Now called ogunquit trading post. Definitely the most reasonably priced souvenir store I came across in my New England travels.

When I'm traveling, the one thing that is always so difficult to find is postcards. I was excited to see this store on US 1; it looked like a dream come true. I got my fill of postcards and couldn't leave without buying a jar of made in Maine with Maine blueberries... Blueberry Jam. If you go to only one souvenir shop, make it this one. It is HUGE. It is THOROUGH. It is reasonably priced. Having been around since 1952, it is more-or-less an attraction in its own right. You can address all of your needs for wooden lobsters with "Maine" written on them, sweatshirts and kitchen towels with "Maine" written on them, ornamental lobster buoys in multiple sizes including as bird houses, scented candles, colored rocks, plushy lobsters, and pretty much anything that 14-year-old you would have wanted to buy. Some of the lobsters and miniature boats and so on are very similar to what you'll find in Connecticut or Maryland or Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. If you're not going any of those places, you probably don't care. If you are... well, heck, it's a COLLECTION now. Buy another miniature boat. Take home a plushy lobster to cuddle. As souvenir stores go, it's fairly spacious, which is a plus in these troubled times. read more

I came here with my sister's family on a recent trip to Maine, and the staff was incredibly kind and patient with my young niece and nephew, who were extremely excited and energetic during our visit to the store. We all bought some fun stuff, the kids ran up and down the aisles screaming like lunatics, and then the staff gave us two extra-shiny pennies for the kids to use in the penny-flattening machine outside. It had been a rough day for the kids, so we extra appreciated the staff's kindness. read more

I do not recommend this place!!!! I would leave a negative amount of stars if that was a option. This business is AKA Ohunquit Trading Post. First let me say I too am a small business owner and I pride myself on supporting other small businesses. I also pride myself on providing EXCELLENT customer service and expect the same in return. Although I do not believe the concept of the "customer is always right", I do believe there is never a excuse to get loud or rude with a customer who is being nothing but calm cool and respectful. I also believe in going above and beyond. With that said here is my experience from today 7/8/21 My family and I stoped in to buy some trinkets for our family back home. One of the items I chose was Maine made maple syrup. It was the only one of its size left on the shelf, with many other sizes and jams available. This particular bottle had a astonishing low price tag of $7 and change. I KNOW the price of real maple syrup. I buy it by the gallon back home. That's why I was quick to snatch up this amazing bargain!!! I wasn't sure why the ultra low price tag, but being it was the only one on the shelf in it's size with empty space surrounding this particular size, I wasn't surprised to see no others of this size available. If there were more I would have bought 10 at that price! ... Regardless of why, the sticker (the only published price anywhere) read $7 and change. We found a few other items and headed to check out. A very nice and polite older woman rang us out. She commented on the price of syrup being low and said she had to go to her boss to question the price. The boss, a tall skinny older man, came to the check out area pissed off, acting as if I was inconveniencing him. He sternly shouted "this is NOT the price" and I very politely said, "ok but you should honor the price tag" . He then marched over to the counter directly in front of me and my daughter and began yelling at me... "I SHOULD HONOR THE PRICE?'!?! I DON'T THINK SO!!" Is what he angrily shouted at me. I kept my cool and said "you or your employee priced that bottle. It is the last on the shelf. You need to honor price as marked" He continued shouting at me telling me how expensive syrup is. I told him I was well aware and again he or his employee marked the price and that's not my fault. He responded with "no you, a dishonest person swapped stickers" I was in shock!!! Who the hell does he think he is to make such a accusation?!?! My daughter told him there was no need to be rude. He proceeded to tell me how his family has owned that business for x amount of years.... I cut him off , told him I too was a small business owner and I don't appreciate being accused of such things. He stomped away taking the syrup with him. At that point I should have left my remaining items on the counter and walked out but I felt bad for the older lady cashing me out. She was literally shaking!!! She apologized three times for his inappropriate behavior snd said how embarrassed she was. I just told her it wasn't her fault he was such a miserable A-hole. I was scared she would get in trouble for needing to void my sale or something so I paid the $20 for my remaining items rather than leaving empty handed. Upon exiting the store a younger lady stopped us outside and introduced herself as "Emily a family member". She stated how she had no idea the old man spoke to customers like that and apologized for his treatment towards me. While I appreciated the sentiment, it doesn't change anything . These tshirt and trinket stores are a dime a dozen in the beach tourist areas and it is all too easy to go elsewhere and buy the same exact items from someone who appreciates your business! If this family business is to continue for x amount more years then I suggest the old man retire. He should not be allowed to interact with customers being this is how he treats them. read more

I've only ever known this place as 10,000 gifts. I've been stopping in here while on vacation for like 20 years. Yes, there is at least 10,000 gifts, and It's very touristy, but I love it. Taffy, clothing, syrup, toys, jewelry, trinkets, souvenirs, etc. Prices being high are the only negative. There is so much stuff packed into this place, it's unreal, with surely something Maine inspired for everyone. Definitely worth a stop, if it's your first time to Maine. read more

My husband got to make his first trip to the Ogunquit Trading Post during our Fall 08 Foliage Tour; we brought his parents here during the second week they joined us! I first visited the Trading Post back in 1988. Great place to buy reasonably priced soveniers and postcards. Here's what their website says: Since 1952, the Logan Family's Ogunquit Trading Post is known for the largest selection and lowest prices in the New England seacoast area. Now you can shop online! Moccasins, turquoise jewelry, hot pads, Maine coast knick knacks, some food items, shells, Old Salts figurines, lobster buoys, etc. A little hokey but a fun place to look around and get some good buys on gifts to take back home. read more

Having grown up in Wells and since moved, I visit this place when I am in the state. It has been around forever. In fact my deceased grandma used to work here back when she was younger. Prices are great. Souvenir shoppers will not be disappointed!!!! read more

This is the perfect place to go if you're looking to get a bunch of little trinkets for loved ones on your way back home after a fantastic weekend in Maine.... Accept for when the young cashier is too busy checking out your girlfriend to remember to put all of the $65 worth of stuff you just bought in the bag for you... After wandering around the same section of the store as her for 20 minutes pretending to be tidying things up. Of course I didn't make this connection until 3 days later, when I went to get the gifts I had bought for my family members. Several of them weren't in the bag, which I hadn't opened since the day I shopped there. This included the shot glass he conveniently said he really liked when we were cashing out. Extremely disappointing after putting a lot of thought into each gift. Don't even bother having them wrap everything for you! Ask for the tissue paper to wrap it yourself and check your bag when you leave! read more
