Very cold . The first dip was tough ! Later once you get use of it , it felt a bit better . Pathway was a bit crazy , in some places .it is about a 2 mile walk but we just went not too far : .. the lower and middle falls is also accessible from car parking lots outside . Parking is outside and sometimes you have to park 5-8 mins away from the falls . Not much of restrooms around . Lots of dogs in the water :) It was an amazing tint though ! Loved it . 5 stars !

If you are looking to hike and summit Mount Killington, Bucklin Trail is a wonderful option. Much…read moremore of a traditional hike (as opposed to climbing the ski trails on the resort), the path is well-marked and well-maintained. It is approximately 7.5 miles round trip to the summit and back. It is marked with blue blazes that are easy to follow. To find the trailhead, you must turn down Wheelerville Road off Route 4... keep in mind that this is an unpaved road. After approximately 4 miles, you will reach a sharp turn in the road. There is a turnoff to the left with a decent sized area for parking. The trail begins here and remains relatively flat for almost 2 miles. It follows Brewers Brook for some time, with a couple of bridge crosses over its rocky waters. After the initial 2 miles, the trail begins to climb more steeply until it joins the Appalachian and Long Trail (follow the white blazes for this section). Along this section is Cooper Lodge, a refuge for backpackers... built in 1939, it is the highest shelter on the Long Trail. Unfortunately it was covered in graffiti (I mean really... who brings spray paint 4,000 feet up a mountain?). To end the hike you scramble up the last and steepest part of the climb, emerging from the treeline to a panoramic view of the surrounding Green Mountains. It took about 3.5-4 hours of actual trekking to complete the hike. I am not a fast hiker by any means and took several breaks along the way (especially as it got steep!). Beware of the black flies that swarm in the spring/early summer. Overall, I was very pleased with this hike. Waterfalls, rivers, bridges, panoramic views. Doesn't get better than that!

Table Rock faces the Bellows Falls are from New Hampshire, just across the Connecticut River. We're in our 60s and needed to stop a few times on the way up, but it was never too steep or treacherous, just a long steady hike. You want bring good hiking shoes with serious treads. No fees. Dogs allowed.

Phenomenal trail!! Definitely in my top 5 fave hikes - especially for the fall colors (my visit was…read morein early October)!! And it's a killer workout too! The view from the top is breathtaking- but not for the faint of heart - I have a fear of heights and it took me a while to work up the nerve to go sit on the edge lol! AllTrails has this trail labeled as "moderate" - but it was insanely muddy and very wet when I hiked it - took me ages and totally wore me out - so in those conditions I'd call it moderate-hard. And also with the rock scrambling at the top - it can be quite difficult. Very steep and especially narrow at the top - can be dangerous if you're not careful. I did a total of 2 miles round trip - it's an out and back trail. In those 2 miles, my tracker showed an 800 foot elevation gain so it's definitely a butt burner. And along the trail there are numerous areas of rock scrambling (some are very steep) and stream crossings during the wet season - get ready to be covered in mud lol! You will definitely need decent hiking shoes - and poles would've been so helpful I think! There were quite a few other hikers around. The trails are very well marked with colorful tree badges - but in some spots between the markers, I needed my trail map bc the ground was covered in leaves and mud and it wasn't as obvious. Once you get to the top of Table Rock, the stunning view will absolutely take your breath away! It's a sweeping vista of the entire forest area with the lake and resort below to the left and the long stretch of road through the park to the right - perfect for taking in all the colorful autumn splendor!! The top is a long, very narrow and flat tableau. It seems pretty stable - but has extremely steep (and deadly!) drop offs either side and no safety rails or fencing or anything so be aware. Drones aren't allowed in the park (according to the State Park website) but someone was flying one and buzzing us closely at the top which made it very distracting and scary unfortunately. Dogs are allowed - there were many on the trail and at the top. Parking is a small dirt lot pull out on the side of the road at the trailhead - Google maps took me right to it (just put in Table Rock Trailhead). It's located in Dixville Notch State Park (you can see my review of that for more detailed info). The park doesn't have bathrooms that I could find. And I think it's free. I didn't see any fee areas and their website doesn't list it as a fee area.

Some areas of the trail are fairly eroded, but there were crews there working to protect the trail and divert water. Even with a full parking lot, the hike was long enough that we didn't see people very often along the way. We saw some families with little ones, but none near the top, so I'm not sure how far they made it. This wouldn't be an easy hike carrying kids, and I don't think most kids under 10 would stick it through to the end. A few portions are pretty steep, so it'd be tough on little legs. The one downside is that apparently Dacy Clearing Road isn't always fully open to vehicles, so rather than parking closer to the trailhead, you may have a few extra miles to walk on a gravel road. This takes your roundtrip from approximately 5 miles to roughly 8.

The hike to the top can be long or short, depending on your skill level, and how you want it to be. If you choose to do a longer hike, you can park at the Hogtown parking lot at the bottom. If you choose the shorter path ( 1.8 mi) to the summit, you must drive further down a dirt path (if the gate to go further is open) for another mile or so and park at the Dacy clearing. The hike itself is not bad. It can be a little rocky and steep, but if you're in average shape, you should be okay. It is for the average to moderate hikers. There were a lot of families with smaller children and dogs when I went. It's definitely something a family can enjoy. If you go on a nice day, I would recommend bringing lunch or snacks with you. It was really nice to eat with a view of the Adirondacks, and Lake George.

Rating 4.7 Came to…read morevisit for a short walk to the thundering brook falls. It's located in killington VT. Once we arrive we parked on the aide of street as designated parking is very small. The area is connected to other hiking trails as well but the fall trail is just 0.5 mile. The trail itself is maintained well and has solid wooden path and some gravel along the last part of the trail. We changed into hiking shoes but was probably not necessary. There are lots of flowers along the way and as we get close to the fall we go into area with lots of shade, trees and moss/rocks. The fall itself is very pretty and the water runs down to the river at the bottom. It took us about 20min roundtrip. It's a nice and easy walk that are kids and dog friendly and provide pretty view. A must stop for all visitors coming to Vermont.

Perfect for families but be careful to wear sneakers as some areas are slippery! We brought our newborn and it wasn't too bad! Just go slow if you're also with elderly parents. Fun place!

Pond Loop trail on the Equinox property was not quite what I expected but enjoyable nonetheless. I…read moreended up walking from the Equinox resort to this loop trail and back and the overall round trip took me less than one hour with a decent pace. Seeing the trail map, I expected to be walking the perimeter of the pond at water's edge the entire time, but this was not the case. The majority of the trail does not have a view of the water. Only at the very end, if walking counter-clockwise, is there a small section where the pond pavilion is located, can you walk up to the water. Also take note, there isn't any public parking for this trail so I would recommend coming on foot or even biking up to the entrance. Overall, a pleasant nature walk, though it's more woodland trail than waterside promenade.
