As I planned out my Portland trip I had determined to go to Windows Bookseller and my visit to this bookstore exceeded my expectations. As I understand it, this cozy location is smaller than the Eugene location, but it still has an amazing array of books available, prompting many Solomonic decisions about which books to buy and which ones to leave behind. A few minutes after I arrived and started browsing, I heard Adam recommending Walker Percy to another customer. I knew then that this was a place with good taste in theology books (browsing the literature shelf I noticed a lot of the usual suspects among the "Books & Culture" crowd, including Wendell Berry, Marilynne Robinson, and my favourite, Alice McDermott). There are a lot of theology, biblical studies, philosophy, and history books available at very good prices. Names that leapt out from the shelves included Marva Dawn, Stanley Hauerwas, and Walter Brueggemann. Many of the hardcovers I purchased had laminated covers which I always appreciate. The staff were very friendly and helpful and I left with a box full of books. The next time I visit Portland I am definitely going to prioritize visiting Windows Booksellers again.

Due to an appointment in Oregon I got the pleasure to finally swing by and check one of them out... and WOW! I was in readers heaven. I felt like the pricing was a bit steep on some books but for the most part it's kind of worth it. The only weird vibe I had here was the staff. Yes, they were polite, but they were all so robotic. There was one lady who I swear asked me every four minutes without ever looking up at me "are you finding everything okay?" and even checking out the man at the counter hardly acknowledged me or spoke so much as the price my purchase was. Just a weird vibe to me, but then again, everyone has bad days.

What greeted me was a snarky welcome and an automatic coffee machine with burned, unflavored and unbalanced coffee. If you're a person who truly appreciates good tasting coffee, this IS NOT your solution. I'd recommend 10 minute drive to Morse coffee instead. For the same price you'll be delivered a crafted coffee rather than a machined coffee that can only serve coffee one way.

My favorite items are their coffee cups and fun sticker selection. I love coming in to get a coffee and see what new books/items they have. The employees are always friendly and offering book recommendations. They recently organized the shop and I thought it looked very nice! I just love that you can visit a fairly large Powell's without dealing with downtown Portland…read moretraffic. Beaverton is lucky to have this store at Cedar Hills Crossing. I did some online checking beforehand to find out which Powell's would have the best selection of danmei novels and this was the one. I walked out with a full bag of books, most of which were used, cheaper than new, so it felt like a deal. Bathrooms are near the front of the store to the left but you need to ask for the door code.

This one is not as big as their popular location, but it is definitely still very spacious with a Barnes & Nobles type vibe. They still have a good selection of products here and prices are fair.
