Dear Clarion Hotel, You are showing your age. The 1970's furniture, crystal chandeliers, the mosiac glass fireplace are in desperate need of replacing. Plus, of the Covid restriction signs, the 6ft distance stickers, the FILTHY carpets, garbage in the halls. The sign by the elevator stating "pardon our dust as we're remodeling" is an understatement. I'm being generous with the 3 stars because the room was decent and the bathroom was clean. Addendum : 1. The slamming doors (granted by other guests) is not conducive to falling asleep. 2. The light shining from underneath the door at night, SpaceX can see! 3. Paper thin towels. 4. Attempted to call front desk, the phone didn't work as it wasn't plugged into the wall jack, which is obstructed by the furniture. Again, for the price, it's not a horrendous place. The hotel just needs some TLC and a really good cleaning. read more

Despite being in the midst of a remodel...hotel room was very clean; only missing an easy chair or something like (there is plenty of extra room). Breakfast was typical but sufficient -- sign for fresh made omelettes but no one cooking . Bed was comfy; great shower; big tv. read more

The Good: The staff were courteous and helpful. The pool was great! Our request to change rooms was handled quickly. Proximity to stores, gas, restaurants was convenient. The breakfast offered was tasty and fresh, and replenished often. The Bad: During our week-long stay, we never knew if/when our room was going to be serviced. We didn't mind coming back to our unmade bed, but we often had to ask for basics like toilet paper, and we took out our own garbage multiple times. We had no sign or notices regarding housekeeping in our room to let us know the policy. Upon arrival, we checked in and went to our "accessible room" which I paid more for. The first thing we saw was 5-6 construction workers standing right outside our window. Now, we were aware that this hotel is being renovated but we couldn't see having to keep our shades drawn for the entire week. So we requested another room and were given one with no problems. (It turned out that this 2nd room was not accessible, but we made it work.) But the workers so close to the usable rooms wasn't great. Room issues: Our microwave turntable did not turn. We still used it. The floor lamp had no lightbulbs. We didn't use it. The door to our room made a loud creaking noise whenever we shut it- kinda deafening at 7am. We did like the size of the room, and the bed was comfortable. Other: our 2nd Floor ice machine worked intermittently so occasionally we had to go to a different floor to get our ice for the day/evening. Not a huge deal, but you just kinda hope that you don't meet up with any strangers in the hallway wearing your pajamas. Noise: Again, we were aware the there is ongoing construction currently, and while we understand that this must happen to improve the customer experience in the future, there were a few times when it seemed a bit rude or unnecessary. One evening we had gotten back to our floor, turned the corner to our room and right in front of our door was a pile of tools and workers knelt over fixing something. Going in and out for ice or supplies was quite awkward and we felt like we were in THEIR way, apologizing and tiptoeing around them repeatedly. I feel this particular fix could have been taken down the hall or perhaps done later. I asked the front desk what time the noise usually abated, and was told 8pm. I was surprised they stop at that late of an hour. All in all, we enjoyed our stay at the Clarion. We look forward to our next visit and we hope that the renovations are complete soon! read more

Buyer beware - in every sense of the word. The bad: they don't advertise & no one bothers to tell you, until checking in, the place is undergoing massive renovations. Wires hanging from ceilings (inside & out), plaster dust everywhere, outlets not working, hallways adorned with carpet underlayment, and - oh, did I mention they start inside construction work a little after 7 a.m.? Moreover, while they advertise as "pet friendly," there's no outdoor exercise area, no grass, nowhere for pets to relive themselves. If you pound on the front desk, they'll reluctantly refund the pet fee, having done nothing to earn it. The good: ice maker works. I'll never repeat this experience with any Clarion operation, anywhere. Any company thinking it's a solid business model to mislead the public and lure customers in by misrepresenting the conditions and services offered, is not a company I'll do business with. We have stayed here before but it is the very last time, the big lady working here on Fridays is incredibly lazy, incompetent but most of all just rude. The place is outdated, its old and not well maintained, but they have a good breakfast which has been the reason including convenience to come back, with the behavior of this front oddity we won't ever come back. Im very unhappy with this hotel. To start, the woman at the front desk upon check in was very rude to me. Then supposedly this room comes with free hot breakfast, but when I went to feed my kid there was nothing put out. This is annoying when you have a child you need to feed. On top of that, the noise at night was INSANE. All we heard all night was doors shutting and people talking loud. My toddler was woken up multiple times. And this hotel is not cheap, I expected way more. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the bed was comfortable and the room was clean. DO NOT COME HERE. read more

