clare Close is extremely rude and very ignorant. She medically misdiagnosed my son . we had kidney stones in March at a 6 mm in June she still hadn't taken them out . all she cares about is running a bunch of test for no reason . She denied my son medical care at SunRise Children Hospital his kidney stone was at 9.45 mm . he was double over in pain . Because of her ignorance my son went septic , medical shock , also a secondary infection. The stone broke off he had a massive UTI and was back up he was ambulance over to UMC . She even misdiagnosed his kidney stone . My son know has a over attack bladder because of her my son was on the verge of renal failure because of her lack of care .Her patients are actually leaving because of the lack of care and going to another doctor. read more

Unfortunately we had to reschedule son's appointment for surgery. It was a very stressful the night before so I did not get to call the office to reschedule that night. I called in the morning instead. I called the next day to reschedule but the nurse was surprisingly rude and just made me feel bad that I rescheduled last minute. Given the pandemic, you would think she would be more sympathetic. But no, instead I left the call feeling guilty that my son had a fever. Also, the nurse should've just told me that they were not going to reschedule instead of saying "I don't have the schedule so I'll let you know" and just hanging up. This was hard to believe because we were able to schedule ahead a month out. I've been waiting 2 weeks to "reschedule" and i've just decided to go to a better office. read more

First let me say Dr. Close is an absolutely amazing doctor. I loved her! My son & my daughter were both patients at her office. She's great with kids & parents. She treated me & my little ones with such patience & kindness. She actually performed a surgery on my son did an amazing job. She was so informative about everything & making sure I knew exactly what was happening to my son. I couldn't ask for more in my children's doctor. If I were rating her alone she would have 5 stars, but her staff is completely awful & my experience with them really impacted how I feel about this doctor's office. At the appointment when my son's surgery was scheduled by a nurse I asked about the copay. I was told they could not even give me an estimate for the copay at that time. So I asked if the amount was higher than a couple hundred dollars would there be a payment plan option & I was told of course there would be. I called a couple times to see if they had figured out the copay amount, but I was told no every time. A week before my son's surgery the office called me to remind me about his pre-op appointment & I asked about the copay. They told me it was around $900 & the entire amount was due the day before his surgery or it would be canceled. I asked about the payment plan & was told there was no be payment plan option for me. So I asked the girl if it was their office's policy to give such short notice about a large copay needing to be paid before a non-optional surgery. She the acted very surprised & asked if this was the first time I had been told the copay amount? I told her yes & asked if again if that was their office's policy. She didn't respond so I said if that's not your office's policy & a mistake has been made I think you guys owe me some flexibility with the payment. She then said yea understand your point this is really strange, but then a woman in the background snapped at her & she said she needed to connect me to someone else. The woman I was connected to immediately said we've followed office policy. It's our policy to inform patients about the copay a week before the surgery so the amount is accurate & won't change. She then said there would be no payment plan option & if I wasn't prepared enough to pay for my son's non-optional surgery she had no problem canceling it for it me. She then went on to say that all the parents she has ever dealt with have educated themselves on their children's insurance & figure out the copays on their own & she found it shocking I hadn't taken the time to do that for my child. I told her that I didn't appreciate the way she was talking to me & it was not helpful to the situation to imply I'm a bad parent. I do know my child's copays for a lot things, but expecting me to figure out the copay for a pretty uncommon surgery doesn't seem right. Also acting like a week notice to pay $900 is not even a little surprising isn't helpful either. Luckily I can afford to pay it, but it's shocking your office expects people to be able to do that b/ I'm sure lots of people wouldn't be able to & that's extremely unfair when you've been told the surgery isn't optional. She condescendingly said I'm sorry if I've offended you. It's just been my experience that parents figure out the copay amount for surgeries themselves. Also most people have no problem paying their copays. At my son's post op appointment I was told we owed nothing, but a few months later I got a bill for $200 & I found out that "accurate" copay was actually just an estimate. Despite the office staff I would still recommend Dr. Close like I said before she is amazing just be prepared to deal with the office staff. My daughter unfortunately has been having some urinary pain and after visiting our primary doctor, with no significant improvement, we decided to go to a Urologist. Since she's under 18 we were told she needed to see a Pediatric Urologist. We were greeted by the friendly front staff and as soon as we were done with the new patient forms, we were brought back to the exam room. Soon the Advanced NP, came in, and started her interview process, read through past medical reports, etc. We immediately felt her compassion and understanding in my daughter's ongoing UTI pain. She was thorough and went over many possible reasons to explain her discomfort. Without judgements or being too pushy, she gently explained her recommendations and advice, going over a healthier route than just more antibiotics, wanting more than a band-aid fix with pills. We will return in 6 weeks for a follow up, but felt our 1.5 hour appointment, we had her undivided attention and genuine concern. Was very impressed. read more

