I did my research before I went here. Had all my documents completed, photos and fees paid. I made an appointment, they took my passport and POOF!! out came an Indian Visa. But that being said, if you are there without having done your research you will be pleasantly inconvenienced. US citizens, Take heed to my advise: 1. Fill out your visa application online. It's somewhere on there website. 2. Print and sign your application. 2a. Print and sign the other miscellaneous forms as well. 3. Make sure you have a 2x2 passport style photo printed on photo paper. 4. Save $$$ and bring a money order for payment. They take cards but it's a service charge and more money you'll be giving them for nothing. 5. Make an appointment online. And note that they are not open from 1 to 4PM. 6. Good luck! read more

While the application was redundant, long, and appeared to ask for completely irrelevant data, I can still say that these guys processed my visa MUCH quicker than I could ever hope for. 10-year tourist visa DONE in 6 calendar days! I overnighted my documents late on a Tuesday night, and it was received Wednesday morning. Fastforward a few days - I was holding my passport with the visa in my hand by the following Tuesday morning! Did I mention this was not a rush request, and that I stated on my application that the planned trip was over four months out? Updates are very real-time on their website, and email notifications are like clockwork - I was very aware of each step of the process. I did not have any issues and did not have to call them, so I cannot comment on their customer service. I do know their timing is consistently good, as I've previously applied for a business visa and the turnaround was just as smooth and quick. read more

Awful experience. Visa application pending forever, and I ended up having to cancel the trip. Worst service ever. I applied for a conference visa for attending an academic conference in India. It was done by sending in the materials to CKGS, which take care of the process and transfer it to the India consulate in Atlanta. My application was "received" by CKGS more than three weeks before my departure date. After two days the status turned into "under process at the embassy"; however, the status stayed at that stage for three weeks without any further information, and I had to cancel my trip and missed the conference. The website stated that for non-US citizens the processing time is "7-10 working days". I am a non-US citizen but not from any of the countries that require additional verification. However, my application had just been on hold for such a long time. When I called them, they were not able to verify what was going on. The pending status had continued until one day before my flight. I ended up having to cancel the trip. Since I already missed the trip, I decided to cancel my application to retrieve my passport. It took one week (plus pushing with two phone calls) to get my passport back to my hand. I was anxious for the whole week because I had googled about how bad the CKGS service could be and some had reported that their passports were missing due to the company's incompetence. Fortunately, my passport came back to me safely. There was no visa stamp, no denial information, no written materials, etc., any related information regarding the visa application. I have no idea why my application got so delayed and what might have gone wrong. I merely wasted $134 and had my passport travel to another place for a month without knowing what was going on. To my knowledge applying through CKGS is the only way to get an India Visa in the US, except for doing an E-Visa. Thus, if you must go to India as a non-US citizen living in the US, I would recommend doing an E-Visa when it is applicable (You can not use E-Visa for conference visa though) or applies several weeks before the departure date. read more

I think one star would be taking it too far. They are a nuisance to deal with. The customer service is patronising to say the least. They repeat information which you can read on the website. And you hear them saying 'let me give you the information so I can help you - and they repeat the same thing again'. Every opportunity they get, they blame the embassy for delayed processing time. Applying for Renunciation online - still have not received my original passport back (20 days +). This is after paying 500 USD+ per application (tedious and repetitive). read more

Worst service ever. First of all, the application itself is so redundant and long. It took weeks to finish it. Then you come and sit here for hours to see someone. Seven counters and 2 open or 3 if you really lucky. The lady in the front just yelling at everyone to direct them. Overall, can't wait to get out of here .. Well, it has been 90 days since I applied for my Visa, I still haven't got it. And, I'm local, so no postal delay excuse. God forbid you have a sick family member you are trying to visit or have a vacation planned in advance because that is not going to happen. They are disorganized, there are lengthy delays in handling even simple things like updating online status. Window service is good and it goes downhill from there. Worst customer service experience. I applied for a VISA in early May, an entire month went by with no update so I decided to withdraw my VISA application. I called, emailed and sent the withdraw form. After two weeks of receiving the run around on the phone and through email I received a email notification stating that my application would be withdrawn. Fast forward 3 weeks and there is no update on my returned application (which includes my passport). I emailed and called the office to find out that my application is still under review at the embassy. It seems to me that there aren't any clear processes and workflow. The customer service person on the phone seem to be in the business of turning as many phone calls as possible by going through a script , instead of making sure the customers questions and concerned are addressed read more