Booked based on these reviews, but honestly stere clear. **PET ROOM REVIEW** The pet rooms are all the way at the end, by an entrance and right up against the parking lot (our window looked into people's cars eek). No privacy and loud. There was also a group of men barbecuing right by the entrance so our room smelled like BBQ....why I do not know. The furniture was also beat up and paint was chipping. Since the pet rooms area at the end, the WIFI is very weak and my phone couldn't even connect. We asked to change rooms, and the poor front desk woman was working solo/overwhelmed and brushed us off. Parking lot was concerning too- a lot of construction workers hanging around. As a group of women traveling, these random groups of men BQQ-ing and hanging around isn't ideal. I'm not sure why our experience was so different from the other reviewers, but we won't be staying here again. read more

Surprised at the prices of the hotels in this area, I'm glad I read the previous yelp review and used the hotel website to get a AAA discount. Made about a $10 difference. The area has a lot of hotels and restaurants to choose from. This hotel, with three floors, has a gym and pool. The rooms are clean and roomy. The bad part, the walls are super thin. To the point where I heard the entire conversation of the gentleman next to me. He ended his call and the hotel was quiet for the rest of the night. Hot breakfast in the morning. Eggs are not fresh. There's a waffle maker. Some healthy options, plain oatmeal, yogurt, fruit and cereal. Norma, the hotel staff overseeing the breakfast area was a delight to talk to. read more

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I check every room I stay in for bed bugs and thankfully I checked the bed here. I found gross stains and several bedbugs. Woman at the front counter was rude and never once apologized. Avoid this trashy place! Update 8/21/19: The manager called saying they didnt find any bed bugs despite my proof (see picture below) and threatened to reverse my refund (since I didnt stay there) when I said I wouldn't take my review down. read more

The bathroom had a fan that was not controlled by a switch, and it ran nonstop and was very loud all night long. We stopped at the desk and told them about it when we went out to dinner. The staff said they would see if someone could look at it. No one ever came. So I had a terrible night of sleep. The next morning when we checked out, I asked about it again and the staff member checked a notebook to see if it had been recorded the night before and the complaint had not even been turned in. After taking a shower, the carpet outside of the bathroom was wet about a 2 ft.² area adjacent to where the tub was on the other side of the wall. The carpet was still wet in the morning when we checked out. I also mentioned that to the staff to add to her notebook. The hotel needs some updating. They did serve fresh made omelettes for the breakfast in the morning. read more

I am absolutely befuddled to read even one bad review of this hotel. Particularly for what I paid I think this may be the biggest bargain no a hotel I have EVER stayed in. First, the king bed was literally as nice and as comfy as ANY I have ever experienced at any price, it was simply heavenly. The room was about as perfectly clean as could be. Most hotels these days do a breakfast, typically make your own waffles, eggs from a container....NOT here, they had an omelet station and a nice lady making made-to-order omelets that were great. They did have the make-your-own waffles and biscuits and gravy (which were perfectly fine), and cereal and all the ordinary accouterments, but the omelets were special, I would not have gotten a better one anywhere. The staff were polite and upon check-out the desk attendant encouraged me to have an omelet. If I am ANYWHERE close to Rock Springs, this is where I will be. read more

Staff is very nice. Room was roomy and comfortable. Appreciated a HOT breakfast after enduring many hotels with just muffins/yogurt. Parking lot was roomy enough that my husband didn't turn it into a Demolition Derby with the utility trailer he'd picked up the day before and had little experience driving, let alone parking. My only complaint is that the back door to the hotel was never locked. I only know this because I took my service dog out that door to relieve her. read more

