I felt like a criminal walking into the store. I walked around and if you're in the market for yarn and other types of sewing products this is your place but I finally located the radio controlled hobby parts which are located behind the counter where they are completely in accessible to the general public. It is a very small selection of radio controlled parts and almost 0 accessories from what I could see 15 feet away. I asked if they kept any vehicles in stock and the answer was no when I asked about parts she did not seem to know what type of parts that they actually carried but was sure that they did not carry parts for any type of radio controlled rock crawlers. He would be lucky probably to find stuff for your simple Traxxas car like a slash. I have high hopes for a radio controlled hobby store which is not much more than a quilting store with a closet full of parts for one or two cars. Sad times.

During our visit we were 5 minutes late therefore we didn't get to tour the Route 66 Museum but from what we could see by glancing in it did look like a really good museum for kids to visit. If you do arrive late there are beautiful trains across the street and which the kids can go up and look in and take pictures with. The gift shops were really cute and had a variety of items for adults and kids to select from. Overall I would say this is a nice little spot for you to stop in and visit if you're touring Route 66.

From there, I spied 66 Trains in a small building sharing the parking lot with Carl's. Score! While my wife went to Carl's, I went in to the train store. Inside I met the proprietor Ben who is super friendly, knowledgeable, and generous. It's a small store, but it's got enough to get a person started or progressing along in the hobby. If you're thinking of taking your hobby to the next level (like converting from DC to DCC), Ben appears to be willing and able to discuss the merits of such a decision, the nuts and bolts of doing so, and I'm sure would be able to special order whatever you might need to grow your involvement in the hobby. I took Ben's recommendation on a pack of HO-scale couplers, picked out a used HO-scale coal tender from among a box of used rolling stock (all priced very fairly), one of each of some impulsive-buy honey sticks on the counter and a Tootsie pop for my sweet tooth. Ben only charged me for the couplers and tender and gifted me the sweets even though they were marked with a price per stick. This unplanned stop made my day! Good to meet you, Ben! Many of the rocks were collected locally by Club members or donated to the Club. Kathy was volunteering during our visit.
