It looks exactly the same and they have managed to keep it in good condition. It's nothing fancy but it's clean and well kept. I love that they have two kid pools, one with a bunch of fountains and that connects to slides and another that is more basic/quieter. There was plenty of seating and lots of staff/lifeguards around. They do adult swim for the last 10 min of each hour. One less star because it is very expensive for non-residents ($18 per person). My infant was free, thank goodness. I guess if I think about it that is about the cost of a movie ticket. Anyways, I will probably not be going as often as I would like because of the cost.

It's huge, multiple levels. There are at least three slides coming out from it. Lots of places for kids to climb and scurry and jump. But that part was too big for my kiddo so we went to the smaller section a few steps away. There was a structure to climb, several slides, some bars, and then even a little further away a bunch of swings. I tried to keep her from seeing the swings, to be honest, since I didn't want to have to deal with an upset kiddo when we had to leave without enough swing time. She played around a bit but didn't seem as interested in the playground. We went down a slide or two, but some of them had standing water since it has been a bit rainy recently. The playground isn't technically fenced in, but it is effectively so because it's behind the practice courts which are all fenced in. It'd be hard for your kid to get away from you. There's a parking lot for the Norridge Park District building but the neighborhood parking could be tricky, especially in the summer because there is restricted parking from Memorial Day to Labor Day (ostensibly because of the large pool structure that would keep the residents from having any parking for three months otherwise). The terrain of the park is wood chips and soil, decidedly not my favorite (maybe especially after a rain) and she got dirty pretty quick. I may bring her back when she's old enough to play on the rocket ship, but this won't be a park that we return to much if ever.

This is a cute little semi-pocket park located in downtown Winnetka, a small town right outside of…read moredowntown Chicago. It spans 1.2 acres and features a nice a very nice playground area that is on a bed of wood chips. Some of the playground equipment includes a bank of traditional/toddler swings, a merry-go-round ring, a small with a slide, a large jungle gym with slides, a suspended pebble bridge, monkey bars and a couple of slides, and a tire swing. The equipment appeared relatively new and was in excellent shape. You will also find ping pong tables, a gazebo, corn hole boards, and a bike rack with a bike maintenance station here as well. There is a lot of seating at the in the park, around the play area and the park's paved walking paths. The park's green space is decent sized and suitable for picnics, playing catch, flying a kite, or other small field activities. It had a decorated Christmas tree in the area during my visit. The park appears well maintained and was in great shape. The park does not have any restrooms, so plan accordingly. There is however, street parking available along its perimeter and a parking lot within a reasonable walking distance from the park. The park seems relatively safe, even though there was a recent incident with kids discharging a soft-projectile weapon at the park. This may not be a destination park, but is a nice park to check out and spend some time at if you are in the area. It has a nice patch of green space, which is prime real estate in any downtown area, lots of seating, a water fountain, ample parking, many public transit options, and well maintained.

There's also events and programs. A popular thing here is the beach. It's a park right next to the lake so of course it would have one. This isn't that good of one but the area is beautiful and there's some great views. Be sure to go to the pond in the middle. Seems to be the main centerpiece of the park. It also has a fountain. There's of course lots of athletic fields including for soccer. Also plenty of walking paths so you can get exercise. There's a snack window by the beach so you can get things like ice cream and junk. For sure it's a great place when the weather is warmer and you can hang around. It's located by the lake. There's lots of programs for children and families such as music and theater.

Warren Park is a very large park in West Ridge, on Chicago's far north side. It's the largest on…read morethe north side I think. I think I might have been here once when I lived in West Ridge a mile away. They have facilities for baseball, basketball, and soccer, as well as a 9-hole golf course (waaaaay on the northeast side of the park, at the corner of Pratt and Ridge), and tennis courts that double as pickleball courts. There's a path that runs through the park as well so you can walk or job, but I also saw people riding bikes on it when I was here. In wintertime, they have an ice rink. You can play cricket here, racquetball, and there are three playgrounds. The field house is large too. There's a gymnasium and the Northtown Garden Society operates out of here. I was surprised to see the garden club because I had been curious if there was one around here but couldn't find one. I'm sure one of if not their major project is the maintenance of the Warren Park community garden, which is between Western Avenue and the field house. Near the field house, on its south side, is a work of public art that doubles as a place to sit and take a load off. The history of Warren Park is a particularly interesting one and combines the politics of Chicago. The land was once the Edgewater Golf Course, a privately owned course. It was purchased and the community soon learned that the developers wanted to put a high rise and shopping center here. It was indeed re-zoned by the city when community efforts failed, and those groups (called the Allied North Side Community Organizations) appealed to the governor, who signed legislation making it a state park to preserve the open land, calling it the "first major state park in Illinois created in an urban area". The state only purchased about a third of it, though, and the remaining land was still undergoing development, much to the dismay of the surrounding community. Is the end, the Chicago Park District chose to condemn it and turn it into parkland, and the state transferred its property to the city. This park as a very large parking lot, which is good since there are so many activities here. There are bathroom facilities inside the field house as well. The field house and playgrounds are accessible, and depending upon one's accessibility needs other areas of the park may be as well.

Lawson Park is one of the hidden spots in Evanston. A thing that really isn't bad. There's a playground and some cool spots. Coming here isn't exactly convenient if not having a car. It's located along the lake. This is also in a residential area so there's not much going on. More like this is a place for those who live around it. The great thing about it is it's usually pretty quiet. Among the amenities is a playground with modern equipment. There's also an opening to the lake to go hang out and relax. Getting here is probably the worst thing about it. It's located by the lake on Sheridan. There's not much else that's around but it's still pretty chill so whatever.

I call it 'pirate's entrance' because technically, you are trespassing a tad when you use it, but if you just want to dip your feet in the water for a second and not pay the $8 per person entry fee at the main beach entrance, this is how you get there. Enter at your own risk though... I can't be held responsible for any possible charges brought upon you, should you get caught. Other than the bootleg beach entrance, this park is pretty rockin'. There's a solid roofed area with picnic benches that you can rent out for parties, also a large field to just lay in, picnic, or set up a soccer game or whatever kind of sport that the kids are into these days and can be played on grassy turf. There's also a bike rack, and some nice, quiet benches just off a bit from this really swank playground that you should totally take your kids to. They'll love it. You know how I know that? Because I loved it and the thing that would have made me love it more would be if I were smaller and actually fit better going through the equipment, which includes a tire swing, kiddie swings, multiple safety slides right next to each other so you can race, a really nice and spacious jungle gym, a cute tented area that kids can put there heads through and look like they have the body of a knight or princess, a little faux stage to put on a puppet show, a red convertable race car, a motorcycle, a little yellow plane and it's all on that squishy, rubber safety ground so it's cushy, no splinters and probably a lot less skinned knees and bruises.
