpful and always went the extra mile to be sure everything was done to total satisfaction. I had another contractor who took my deposit and never showed up, so I was a little "battle shy" trying with another one again, but Lloyd lived up to the positive reviews, gave fair and honest quotes. One project was replacing the wood floor on our roof deck with composite material. He sent photos of products and when I said the choice was difficult, he immediately came to the house with samples in hand. He went to the deck, laid out several and helped me narrow the choice down to two. Another was replacing patio doors (4) plus windows (2). He gave me a quote for one brand and then on another one we both agreed was better quality. He did not mind working up two quotes.I also had several small handyman type of jobs and he had no problem....seems from big to small, he will take on all! He did not mind that I added a couple of projects beyond the original plans. His subs were great to work with...polite, considerate, prompt and efficient. Lloyd made sure every detail was completed to satisfaction. I will without hesitation call Lloyd for future projects and will not bother to get multiple quotes.....prices are fair, completions are excellent and timely. What more can one ask? We hired Glidden Construction to replace our wooden lintels above our bedroom windows with cement ones. Lloyd and Eirini were great at communicating with us and keeping us informed on the progress with the project.
