The Clark Fork farmers market is one of my favorite things to do in Missoula. It's open on Saturday mornings until early afternoon during the warmer months, and it's always packed with amazing local vendors and so much good food. You'll find live music, food trucks, coffee stands, pastries, meat, salmon, fresh veggies and fruit, beautiful flowers, and even fresh milk. It's the kind of place where you can come hungry and easily spend a couple of hours wandering around. It can be a little overwhelming because a lot of the vendors carry similar items, but I usually rotate through to help support as many as I can. Vendors typically prefer cash, although some do take cards, so it's smart to bring a little of both. Also bring a bag or two because it's very easy to walk away with more than you planned. The vibe is super friendly and local in the best way, and it always feels like a snapshot of what makes Missoula so special. If you're in town on a Saturday, it's definitely worth checking out. read more

My family and I have been coming to this farmers market for years now. It's an outdoor market so it's only open in the warmer months on each Saturday. There are various vendors here and you can find so much! They sell fresh, locally grown fruit, vegetables, and flowers. You can also find items such as honey, fresh baked pastries and bread, beauty products, clothing, and much more. Food trucks are also scattered throughout so there are plenty of options. I find that most of the prices are very reasonable, even though I never mind paying more to help support a fellow Montanan. I almost always run into someone I know, and even though the market itself is rather big, it still has a small town feel to it. Make sure to bring a bag or two with you for all the goodies you buy. Parking is free on the weekends so you don't need to rush through. read more

You can find lots of fresh organic veggies here, meats free of steroid, hormones and antibiotics, great stuff. You can pick up a few bakery goodies walking around and have some dropped coffees or specialty drinks, boba milk tea, Kombucha. Lemonade, tea etc...There is a live music there too, quite good. Been to many farmers markets across the country. Unfortunately too many vendors offering the same thing - coffee, fresh produce. There wasn't a solid vendor choice for breakfast or sandwiches. The hearty options of Japanese, Vietnamese and Middle Eastern not ideal for breakfast. Definitely recommend going later for lunch. read more

I was recently in Missoula visiting family in my hometown. When we lived there, it was always a stop we had to make every Saturday-the market. We came seeking huckleberry croissants and we were very pleasantly surprised to find them again along with many of our other favorites- cheese, fresh veggies and huckleberries sold by the bag. The atmosphere at this market in particular has set the tone for any others I ever attend. While there are some amazing markets our there, this one will always be my personal favorite. We tried something new this year- pie on sticks. It was super delicious and fun to eat with the sweetness of the berry center and the perfectly gold crust. I highly recommend that anyone in the area stops by this market on Saturdays. read more

I visited the farmer's market two years ago while on vacation, and couldn't wait to come back! I moved up here for good in late September, 2016 and went to the market my first Saturday here. The variety is unbelievable! Fruits, vegetables, fresh flowers, jerky, food to eat while you're there--pizza, pastries etc; crafts, homemade lotions, soaps, leather goods, and tons more! Also, the buskers are quite good and varied. Musicians, jugglers, and a Dream Poet for Hire that will type (on an actual typewriter!) a poem for you! He wrote a lovely poem for my daughter. There are a LOT of valuable vendors at the Saturday Clark Fork farmers' market, and the number only seems to be growing. As of summer season 2016, there are a few great new spots - and some dependable veterans - that rank in a Top 5 list as must-stops whenever I am in town. 1. Kiln Breads - a new vendor, selling brick-oven sourdough breads made from organic Montana wheat. Their whole wheat sourdough was so wonderfully made that it made me question the primacy of the San Francisco Bay Area in my hierarchy of artisan bakeries. I grilled several slices of Kiln bread, anointed them with Kalispell Creamery butter and basil-infused olive oil, and then rubbed them with cloves of raw garlic. Despite the fact that we had also grilled a local grass-fed skirt steak that afternoon and were drinking a very cool reserve Cabernet Franc (from Charlottesville, Virginia of all places), it was the Kiln garlic bread that nearly stole the show. 2. the Cloven Hoof - another new vendor, a craft butcher shop housed in a portable trailer that provides ultra-high quality lamb and pork from Bitterroot Valley ranchers near Victor. We snagged an heirloom pork tenderloin, rubbed it in a dry mix of coriander, curry, dried mustard, cumin, turmeric, sage, and then grilled it over mesquite before finishing on a soaked cedar plank. Truly world-class. 3. Wuester Brothers honey - wildflower and knapweed. Wow. They are STILL the best honey makers in Western Montana, with the best raw, unheated, unfiltered honeys available. From dark and spicy wildflower to creamy, sweet knapweed and clover spreadable honey, there is never a bad batch from Wuester Brothers bees. 4. Bitterroot Bison - their classically flavored bison jerky is outstanding. Simply perfect road trip food. They also have choice cuts of locally raised grass-fed bison in season; the bison sirloin steaks are especially good. 5. Deluge Farms - amazing heirloom organic produce and farm fresh organic eggs, including some of the best mixed greens, radishes, cucumbers, arugula, herbs, kales, chards, and onions you'll ever find this far north of the 45th parallel. This is some of the best veg around and highly prized by local chefs in Missoula. By coming early to the market, you can get the best stuff for home! There are several other really fine vendors, especially later in the summer when tomatoes, peppers, melons, corn, squash, cherries, and peaches start to come on-line. And there are plenty of food stalls and coffee stands and bakeries if you're looking for more instant gratification than meats, honeys, and fresh vegetables. But for me, when I think of the Clark Fork farmers' market, these are the places that my heart (and taste buds) desires. read more

From KC where I thought we had a great market. It doesn't even compare. This is a must visit. Go hungry too! The food served there is unreal. We fed ourselves and bought the most amazing dog bones from a butcher at the market. Our dog lost his mind!! read more