Amazing stopover! After triple price Jackson we headed here for price relief and we're pretty tired by then. This hotel has clean puffy beds, clean modern bathrooms and everything works! Terrible breakfast except for handcrafted omelette that make your day with cheerful workers! They even called us 15 minutes after checkout to tell us we left something behind! That's a lot for your money- they definitely try harder than the others. read more

A nice surprise on I-80 in Rock Springs, WY. The outside is nothing special but after a long day of driving we just wanted a place to stay. We got to our pet friendly 2 queen room and were pleasantly surprised at the great beds, USB ports and extra outlets. We didn't expect that from an older hotel. The room was a decent size and had a microwave, work desk, and side chair. There are plenty of restaurants and shopping within a couple blocks. Conveniently located off the interstate, also. I give the Clarion 3 stars for location, comfortable beds, and convenience at a great price. If you're on a budget, this is a great place to stop. The only thing you definitely want to request is a room away from the outside door as it is noisy when it shuts. read more

We stopped in here during our 2 week road trip and had a VERY NICE stay. The hotel looks a little outdated along with the carpet inside but don't let that deter you. The rooms are beautiful and newly remodeled. The beds were very comfortable ! Breakfast was AMAZING! Omelets made to order, waffles, cereal, muffins, sausage links, breakfast potatoes, toast. SOOOO many options. This is by far the best breakfast I've had at a hotel in a very long time. More hotels should do things like The Clarion. The pool area was really nice and the pool was even heated! They have a laundry room and even sell laundry supplies at the front desk for a very reasonable price. Plus they had quarters on hand as well! There is a Mexican restaurant inside the hotel that is open until 9pm. The staff were so friendly and nice and the food was delicious. This is a very well run motel/hotel! I paid less than half of the Holiday Inn Express rate the night before and the room, TV, air conditioning, breakfast, pool, and work out area were superior. The custom ordered breakfast omelette was an unexpected treat, as was the restaurant and bar in the hotel. The staff was uniformly well trained and friendly. My only suggestion is that the CATV have a channel guide page so you can see what channels carry certain programs. I wanted to watch the NBA final and the British Open. They had both but I had to go channel to channel to find them. This took time and when I tried to find them on the TV in the work out room I had to repeat the process. The work out room had a different TV system than the room. read more

A simple, yet elegant place to stay! Definitely worth a little bit of extra money to stay here (there's a nice AAA discount from the hotel website). The hotel was very clean, the beds comfy, and we (2 cautious females) felt safe here. The lobby was cool and the free breakfast was pretty decent! Would have loved to try the pool if we had time. The customer service at the front desk is deplorable and they screwed up the bill! The Front Desk people never smiled (not once) if you can find them at the front desk and not ignoring you from their office. They all looked incredibly annoyed and angry that an out of town customer was asking them a question. Then they screwed up the bill! I told them twice at check in that the charges needed to be on MY Discover card, not the MasterCard used for the reservation. I got waved off by the girl and she mumbled she WOULD fix it. How, without my card, I do not know! So I came back when dropping off the keys the next day and CONFIRMED with a very unpleasant and rude woman who had lines carved into her face from her perpetual frown that YES they were charging the Discover Card, my card, not my friends card who was not paying for the trip. She acted like I was the rude one making sure they were using the correct card when they hadn't been very clear the first two times I asked. Guess what? They didn't charge my Discover card. So even though I talked to them about it THREE TIMES, they did nothing, charged my friend's card (which caused issues! Thanks for screwing me over there!), and now I get to deal with the consequences. I will never go back to this place again. Otherwise it was your basic hotel room. Central air is nice but not enough pillows. And the Maid Service was very polite and helpful when I asked them for help as I really didn't want to deal with the Front Desk again. read more

This hotel is dog friendly. They changed us $25 per night. They also had a great breakfast. They have an omelet bar, bacon and sausages. It's not organic or clean eating, but it's better than most hotels. There is a fairly good Mexican restaurant attached to the hotel. read more
