I have never walked into any business in my life to encounter an employee as rude as one can be at the Maplewood location. I booked my haircut for the person who has been cutting my hair for some time. I did not realize that the "booksy" service they use changed the date to Wednesday when I was thinking it was for today and walked in to take a seat since I have an appointment. Not having seen my barber I asked if she is here to the JR. He said not today, I looked up the confirmation and noticed that I was mistaken. I said it was my mistake and pointed out I don't like using booksy and as I was heading out, this outlandishly rude young lady in charge of the door stepped in front of me with "can I help you!". I said "no, you cannot" which prompted her to spew "there is the door" pointing to the door. I congratulated her for being so smart to know where the door is. I think her beef was because I did not stop while she was busy with another customer and acknowledged her being in charge of the door. Her being able to behave with the owner present represents the owner's attitude towards their customers. What a shame! read more

Everyone here is very nice and professional, and the space is modern and clean. However, I've had two cuts here from two different barbers and it's been a real chop job. The cuts feel rushed and with a lack of attention to detail. The fading on the sides has been choppy. There have been odd-placed buzzes which look like a mistake. When I got home, my spouse said to me, "Oh no, what happened?" And honestly, she did a better job when we were in quarantine. I wanted to like this place, but I'm looking forward to my hair growing out so I can get a haircut somewhere else. read more

Guy with longer curly hair has a bad attitude and didn't listen twice as I said to give my kid a regular haircut. He complained about me saying "trim" when I didn't ask for a trim for my kid. Maybe he didn't hear me because of his earbuds in. I corrected him saying regular haircut and he still just did a slight trim after saying loud enough for me to hear "what the f***". I came in off the street at an off hour to see if a barber was available at that moment to trim my goatee, which was truly beginning to resemble a goat's beard. Nicole was available and sat me down in a comfort chair, asked me what I wanted and went to work, first wiping sweat off my face with a hot towel and combing back my hair. I outlined what I wanted with my fingers, which was quite simple, but as we know, simple is the most difficult cut. She went to work and within a short time gave me what I wanted. She then asked if I had time for a razor cut to clean my cheeks seeing my goatee domesticated, said I had more than enough time. I won't go through the steps of the shave, but will simply say she gave a good close shave and finishing with a little massage of my ace and the top of my head. I left feeling considerably better and cleaner. Nicole was professional, dexterous with razors and scissors and very personable. She obviously enjoys her job and does it well. I would not think twice about returning every couple of weeks, at those times when my goatee takes on a life of its own. read more

These guys are awesome. It's a few of the best barbers that came over from the Neighborhood Cut & Shave in the West Village (which has lost most of its good barbers over the last few years, and has gotten consistently worse). They give a great haircut, play good music, and hook you up with coffee, whiskey, etc. You get the quality you deserve here for a premium hair cut -- the same can't be said for most of the similar barber shops in the area. The place looks classy. The young man who cuts hair is unskilled and unprofessional. He cut my son's hair so short we were both shocked and horrified. He failed to listen to anything. He took it upon himself to cut all of my son's hair off without consulting either my son or myself. At the end- my son had the same haircut as the man cutting his hair.
