Absolutely love the staff here! Monday nights with Jonathan are actually something I look forward to!!! And that's says a lot coming from a girl who used to hate the gym!!! CKO is such a great workout! I don't come here as often as I should...oops. Lol It can be hard to follow the combos sometimes because the instructors move quick, but you can do it at your own pace. If there's a routine you can't do, you can do something similar such as squats instead of jump squats, etc. The new owner Luis is very friendly and welcoming! My fave classes are with trainers Jonathan and Brandie. I actually went to Brandie's class tonight - her playlist is on point!! I love how she always ends her classes with Linkin Park's "one more light" for the cooldown. She kicked my butt tonight - in a good way! read more

My friends and I went on a Monday evening for a trial class. It was the first time any of us had tried kickboxing so we weren't really sure what to expect lol. We were greeted upon arrival and given a form to complete. We arrived a little earlier as requested for them to provide us with an orientation. My friends had bought their own gloves while mine did not fit well, the gym offers $5 rentals or you can also purchase a pair there. The check-in process was very smooth. We took the class with Coach Jonathan. He was great and motivating. He physically demonstrated and verbally announced the movement several times. He walked around to make sure everyone was good + to offer motivation to keep going. The class was no joke we were all dripping sweat but that just goes to show it was a great workout. While I might've had to take a few breaks, I didn't feel discouraged at all and it felt like a safe environment. After the class, we did a complimentary body scan. We didn't realize we had attended the last class until we were doing the body scan and we didn't feel rushed at all. After the body scan, we were given printouts with all our stats. The staff were SO informative. I was really impressed with how friendly, willing they were to answer questions and how they were extremely thorough with educational facts on how to reach our goals & how to understand the information from the scan. To my surprise, the back of the page for the scan explained it all so when I saw that it meant so much more that they truly took the time so share all of the information with us in live time. I highly recommend this location! The workout was great and motivating & best of all the customer service was truly unmatched. They truly care about everyone who walks through that door and ensure that you have a great experience. This is the best workout you'll get. The staff here is amazing and so supportive, the music is AWESOME, the classes are for EVERYONE. You can be an expert in kickboxing and just a beginner and honestly, everyone can work at their own pace! It's not pricey for what you get! The facility itself is kept so clean by the staff its truly incredible (And i've been to other branches...) The times are great and work around your schedule. Super early classes, some in the afternoon and others late in the evening. If you go in for a trial class, get ready to be addicted. Felt the urge to write this review since the other reviews are extremely dated. I went this past Saturday to try out a class as part of a week promo they have. Free kickboxing classes for a full week. The class started at 930 am and I was told to arrive 15 mins prior for an introduction. I waited on line since other people were checking in and I walked up to an older lady who I assume to be a manger or owner. Instead of greeting me she said "you're late". I also heard the lady yell "after class you need to come settle your balance". Rude. I was rushed to sign the consent form and told I needed to buy gloves, wish I would have been told this prior. I was presented with three types of gloves but then she told me I should buy the $40 gloves in order to do the routine effectively. SO obviously that's where they get you. I was looking around to see where I should leave my stuff and she yelled at me "What are you waiting for?" I asked her where I should put my bag and she told me I could leave in on the chairs by the window. Later on midway through the class I felt uncomfortable because the next class started to arrive and were sitting right on top of my belongings. The workout is intense, I felt like I did more crunches, running and squats then I did punch/kick the actual bag so that was odd. I would not join this gym for many reasons aside from the rude and unwelcoming management. During the class I was unable to see the instructor since he was in the middle of the room and I had an outer bag. He went over the routine but didn't even walk around giving tips or correcting form like they do at other locations. Coming from a person who is super active this is annoying. This could be dangerous because you could be kicking or punching in a way where you hurt yourself and can cause harm to your joints. I also saw plenty of ladies doing squats incorrectly as well as using the kettle bell incorrectly. There's no point in paying $60 a month for an instructor to belt out orders but not help you complete the routine effectively and efficiently. For that get a one on one secession. On the bright side I got overpriced gloves that cost $15 on Amazon...There's better out there folks trust me. read more

