    Salad bar
    Ashley S.

So let me start out by saying I was once a part of a going out to lunch after Sunday service family most of my child and young adulthood. In saying that Clarksville Station was in the normal roation of Fisherman Three(no longer in business), Homestead Steakhouse, and several others. I had not been there in probably 25-30 yrs as I am now 42 and no longer in the Sunday lunch after church circuit. My husband had wanted to try Clarksville's food after the recent bad publicity and new ownership. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised after hearing Mom's poor review of the place I remembered...food not up to par and prices too high. So on to my review, I had the lighter fare tips in burgandy and my husband had the Stationmaster. The lighter fare tips did not come with the salad bar but I got it as an add on for 5.49. ......Sidebar:if you have had the salad bar at Old Country Club in Roxboro it does not compare but I must be spoiled......it was sufficient. The veggies were fresh, there were canned peaches but no other fruit that I saw. No raisins(I realize not everyone is a fan but whatever) and out of croutons. I guess I could have asked for more but wasn't that worried about it. Mike's meal came with the salad bar and as I said mine was an add on. I had my tips medium well and it came with a choices of several sides including fries, sweet pot., baked potato, and something else I honestly didn't pay attention to as I LOVE SWEET POTATO!!! The tips were perfect, no fat, cooked to perfection, and I could drink the sauce they came in. Oh by the way if you don't like mushrooms don't get this dish or eat around them. Mike asked for his steak medium rare as most places cook medium for medium rare and medium well for medium. It was a little under done for him but nothing a cast iron skillet can't fix if you can cook. The ambiance was great, decorated with wreaths and garland for the holidays and our waitress was a gem, checked on us just enough but not in a smothering amount. There eas a gentleman who came by and asked if everything was ok, manager maybe? All in all it looks deserted but isn't, pull up in the parking lot. There were folks coming in when we were leaving at 8:30. Try it out you may also be pleasantly surprised.

I dined here, not by choice, today with some clients who chose this place for lunch. They bragged about how great the salad bar is so I was super excited. First, the place is set off the road in Roxboro where you could almost miss it for being just an old train station, which apparently it is. My dining companions who were from Roxboro told me that it used to be the train depot and that even the train car that is attached to the building is known to be haunted. That's about as exciting as this place gets. We arrived at 12:15pm and stayed for a lunch meeting that lasted almotst 2 hours. We were one of 4 groups who dined here all day during the lunch "rush". The menu was limited with fatty/dried foods or steaks. I opted for the famous salad bar which was anything but... I HATE iceberg lettuce and unfortunately, there were no other choices. It reminds me of getting a side salad at a school cafeteria. YUCKO! So I wouldn't embarass my clients, I continued as if it were hitting the spot. The salad bar literally had iceberg lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes, cheese, croutons, and 5 different dressings. Huh? Where is the fabulous bar? Luckly, I was able to order a chicken breast cut up to add to my salad but after I took a bite, it tasted like it had been marinated in pineapple juice which I also am not a fan of. The server was pleasant and didn't bug us constantly but was attending and made sure we had refills. This is actually what allowed me to put give Clarksville Station 2 stars rather than 1. Maybe this place is happening at dinner. Maybe their steaks are the best tasting steaks in the county but I probably won't revisit to find out. I went hoping to eat a healthy salad or any other healthy meal, and left starving wishing my poor choice of fast food would have won out. Oh well.... you can't win them all.

This is a fantastic place to eat lunch or dinner anytime. This locally owned place has everything about railroads on the walls. And it actually was a railroad station in Clarksville, VA and moved down to Roxboro, NC and has not one but two railroad cars on either side. On the menu is steaks, burgers, chicken, soups & salad. If you order a burger or chicken sandwich they have a buffet that you can pick items to put on it. They also have a salad bar. The prices on the menu range from $3.50 to $25.00. T-bone steaks are $15.00 Sunday to Thursday and on Sundays they have $10.00 lunch buffet including entree, drink and dessert. Food B Staff A Decor A Location B Health Inspection Grade 92.5

Marinated chicken sandwich bar for lunch. Awesome! One of the best chicken sandwiches I have ever had.

I love this place. Great food and great service. Everyone is extremely friendly. Being from Roxboro, I have been coming here for quite a while. They changed ownership maybe two years ago. Sinc then and because I wasn't in town very much, I hadn't been here in a while. I went back last night and the food was just as good as I remember it. I currently live in New York City and am thus very used to having wonderful food. With that said, if this place were in NYC, I would still seek it out. Despite all of the positives, I think the prices may be a few dollars too much, and the salad bar was not as good as before. The salad bar just had shredded iceberg lettuce. Before the had bigger pieces of iceberg. Although they never have had mixed greens lettuce as far I can remember, it would be nice for them to have that. My favorite dish here is the chicken haimson. It is so flavorful. I love it. My parents like pretty much all of the steaks. I think this is the best restaurant in Roxboro by far.

Food not good and not proportion for money. Service needs upbeat. Atmosphere not as quaint as it should be.

The salad bar was great today. My favorite dish here is the marinated chicken plate. I eat here in a regular basis. Love the cookies too.
