However, one inside the store, there is an overbearing, off-putting smell of patchouli. As a college student, I thought the store items were overpriced for the relatively low quality, and the clothing was not size inclusive (too many junior-sized items). The owner's unprofessional behavior is also a reason why I do not enjoy this store. I've known people who worked here, and they described what was a hostile work environment where they were subjected to verbal abuse, and I witnessed this firsthand. On one occasion, I was in line at the counter with an item in my hand, ready to make a purchase (earrings I believe?), but after hearing how rudely she spoke to an employee in front of me, I decided not to buy them. If that's how she acted in front of customers, I can only imagine how she behaves in private. The owner has been in the news for her bigoted, transphobic views, which are on display in the storefront windows. In doing this, she has clearly made a connection between her political views and her store, so this is why I find it fair to comment on them in this review. I was not a fan of this store before, but this is yet another reason not to support this business.

Though Athens and OU is a place we once gallivanted around in our younger years (and still intended to do some of), we wanted an activity that brought the small group of us even closer together. We had a group of six ladies! Living just a mere hour and a half away, I had been looking into tarot readers and mediums but was feeling overwhelmed. I decided to call Chosen Pathways on a whim for some advice! Kelly (the owner) kindly helped me arrange the PERFECT activity. She helped me with a tarot reader, a spirit painter and even provided snacks and a place for us ladies to hang out and exchange our experiences in private! It was intimate yet special beyond words. When I tell you there are things that were told that no one could have known, I mean that. It was an emotional yet such an elevating experience that none of us will ever forget and are still talking about to this day! If you are an OU Alum (which half of our group is!) OR you're visiting hocking hills with a group of close girlfriends or friends, OR have friends that just really love tarot and need a fun activity - this is it. It was cathartic, it was meaningful, it was relaxing yet so impactful. Kelly I cannot thank you enough for putting together such a meaningful few hours for us girls! And your shop was just the great addition too! We will be back!

Dairy Barn is one of the greatest collections of local flavor in Athens. It features artwork from…read morelocal painters and sculptors. The barn has many exhibits depending on the time. It's in a beautifully restored old barn. The one bad thing is the changing hours. I like art. If it's a local artist, that excites me even more. This is a good place for finding some beautiful hand crafted pieces. If you're looking for a present, they have a gift shop area. The only thing frustrating about this is figuring out when it's open. It says hours on its entrance, but it's not always correct. The artwork is worth making a trip for. I want to support the local artists, and that can be done by visiting the Dairy Barn. It has s great collection of crafts. There's an area you can buy many.

I had a wonderful experience at this gallery. It is a historic dairy barn that was almost torn down at one point, and now it houses beautiful art & craft exhibitions. Also, I am very impressed with the staff. They are very friendly, professional, and they really know how to treat their guests. They also did a fabulous job displaying all of the beadwork.
