I tackled the whole dadgum 7.2-mile circuit on a day so gorgeous the sun felt like a warm rock on a soggy pelt. If you are a connoisseur of fine water engineering like yours truly, this place is pure, unadulterated heaven. Ten waterfalls. Ten! And humans just let all that pristine, rushing current flow freely without a single lodge or dam blocking it! It's wildly irresponsible from a construction standpoint, but sweet mother of willow bark, is it breathtaking. The best part? Trudging underneath those massive basalt cliffs at South Falls and North Falls. Feeling the thunder of the water vibrating right through my webbed feet was a spiritual experience. The mist keeps the ferns lush and the air tasting crisp and clean. Final Verdict: 5 out of 5 peeled willow sticks. If you have webbed feet, boots, or just a deep appreciation for top-notch hydrology, you need to hike this loop immediately. Just try to ignore the urge to build a giant wall across the river. It's hard, but the views are worth it.

Also helps to get there early as you can. Trails were wet from recent showers but well-maintained and not slick. If it's really been raining and the falls are pumping, be prepared for standing water behind a couple of the falls. (Luckily someone had put out small stones to balance on, but from the looks of their wet shoes many people were unlucky in their attempts to cross.) Walking sticks can be helpful in the steeper grades. It now costs $10 to park unless you've got an annual pass

The sites: of you want to be close in to the action, the sites are close together like your typical state park. If you want some privacy, you camp up the hill where the spaces are a little more private. We stayed in a 10 Person yurt with 10 people and had room to spare. The yurt and site were clean and well maintained. Oh, and there's a little shed with wood if you didn't bring your own, so it doesn't have to be carted up the hill, you just pay for what you use. 2. The facilities: I was not looking forward to port-a-potty camping. I was pleasantly surprised to find the facilities in clean condition. Clearly they are cleaned frequently, and always stocked with TP. 3. The Adventures: there's a potential for dropping a lot of money on all the extras. But the activities we were able to do with the $20 wrist bands kept us easily busy all weekend. We went back to the rock wall and archery range several times. We also did a zip line tour (my first. I was terrified), and it was a blast and totally worth the money. And the guides were amazing, which brings me to my last point.... 4. THE PEOPLE!!! In my experience, places like this have people working for them who are obviously sick of all the kids and forcing a smile to keep their jobs. Not at Camp Dakota. From the moment we got there, we were welcomed, joked with, and I felt that the family friendly atmosphere was genuine. They all made an attempt to learn our names and ask if we were having fun. They are also clearly trained in safety for all the adventures they run. They really made this trip for us. Special shout out to Juggernaut, Bumblebee, Tumbleweed, Rerun, Care Bear, and most especially PEACOCK!! Y'all are amaze balls. Oh and ps. You can have pizza delivered to your camp site. This cheer gym accepts athletes with zero skills all the way through adult levels. They have a very successful competitive program, a prep program for those who just want to dip their toes in, a recreational program that lasts a few months. They also offer private lessons, weekly/monthly classes, open gyms and birthday parties. The facility is fresh with new equipment too. The best part is you can watch your child on the screen from the parent viewing area.

The route we took was…read moremostly further away from the water and hence not a whole lot to watch on the way but there were multiple waterfalls and creeks etc that you can take a break at and enjoy the cold water and the Sun.Part of the hike was closed which was disappointing but we did the whole 7 mile through a different route .Wished we could have seen the mining villages .It took us approx 1.5 hours to get there from Portland .Parking is limited however since we went on a Weekday it wasn't a problem for us . Also , the crowds were thin , so we really had a great time.

Luck we made it before they hit maximum. Three miles and a half makes for a long hike but well worth it. The trail follows the creek and is actually the service road for Jawbone Flats. It's an easy hike up and down both ways. You are rewarded with beautiful cool dip in the crystal clear pools. Alternatively there are two hiking trails, one on each side of the creek, you can venture on through this beautiful forest. Afterward we went to the local restaurant at the highway. They had good food and beer.

They have a really nice and clean restroom- that is stocked with enough paper towels and toilet paper as well as air fresheners and feminine products: tampons/ pads if those are important to you. They have gear for sale. There are a few backdrops for photos that are in my opinion cute and represent Oregon City! Customer service was amazing. Jr was operating the business that current day. He was pretty knowledgeable of the business, how to throw axes & he even supported helping throw them & showing us how. Overall this is a great place to either bring the kiddos ages 12 and up, great for teenagers, adults and date night or even a work event. They also play music.
