We then went to Lazlo Jewellers just across the street where they had a smaller size and the price was significantly cheaper. Worst customer service! In late April, 2026, my husband and…read moreI took a 10-day trip to Europe to celebrate our 20th anniversary. While in Galway, we stopped into Claddagh Jewelers. I found a lovely Claddagh ring that was a more delicate style than is traditional, but it was in yellow gold, not white gold, which is what I usually wear. No worries - I was told they could custom make one for me in white gold and mail it. After checking for proper size, I ordered the ring, paid for it, including shipping, and returned home and waited. The ring arrived May 22, and I was so excited, only to open the box and find they sent the same ring - in yellow gold - that I had tried on! The receipt clearly states, "9k white gold Claddagh ring". I emailed the shop right away, get detailed instructions for returning the ring, including how to handle customs paperwork. After 3 trips to 2 different post offices (no one seemed to know how to handle the customs form), and at a cost of over $70, I was finally able to return it. And then I waited. On August 3, I reached out to the shop inquiring as to the status, and they tell me they did not receive the ring. I checked the shipping QR code and it appeared that the ring was being returned to me! Sure enough, I received the same ring back. Apparently, the ring was sitting in Customs in Ireland from June 23 to August 1. Per customs documents, the package cleared customs, so it seems Claddagh Jewellers dropped the ball yet again. I reached out to the shop, and they wanted me to return the ring; stating that they'd provide a pre-paid label (why didn't they do that when I was returning the wrong ring, which was completely their mistake?). So basically, they want me to return the ring, trusting that after they screwed up twice, this time they'll get it right. If I do that, they will have my money and the ring I purchased and I will be left with nothing except a very bad taste in my mouth over the whole ordeal, and no shred of hope that I will get the proper ring that I ordered. There are many purveyors of Claddagh rings in Galway; I wish that I had gone to Thomas Dillon.

And, some of the other designs at other shops seemed over price, and too high for my price point. But, we walked around and went to several shops, and luckily stumbled upon this *GEM*. It was a little more intimate, and NOT as much like a. Conveyer belt/assembly line-like feel. My husband and I were the only ones in the shop, and the salesperson/shop attendant was very attentive and sized my ring for me. But, yeah it's a little bit "touristy" but I also feel like it's a meaningful memento to take home. She happens to also work at a shop that sells the necklace and told my friend and I where we can get one. She even called the store for us and let us know there was only one in stock in sliver, hers that I liked was in gold. We walked over to the shop and ended up spending more time in there than we thought! Such beautiful jewelry! I almost changed my mind to a different necklace that said "Success" on it, but ended up going back to my original compass necklace which is what brought us there. My friend and I tried on various different pieces and really we could've spent all of our money here! Needless to say about 400 euro later between the two of us, we left. And she said that she would ship the compass necklace to me since I wanted gold and it wasn't at the store at the time. How fantastic! I was so happy that I could get what I wanted and I'll be eagerly awaiting it in the mail. It's important that I mention this is really a local flavor shop as everything inside is made by Ireland artisans. It's great to get authentic things while traveling rather than items that aren't made from the local area. And that it also supports those locals by spending money on their items. The doggie there is funny, kind of a ornery old bat but still sweet, she'd bark if she heard kids outside. You'd think it's fine as long as they weren't in the store but nope, keep it quiet kids! I pet her several times, so she was also very sweet. Stop in the store while in Galway! Pick up some small art, nicknacks, and especially some jewelry!! Many places we visited on the last trip offered 10K or very delicate rings but I needed a heftier ring in 14K to size better with my 6 foot plus frame. So, once again, returned to the states without one. Fast forward 3 years and my pending nuptials inspired me to search for the Claddagh I was always meant to wear. Saw their 14K men's Claddagh on-line and was familiar with Fallers as one of the preeminent jewelers for this classic design. President John F Kennedy received one of their Claddagh rings, in fact. Without seeing it on my finger to be sure it was the size and feel I wanted, I was a bit torn. I emailed to see if they had any pictures of the ring on a man's hand to get some perspective. They replied and said they did not, however, they went above and beyond to send me a few pictures of the ring on one of the male employee's finger to get a better idea. I requested for a replacement, which I was assured to get next week and I was asked to send pictures of scratches and return the previous one, which I did. I waited whole week, there was no sign of any status update regarding the request neither the cake stand arrived. I again reminded them for my request and they again assured for the same. The worst thing was I dint have any cake stand for the occasion for which I ordered it and I was still juggling with the email threads as my money was stuck. After reminding them up to a month , it arrived on 7th October.
