The original Claddagh ring shop in Galway. We came here on a Sunday in November right after they opened at noon. The rings are perfect, and the quality is amazing, but we were a little disappointed in the experience. I was hoping to hear more about the history and meaning of the ring while we were talking to the sales associate, but we were more so fitted for the ring and ushered out of the store. Perhaps during the week would be a better time to have a more personalized experience! Either way - this is the place to get your Claddagh ring in Galway!

Purchased a gold claddagh! It was everything I dreamed of since I was 15 and now 37. Rushed in as they were closing and staff was friendly and not pushy. Brought along 2 tour friends that were interested in the story behind the ring and made a purchase as well.

There are so many stores here that sell Claddagh rings and they are all geared towards tourists in this little area. I'm convinced that locals do not shop in this cobblestoned touristy place for their jewelry. The store itself is small but cute, kind of what you would see in a Christmas movie. Despite the probable overpricing, I am giving this place 4 stars because it is the only store in the cobblestoned Latin quarter that has kids sizes smaller than a size 4. We must have went to about half a dozen stores (or more), at which point I didn't even care what the price was.

We stumbled upon Thomas Dillon by happenstance, but it worked out perfectly: despite being almost 100% Irish, my mom has never owned a Claddagh ring. She initially wanted one with a stone, but even those with a little chip ran well above €500. She decided on an 18k solid Claddagh ring (approximately €450) and was eventually helped by a woman in the shop. She had to try on several rings, and it took a while since she didn't want rose gold, which the woman kept suggesting. The woman wasn't particularly friendly nor enthusiastic, but did help with sizing (Mom's fingers were swollen at the time), suggesting she go only a half size smaller, versus the full size smaller Mom thought she should get. That ended up being a very sound recommendation! Mom loves her ring because it came from the ORIGINAL Thomas Dillon, and because the band is much thicker than you find in the States. She was completely satisfied with the purchase and I know she's going to love the ring for years to come.

according to wiki - "The Claddagh ring (Irish: fáinne Chladaigh) is a traditional Irish ring given as a token of love or worn as a wedding ring. The design and customs associated with it originated in the Irish fishing village of Claddagh, located just outside the city of Galway. The ring was first produced in the 17th century during the reign of Queen Mary II, though elements of the design date to the late Roman period."... T. Dillion are the original makers of the Claddagh Ring and also the oldest jewellers in Ireland. Thomas Dillon's Claddagh Gold was established in 1750. The store also has a museum and you can look at all of the moldings and even the world's smallest claddagh ring! also on display is a small claadaugh box of princess grace kelly's! great stop if you're shopping in galway's shopping district and a must purchase if you're looking to get something from the original claddagh ring makers!

She happens to also work at a shop that sells the necklace and told my friend and I where we can get one. She even called the store for us and let us know there was only one in stock in sliver, hers that I liked was in gold. We walked over to the shop and ended up spending more time in there than we thought! Such beautiful jewelry! I almost changed my mind to a different necklace that said "Success" on it, but ended up going back to my original compass necklace which is what brought us there. My friend and I tried on various different pieces and really we could've spent all of our money here! Needless to say about 400 euro later between the two of us, we left. And she said that she would ship the compass necklace to me since I wanted gold and it wasn't at the store at the time. How fantastic! I was so happy that I could get what I wanted and I'll be eagerly awaiting it in the mail. It's important that I mention this is really a local flavor shop as everything inside is made by Ireland artisans. It's great to get authentic things while traveling rather than items that aren't made from the local area. And that it also supports those locals by spending money on their items. The doggie there is funny, kind of a ornery old bat but still sweet, she'd bark if she heard kids outside. You'd think it's fine as long as they weren't in the store but nope, keep it quiet kids! I pet her several times, so she was also very sweet. Stop in the store while in Galway! Pick up some small art, nicknacks, and especially some jewelry!! If you're able to get the Fexco Horizon card, definitely use the receipt here so you can get some of the tax back for your purchase - www.shoptaxfree.com

Was back in Ireland for my 50th birthday a few years ago and, unfortunately, didn't spend time in Galway for that trip, though I had been there for previous trips so knew of the city's reputation for being "the place" for Claddagh rings. Many places we visited on the last trip offered 10K or very delicate rings but I needed a heftier ring in 14K to size better with my 6 foot plus frame. So, once again, returned to the states without one. Fast forward 3 years and my pending nuptials inspired me to search for the Claddagh I was always meant to wear. Saw their 14K men's Claddagh on-line and was familiar with Fallers as one of the preeminent jewelers for this classic design. President John F Kennedy received one of their Claddagh rings, in fact. Without seeing it on my finger to be sure it was the size and feel I wanted, I was a bit torn. I emailed to see if they had any pictures of the ring on a man's hand to get some perspective. They replied and said they did not, however, they went above and beyond to send me a few pictures of the ring on one of the male employee's finger to get a better idea. It looked just as I was imagining and so the deal was done! I received it in plenty of time before my wife and I got married and I have received so may compliments on it. Very pleased with the quality and service!

I waited whole week, there was no sign of any status update regarding the request neither the cake stand arrived. I again reminded them for my request and they again assured for the same. The worst thing was I dint have any cake stand for the occasion for which I ordered it and I was still juggling with the email threads as my money was stuck. After reminding them up to a month , it arrived on 7th October.