Our pediatrician recommended Dr Close for our son. I highly recommend this doctor to everyone. The staff is sweet, caring, punctual and very efficient. They explained everything to us very thoroughly. Our son had surgery on a Friday and the staff was available to us over the weekend for any and all questions at any time. I am a mother of nine children, the last of which was born four weeks ago. He was circumcised by my pediatrician, but formed a small skin bridge as he healed. Dr. Close didn't know our family at all, yet the staff spent time on the phone listening to my concerns, and then proceeded to fit my baby and I in for a same day appointment. I was worried he would need to undergo surgery under general anesthesia to repair the skin bridge. Dr. Close listened to my concerns, examined my baby closely, and was able to correct the problem in her office within minutes. With nine kids, I see a lot of doctors. The service here is absolutely horrific. Rude receptionists. They tell you to do all this stuff (x-rays, laxatives for months,prescription, etc) then you schedule a follow up and they don't schedule you for a month out. From that time, until the day of his surgery around 3 months and beyond to the post surgical recovery period, the follow up and patient education were impeccable. They kept us updated at every turn. Overall I was pleased with Dr Close and the outcome of my sons surgical procedure. My issue is with all the staff. While everyone was very kind, I felt I was ignored from the very beginning. Pre-surgery consult I told the nurse my son was getting over a cold, she said no problem. Two phone calls to follow up before the surgery, I mentioned again the cold and it was dismissed. Day of surgery...I told the nurses and again was told no problem. It wasn't until speaking to the anesthesiologist that thankfully I again mentioned the end of the cold and everything stopped. She immediately called to confirm with Dr Close on how to proceed, which they agreed it would be safest to rescheduled. If you truly listened to me from the beginning we wouldn't have had to go through all of that. On top of this, the front desk double charged me for the procedure (which they make you pay upfront). I had to wait months until it was resolved. I wouldn't use this office again unless I truly had to. Although I think Dr Close did a great job, I was very disappointed in her staff. read more

Was recommended to her by my sons pediatrician and a family member to get a surgery done for my son and I decided to go ahead with it and have her preform it! She's amazing the nurses are amazing I had to contact them twice outside of the office hours after my sons surgery to make sure he was ok! The nurses quickly responded and one time the dr herself called me. The nurse noticed he had a rash and sent over some prescriptions right away! Good dr and good nurses! Very hands on and they make sure you are comfortable and understand everything you need to! The only down side is both locations have very small waiting rooms with limited seating. Thank you dr close for taking care of my son! My son healed well and we see the dr again within the week for her to check up on him. Also when my son had his first follow up His bandage had already fallen off but they wanted to make sure it looked ok anyways we literally walked into the office was taken right back for literally two mins and sent on our way and the dr herself didn't even see my son and I didn't really feel too comfortable with that... read more

My 3 year old son was referred to Dr Close's office. I was immediately impressed with how fast we could get an appointment with her and how fast surgery was scheduled. Their office is simply amazing. They treat you and your family as if you were their only patient. Nurse Linda explains every single detail of the surgery so you as a parent understand it and can be prepared. She will answer all of your questions and make sure you know your child is in the best hands. I can't say enough about all of Dr Close's staff. The surgery staff was excellent and made our son so comfortable. Dr Close did an amazing job with the surgery and the results are insanely good. We really liked this doctor and her staff. They were nice, upbeat, clean, ready for our appointment, and they explained everything in an easily digestible manner. Really, this medical office delivered a great experience. But they are extremely expensive. We saw the doctor for 20 minutes and her assistant for another 15 minutes. The cost was $500! There were no procedures or other expenses beyond just their time. $500!!!! I'm still trying to figure it out. read more

This review is long overdue, I brought my 6 year old son here for a consult in regards to one of his testicles. Check in was interesting, receptionist was praising how great the Dr. is and then signed us in. Then, nurse Linda took us to the consult room, where started to praise how people from all over the country come and see Dr. Close. Then the very next thing she did was draw a diagram of ovaries and testicles and how they develop, which had nothing to do with my child's consult. After waiting for 15-20 minutes, Dr.Close finally comes to the consult room. She spent only 8 minutes examining my child and then recommended surgery on both testicles. I did not feel comfortable, with her Bedside Manner and quickly diagnosing surgery. Also, she did charge us $375 for the 8 minute consult. She has a very small waiting room, as we were leaving not only the waiting room was packed but there were patients outside the door in the hallway. The receptionist explained that Dr.Close was on vacation and now she was trying to get everyone in. In my opinion this was very unprofessional, specially when we paid $375 for 8 minute consult. Anyways, I set up a consult with another urologist in town, they actually examined my son throughly and spend a good 45 minutes with us and told us that everything is fine with my child and would not recommend any surgery. Parents beware, if you get bad vibes about this practice, seek a second opinion as I did. I feel like her office was trying to make up for income loss during her vacation by packing the patients in and recommending unnecessary expensive surgical treatment. read more