Due to covid19 and the gym closing I was unable to use my membership that I had prepaid for and although it was disappointing the amount of emailing and reaching out I had to do to get a response.m, I eventually did and Christina helped very quickly to get a response from corporate. I'm a huge cko kick boxing fan...went to Hoboken for the longest needed a break but went back but in Edgewater this time and what a waste of money anyway...I loved Lodi...took a class with Jose who if I'm not mistaken used to teach in Hoboken and his classes were great. He didn't fail this time either! Gym is big, roomy, and super clean. They also have shoe policy, which is fine they asked us to clean shoes off. Def. Look into this place if our interested in a Great workout! Oh...p.s. It is not where GPS says it is...drive further up to the cafe billiards, its in that lot! read more

Post baby I can always use a different workout to maintain a slimmer me. I get bored easily (true Gemini that I am)...I've done yoga, hot yoga, bootcamp etc etc. Driving around doing errands I keep on passing these CKOs so I thought, let me see what the hype is all about. Paid for three classes and gloves (some groupon). I took a 5:30 in the morning class and it kicked my ass. LOL But it was fun! And if it wasn't for the fact that I'm a member of a gym already I'd say this is way more worth it because it makes the best use of an hour! With a kid and full time job, I don't have the time to put 2-3 hours to a gym. It's 59.00 dollars a month. I'd def join if the price was half that, because I know realistically I could only commit to 3 times per week max. And I'd only be able to make the Tuesday, Thursday 5:30 am classes and maybe a class during the weekend. So doing the math, 59 (no tax) is too much when I'm sure there would be weeks during the month I'd only make it twice. For that, I make more use of the gym! But it's a fun class and def go with the instructor (young guy, short, a lil stocky)...don't know his name but he teaches the early morning course and he is awesome. CKO Wallington and Lodi were a great place to go. Sal, the owner/instructor, was very knowledgeable and passionate about fitness. He was able to motivate the unmotivatable. I would give his efforts 5 stars. Sadly, he was taken to court by the CEO of CKO and forced to step away from the business. CKO is the only workout I can consistently commit to. It's never the same and you get a good workout with variation. Some instructors are better then others. Personally my favorite is Litza Nora and Paul ( he's not there anymore :/ ). The new location is much better because I don't have to sit in highway traffic anymore. When they incorporate more then just bag workout I feel I get a better workout but not all the instructors do that. I wish they had another morning class during the week. Maria gives one of the best classes by far. She consistently monitors to make sure you're using the right form and gives you tips throughout her class. This is bar none the best workout of my week. I love CKO! I was a member years ago at another location and assumed the next closest one would be too much out of the way to get to once my location closed. This was the only work out I saw results. I started back about a month ago, and already seeing better results than I had when I was training for a marathon last year. The instructors are different from each other, but all tough. You get a serious high intensity workout every time and will never got bored. The other members are very friendly and you never feel uncomfortable our out of place. You will surely leave sweat on the floor after the intense 1 hour work out. I'm glad I came back to the CKO family, Lodi is a great location! read more

What a great workout! I have to acknowledge that this was probably the greatest workout I ever put myself through. Within minutes I was soaked in sweat during the warm up. It is not like I am completely out of form, but this workout was hard. The trainers do a great job incorporating strength building into the exercise. You use everything from dumbbells to jump rope. As you start to attend regularly, you get to know the trainers, ask questions, and get advice. Once you encounter a trainer you prefer, you can attend their workouts regularly. The front desk staff is always friendly and polite. Alas, this does come at a cost. Yea, you can pay $10 bucks a month at a gym, but you have to give this a try. I HATE treadmills, bicycles, and ellipticals (boring). This is truly a functional exercise that you can enjoy. Beware, the next morning muscles that you did not know even existed will be tender. read more