There is one Lady . Ms. Allica was very rude. She made racial comment about my 17 months kid. She was not helpful. It seems like she did not like Job. She was forced to do Job. the worst staff. if they do not have any information regarding the process, they are not hesitant to misguide you and give you wrong information. they are inefficient dealing with Passport service promptly. its just we do not have any other option so we are stuck with them.. if we ask questions from them, than they keep passing the ball to other departments. highly inefficient people. read more

Went for a new minor PIO application. Took appointment online but still had to take a a number and wait to be called for. Even though all are documents were in order and were good, they had some difficulty within their system and took around 40 mins to just resolve it internally. Application submitted, we were told it would take 4-5 weeks to get the documents back but surprisingly, we received email alert within 10 days about the application ready to be picked up. Job done, average, no good or bad feelings. Can improve A LOT. read more

Update: I received a call from the Atlanta office after posting a negative review on facebook. I explained the situation to the director and he got it straightened out and the passport into my hand in less than 48 hours. Very relieved! _______________ Really terrible visa service. They handled my work visa quickly and efficiently, but my husband's entry visa application to join me has gone exactly nowhere. They put it "on hold" because they wanted more documents that were NOT on the checklist (nor did those requirements appear ANYWHERE on the website -- I have checked pretty extensively) and then have managed to mis-lay every single piece of documentation I have sent them in order to fill their requirements. This is even though I have confirmation emails, etc, that they DID in fact receive the documentation. I have called them every day for a week, and they keep putting me off, making promises, and giving me factually incorrect information -- I am beginning to wonder if they are actually just playing for time because they have lost his passport altogether (according to other yelp reviews, that does happen sometimes). I have contacted the consulate itself to see if they can help -- but right now my husband has no passport. NOT pleased! read more

Paid FedEx fees for returning my passport. It's been ready for 2 weeks. Called twice. Sent email as per request with proof of my money order showing that I paid $15 additional. Yet CKGS informed me by email to pick up the passport from the office. I had to hire employees to attend my business and went to CKGS to collect my passport. I was first in line, but called last. Lady could not find my passport for 20 minutes. Finally got my passport. IS THERE ANY WAY TO GIVE MINUS 5 STAR?? They don't deserve even a single star or zero star. read more

This service provider is a rip off. I ended up payin using 4 different credit cards thinking something was wrong with my card. I keep calling them and they ask me to call my bank to get the payment sorted out when indeeed there is a glitch with their website. I am not sure why the Ministry of External affairs chose to go with them. The staff for some reason cannot understand the issues. Pathetic service for the money we spend. Absolutely ridiculous service, they give false status updates on their website and when you call. My wife's OCI application is on hold for 3 weeks and now they say it is withdrawn when I have been calling every few days. Still waiting for callback from manager. We are screwed since they are the only ones you can apply with and they know it. read more

Worst experience ever. Applied for a Renunciation Certificate for me and my wife. Had exactly the same documents provided for both applications. My wife's application got processed and Renunciation Certificate got issued. I received an email saying that needed the original OCI card as proof before the application will get processed. I sent them the OCI card via FEDEX (have proof of receipt and who signed it at their end). Three weeks later I get my application back saying I do not need a Renunciation Certificate if I have a OCI card (though my wife got one issued). They said I will be issued a refund. As of yet after 15 days I do not have a refund and they did not return my OCI card. Now they claim they never received my OCI card even after I show them proof that it was delivered to their office. I am not sure why the Ministry of External affairs chose to go with them. When you call them you reach their offices in India. They would not give you their phone number in Atlanta. I am travelling to India in two weeks and I do not have my OCI card. I hope someone at the Embassy would read this and try to help me. read more
